Hello All!

Running behind again - worked yesterday, and have been on the run up until now today - went to exercise class at the pool with the neighbor, continued working on thinning down the canning jar mountain under the shed porch, made a run to town with Hubby that included treating him to lunch out, then did a little work outside. 'Bout ready to put my feet up, put a glass of lemonade close to hand, and stick my snout in a book for a bit.

Tomorrow morning will be spent getting some garden prep done in between washing and hanging loads of laundry, then I need to do a BUNCH of weeding and other clean up type work. Got a neighbor teen who is looking for some work coming over this evening to 'interview' so I may be able to make us both happy if it seems she'll work out :)

Well dang; the beekeeper just pulled in the drive; reckon I'd better so see what he needs - I've got another box of plain jars cleaned up and sitting on the kitchen table to hand off to him, so can't complain about his timing!

Take care all; wishing you sunshine and good weather!

I was determined to get the peas in the ground on time this year. On time is traditionally St. Patrict's Day. OK, so I was a few days late. Most of them either didn't sprout, rotted in the ground from all the rain or got eaten by the wild critters, birds or our own poultry. Maybe next year?

peas befuddle me - it's the single veggie that I have little to half results growing - hate to waste the garden space on them when pole beans are 50X better producers ....

The thought of peas fresh out of the garden always makes me smile - the Aunty who babysat me while Mama worked would tell us "Those peas are ready to pick - you kids keep out of them!" knowing we'd run straight for the garden to eat fresh raw peas. We never got in a lick of trouble for it either - I reckon she figured it saved her the time of picking, shelling and cooking them if she could con us into eating 'em raw

Been a busy week here - off work late the last two nights, had to go to work for a meeting another day so took advantage of being in town and made FOURTEEN stops, including said meeting. No more of THAT nonsense - Hubby texted me with something he wanted from Rural King (last stop) when I was still in town and asked if I was going anywhere else - I told him that town was way too peopley for me (to the point I bought more ammo than I'd intended lol!) and I was headin' home to the woods!

I did get the strawberry plants in the ground this week, and my teen helper and I got quite a bit of yard clean up done as well. I managed to get up to the pool twice with the neighbor ladies, plus brought in 8 dozen pint jars from the pile of boxes on the shed porch and got them cleaned up (dishwasher followed by some hand washing) and boxed. I think there are only 5 more assorted size boxes out there that contain regular mouth pints - and some of those will take a little extra work as they have been decorated for a wedding so I will have to cut off ribbons and pick off glued on flowers before I can put them in the dishwasher. Once I've got all the regular mouth pints cleaned up and stored inside, I will start on wide mouth pints. I reckon I'll do the regular mouth quart jars after that as those are the ones I'll pass to my cousins. With just us in the house, about the only things we can in quarts nowadays is broth and tomato juice, but I've already about 20 dozen clean and boxed regular mouth quart jars (empty) down in the store room if I take a notion to use them, so the girls can have whatever there is on the porch.

Today, I've done some housework, then worked outside with the neighbor teen for a couple hours - she had to leave early to primp for Prom :) Got a load of jars out of the dishwasher and on to the counter to be hand washed, and load two is in the dishwasher right now. Second load of laundry just got hung on the line and I'm ready to sit down and rest up as the grandsons should be here soon! Hubby is at an IDPA match; when he gets home, we'll get the big rain water tank cleaned up, then open up the outlet from the shed gutters so it can start to fill. Then we need to set up another tank, except it will be outside, and fill from the other side of the roof. Not sure what else we'll do this weekend although the older grandson has been hinting that he'd like to go fishing...

Take care all; have a great Saturday!
