Good Sunday Morning to All!

We got some very heavy rains yesterday afternoon and overnight. It sure helped our drought situation. I think we have rain in our forecast again on Friday. I pray we get it, too.

No home fellowship, today. We have no plans. I'm making a big chef salad for our supper, tonight.

Cary has the appointment with our Urologist Wednesday morning. Would you all begin praying that this will turn out not to be anything serious? We would greatly appreciate it.

Everyone have a safe and blessed week ahead.

Roast chicken and homegrown asparagus for dinner...and some fruit jello..

I bought a cold cut maker, where you put your own good grown meat, if you can find it, in the container and cook it for the specified time and then slice with a meat slicer and voila sandwich meat without all the bad stuff in it. Dh scoffed, but I’m going to give it a try with our ground venison.

Once the ground meat is cooked, wouldn't it crumble up when trying to slice it. It would be like just cooked ground meat. Maybe, I'm not understanding the process. I can see using it to cook a ham or roast then slicing it.

I decided to ask contractor friend to grab some paints and primer for me so I can start on the exterior window areas. Then I decided to run an image through Grok so I could see what and idea I had would look like. That meant I'm changing plans now. The window areas will not be white. Windows and trim will be green. I've ordered color chips to see which shade of green. I really didn't realize how much that would upgrade the look of the house. Something so simple.

Otherwise, slowly coming out of the stress crash and actually getting things done. First up has been the basic chores that slid while I was crashed.

Friend is right. Now that I don't have to worry about someone else's decisions, I am getting things focused. And getting a list of things to be handled. Some can be done relatively quickly. Others will take longer as I'll need to collect supplies. And some of those supplies can't be collected until I finish throwing out stuff.

Prayers are ongoing!

It's a decent day here, low 50s and partly sunny. I've walked, biked, and now I'm cooking, finishing dishes, and getting ready for the week. No hummingbirds, yet, but the other birds have returned. My kitty loves watching them from her perch in the front window. If my tree were a little bigger, I'm sure that it would have at least one nest in it by now.

It snowed here Friday, is gorgeous today and the start of the week, then possible snow again on Friday. Wish the weather would just make up its mind! Got a few things caught up here and heading out to work in the front yard.
@kyrsyan just one step at a time. But now you know your path won't get diverted by someone else's decisions - at least as far as the house is concerned. I am trying to declutter, but.... it's taking me more than a minute!!

Kyrstan so very very happy and excited for you and your son that the mortgage thing is all done!
My whole brain and body are so happy it's done. It hasn't quite fully sunk in. Not yet. But the deep mental stuff is slowly shifting to drop the stress from some issues that were specifically related to me not actually owning the house.

And at some levels, it has already sunk in. The levels that realize I no longer have to worry about someone else's approval.

We're just plugging along.
Been raining off and on here for a few days. Nights in the high 20's. Supposed to rain Tue. Wed and Thur. again. We'll see what else we can get done Monday and Sat. Dh is gone all day Tue and Fri. I'm trying to keep up with other things.
Daughter in AZ ordered a 2 pocket BBQ full apron, 4 matching pot holders and I threw in a oven mitt. The lady wanted sunflower material. Got them ready to send off tomorrow.

There are several videos on YouTube with recipe's etc. I got very interested in it a few years back and then put it on the back burner never to remember it again. I'm glad you brought it up...I think I'll look into it again. Store bought lunch meat is so unhealthy but we eat it anyway.

Quiet day here. I went to church this morning. The wind was gusting so high it about knocked me off my feet but not so cold as Saturday. Low tonight 30º then high tomorrow 64º with low of 53º then into the 80's for the next couple of days. Thursday 71º with rain which we need, then temps dropping back into 60's. Whiplash weather!!

Other than folding and putting away a load of laundry, finishing a book and taking a nap nothing accomplished this afternoon. I'm hoping I can scrounge up more energy this week and get more done. I have to make an appointment for pre-surgery physical and have an appointment for a haircut plus Bible study two days. That is busier away from home than I like to be.

Prayers said for Cary.

I've always enjoyed Don Williams singing and haven't heard Lord I Hope This Day is Good for a very long time. I listen to an "oldies" country/western farm radio station but the "oldies" they are now playing are into the years I stopped liking country music. Fortunately, I have CDs of classic hits by some of the older country stars.

DH and DS got most of the garden fence up this weekend. At the last minute, DS suggested an additional gate and DH agreed so that left that little section unfinished for now. I love the fence. It took the whole two hundred feet for three sides. We are still undecided about the front. It has a cute short fence but needs an upgrade. We'll have to buy a whole other role of the horse fencing to do just that one part so DH may make a wooden picket fence for that. We'd considered it any way. On the other hand, I could use the extra fencing for a trellis in the newly added section on the very back of the garden. It's been a huge upgrade with about twenty feet added to the back and this is the last. At our age, it's all we can handle with DH working. It's all I would want anyway. All that food has to be gathered and preserved and that is all on me.

The rabbits are taking over. As they were winding down, DS saw a couple rabbits in the yard and DH was able to take care of one. It looked bad with several ticks on it and the hair missing from the back of it's neck...maybe a female? It was also thin. There's been an explosion of them in the last few years. I gardened in that spot for years without one sign of a rabbit at all.

Edited to add...I love Don Williams. There are so any good ones from the past but the one I've liked lately is "Where the Arkansas River Leaves Oklahoma". It never got the commercial success others did but it's still my all time favorite from him. I use to hear it a lot during late night picking sessions at the bluegrass festivals. I would love to turn the clock back to the days when all three of my guys played. Now the oldest son is the only one that plays regularly and lately he's gotten back to his bluegrass roots more and more.

An easy quiet day yesterday. Went to church, good Sunday school lesson and sermon. Charissa broke down during worship though. I went over and just held her. It breaks my heart.

Then dd and I did our meal prep for the week. I have to get serious and get some of this weight I've gained off. I need to cut the carbs but I do love them so...but I'm feeling awful after eating them. So time to buckle down and get serious. Temporary taste is not worth discomfort for several hours.

Woke up this morning to a missed call from dd at midnight. Little man was inconsolable she said and she panicked and called me. Problem was I forgot to turn my phone back on after church. She said they had gotten him calm and think he's constipated. Waiting till I know she's up to call and check on her. Needless to say I feel awful!

And a little good news! Dh thought our well pump was going out as we've had almost no water pressure for a couple weeks now. I told him yesterday I couldn't get the dishwasher to run either. So he went out to check how many wires on the pump so he could start getting parts to change it out. Well the filter that he changed in December (change it 2x a year) was FULL. It was nasty looking! So a new filter that we had and walla! my water pressure is back. We probably do need to get a new pump and have it on hand he says as this one has a few years on it though.

Today I've got my circle meeting (WMU) and then home to get the kitchen cleaned up.

It was chilly and windy yesterday, spit a couple raindrops once or twice, but no rain. Its chilly this morning too but will warm up to the 70's the next two days then back to the 80's. I took the heat off my chicks but they should be big enough to be just fine.

A bit warmer, today. High of 78 with low of 45. We still need a bit of heat to knock the chill out of the house every morning. Clear skies. Our forecast has us getting rain over the whole weekend and a few days next week. Our "burn ban" has been lifted, but we are still being advised not to burn anything outside.

Not much going on, today. We had a bit of excitement yesterday afternoon. I looked out the window beside the dining table to where one of our rain barrels is located. On the ground was a huge fat snake. I sent Cary out to observe. He took the hoe with him. He killed it, even though, it was a non-poisonous one. 4ft. long Mississippi brown water snake. I told him I wanted every snake, whether poisonous or not, to be killed. No snakes close enough to get in my house, again! He plugged every hole that he could find where snakes could come in after finding the second snake skin in the laundry room!!! I'm not taking any chances.

Well they're saying its 73 with a real feel of 83. Guess what? they lie! That wind is chilly! I just came in and had my lunch. The back door is open and I'm wearing a sweater. I also wore it to go pick the lettuce for my salad in my full sun garden just a few minutes ago. Now maybe about 4:30 it may feel 83 but not right now!

We just had our 3rd cord of split firewood delivered. Our woodshed will hold another 2 cords, so Cary told him to keep bringing it as he was able. He has others that are on his list for firewood, too. As long as we get another 2 cords by winter, we'll be good with it. 7 cords under roof right now which should last us around 3 years depending on how bad our winters are. We don't want to get too far ahead, because the wood will turn "pucky", and not be any good. Cary does keep it all in a rotation cycle. It's good to know that we have our heating and cooking covered for a few years.

Commodity truck day. Truck was an hour late. We missed last month. Back in February the truck was an hour and a half late. It is only an hour and a half drive here from the warehouse in Kansas City.

Best thing was six boxes of Hostess Baseballs. Those are cupcakes frosted white with red striping to look like the stitching on a baseball. The rest was all fruits and vegetables, still appreciated. There was more than we are able to use before it goes bad, so we are giving some of it to a guy that works at the animal shelter who has an extra mouth to feed (young boy relative of some sort) right now and is having some tight times. Only got three hours sleep last night since we had to get up so early today. The commodity pickup was scheduled to start at 9:00 AM. We were there at 7:20 AM and were still almost a third of the way back in the final length of the line. I did catnap some while waiting.

Will not be on here tomorrow until late in the day. I have to be at the hospital for my hand surgery at 6:15 in the morning.

I'll be praying for you as soon as I get up in the morning. Praying for your surgery to go well and that you will have a speedy recovery.
