I have some series on DVDs that I've been using my DVD player for it's been really nice. I haven't been able to watch them for years and I'll definitely be taking them with us on our trip.

My daughter and I have been working on her setup and getting the dogs settled. It's going better and it gives me ideas for when my son and I travel. The main thing is you must be organized and your animals must be under control.

Sheree I am definitely going the sprayer route because the cabin is only 10x20. Sprayers are 10 bucks at Dollar general. I think I could just cover the windows because there's only three and they're small I could just cover them with newspaper. But if you could find out from carry what he uses to clean the windows that would be a lot of help.

I ask Cary what he uses on the windows to cut the stain off. He said he uses "Mineral Spirits". You find it in the paint section. He gets it at LOWE's. Once the mineral spirits has cut the stain, you'll need to wash the windows with whatever window cleaner you normally use. You can use a pressure washer with window cleaner or some type of soap for that.

I haven't been spending much time in my office where I can look out the window. All of a sudden )LOL) the trees are all filled out. Last time I remember looking out this window all the trees were bare. Its mostly in the low to mid 80's now, I dread the hot weather.

DH has an appointment with a GI specialsist today, I hate to say this but there is a part of me that is scared. I have become dependent on my precious DH for so many things. He takes care of most things. Although I am feeling somewhat better I still have little energy or stamina. I know God's got this but there is a part of me that is scared.

Judy, I don't have any advice to offer, but know that I'm keeping you and your DH in my prayers.

Praying for you and DH Judy. I have arthritis and move more slowly these days. So far I am able to keep up with cooking and cleaning. My DH does outside and is more than willing to buy groceries etc from my lists. I do venture to Costco with him occasionally. Sitting is hardest on my knees. They do much better straightened out.
I have had various forms of arthritis off and on for decades along with family history. So this shouldn't be surprising but it is not what I anticipated and frustrating at times. But I remind myself that in big scheme of things it is not so bad.

I had a message regarding doctor's appointment this coming Friday ... bring insurance card and picture ID. Question: what about the people who are unable to get a picture ID? I cannot understand how anyone unable to get a picture ID is smart enough to vote so it shouldn't be an issue. Either they can get the ID or they shouldn't be voting.

No photo ID in Mississippi = No vote.

One thing that is interesting about this photo ID issue...when the politicians have a rally ...they require a photo ID ....to attend ....

Several years ago HD and I got our passports..when we did...we got both the booklet and the passport card....the card costs $30 and is good for ten..if you don't have a passport...there is and additional fee...but you don't pay the fee again when you renew...the card is the size of a credit card or drivers license..
We have to vote on the 21st of April here...I have never used it but will this time to vote...we now have 3 picture IDs our drivers license, our passport booklet and our passport card..

I believe that a number of things should require proof of citizen...the right to register to vote...(Bill Clinton and the Democrats pushed that motor voter registration back when he was president...it was also in the tax booklets for a long time) all the various welfare..things that are only for citizens..it would really cut down on the fraud..

Prayers are ongoing from here, as well!

Connie and WanderLore, I've added that series to my list for winter viewing. It sounds good!

Busy day here. Here's some good news: my little tree has more buds on it than it did last year (I took pictures). I really hope that it grows well this summer. I don't want to replace it if I can avoid it, but I really need something a lot more filled out for the birds. A pair has tried to nest behind the porch light (I knocked down the start of the nest). I can't have bird parents dive-bombing anyone approaching the porch. That happened two years ago. They can find somewhere else to raise their family.

Everything is about a week early, including the lawn getting shaggy. I need to start cutting grass! Maybe tomorrow. I still haven't changed the oil in the mower.

I took down the beginning of a next above my backdoor light yesterday too. They try every year.

We had nests of barn swallows in our old, detached garage. When we built the new house with an attached garage, we left the door open most of the time because the kids went in and out through the door from the garage to the house. The barn swallows kept building nests until they finally built one we missed and had babies. One day dd was walking into the garage after teaching a tennis lesson and got dive bombed, bird ended in orbit after her reflex with the tennis racket.

Meemur, are you under tornado watch or warning? I'm just west of the watch area but close enough to make me nervous. Sounds like Waterloo area and to the east into Wisconsin are getting hammered.

Rather depressing day. Had a long talk with a friend that was diagnosed about the same time as me. 3 of us were diagnosed with cancer about the same time. I had stage 4, S and J were stage 3. They are both at least 20 years younger than me. S passed in January of 25. J was just told hers is back after NED (no evidence of disease) for 9 months. She just needed to talk to someone who's been there. I kept it together until we parted, but it's been a rough day.

Oh moldy, prayers going up for you .. and J ... for peace and fortitude in your faith and trust and for being the friend J needed at this time. Heavenly Father, hold you both in His loving arms and touch you both with healing hands, restore hope, and bring comfort and encouragement to your heavy heart.

Bad news tonight….my young friend at church had her scheduled scans Monday and the results are not good. She’s been having pain in the leg the tumor was in again and the scans showed a mass again and lots of swelling. She goes next Tuesday for the consult after the scans and I’ll be taking her as her family can’t be here. I told her I’d go in with her if she wanted.

In good news I finished the quilt I’m hand quilting for the guild! I’ll wash it tomorrow and take it to the meeting Monday for someone else to bind it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad for a finish!!

Oh and my bil is giving me a 30lb trash bag of quilt tops from his great aunts, all handpieced and most from the early 1900’s he said. I can’t wait to see them! He said he wants one for himself so I told him to pick out what he wants and I’ll quilt it.

I'm so sorry you've had a rough day. That just goes to show there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to cancer. Ongoing prayers for you and also praying for J.

Today is shopping day. We have a big haul this time. I did some cleaning and rearranging in the pantry room, yesterday. I've used up most of the older items that won't be replaced. We just didn't eat those fast enough. So, I have extra room in the pantry, now. Since we don't eat as much anymore, that space won't be refilled. Today's shopping will be mostly foods for 2 weeks. I'll also be buying all my bedding plants, another large planter, potting soil, etc. Cary has his own list, too.

84 today and still no rain. I think we have a slight chance, Saturday, with cooler temps moving in. Highs in the 70's for a couple of days, then back up in the upper 80's.

Since we have to go into Mom's small town to pay a bill at the courthouse, I want to stop in and visit with her for a few minutes, before we go on to another small town to finish up our groceries. I was really disturbed by a phone call she made to me, yesterday. She just didn't sound like herself. I fear she is developing dementia. I have noticed other little signs in the last few months, too.

Everyone have a great day and fun in the gardens for some of you!

Pouring rain here. I haven't seen the drought monitor -- it comes out tomorrow -- but I will be surprised if there is any drought left in Iowa. We had both snow and some slow soaking rains, both in the fall and spring. As long as we don't get a hard freeze at the wrong time, we're on track for good fruit crops.

That said, I'm still glad that I got more apples and dried them. I eat dried apples instead of potato chips, which saves a lot of sodium and calories. In late July and early August, I eat potato chips. I'm swearing a lot and can handle the extra salt.

Added: I've got tulips! I think that I lost a few of the early tulips to the snow, but I've got a few. So pretty!

Out of seven clumps of daffodils, I have one bloom. It's from a newer bulb that I purchased about three years ago, more ruffled than the standard daffodil. I also have one clump of tulips blooming and another with a single bloom. Both were given to me by a neighbor 20 years ago who has since passed. I always think of him when they bloom, it's a variegated red/yellow. The other is plain yellow. I have several other clumps most of which the rabbits ate but a few have buds.

I have a long list to get through today and then Bible Study at 4:00. I'm really tired today so hope I accomplish everything before giving out.

We are unreal hot...in the 90s for several days...record heat..crazy weather
We need rain..strawberries are heavy with blooms and now berries forming.
We will have lettuce soon..green beans going in..will sprout first..saves time and replanting as all are viable seed..
This tick season is nuts...just took the 10th one off dh... first one was in mid February...that is unheard of here....but it is interesting that adding black seed oil..(organic and cold pressed only).has really changed our reaction to them..we are on 20,000 iu of D3+K2+ magnesium + zinc, Ameriden Olive Factor (the original olive leaf extract have tried other brands...don't work as well always come back to Ameriden ..it is more expensive but we think worth it) minimum of 2 caps per day during tick season it kills Lyme...( we cured a rescue young dog of Lyme 25 years ago ..vet tested from high positive to negative in 2 months..he lived to be 17)..and 1000 mg black seed oil..I am usually itching like crazy for a week to 10 days with a tick bite...now about a day of itching...the bite is gone in a couple of days...no bulls eyes..next to no red...at bite site...we are in a very heavy extreme Lyme area..almost everyone here has or has had Lyme..or will have Lyme..think rampant....now heavy alpha gal is turning up..we are not getting either of them..this is working for us..not medical advise..just relating our experiences....

Wild weather in my area: we're under a tornado watch. It was hailing when I was on the way home. I pulled into the Fareway lot and hung out there for awhile until it calmed down enough to drive home.

Per Facebook: Reed Timmer (storm chaser) is in Des Moines today.

I was under a thunderstorm watch earlier today but it all went south of us. We didn't have even a drop of rain although it got dark enough I had to turn on lights. Radar looked like the ones that got the storm got hit pretty good. Thankfully I haven't heard of any tornados.

I went to main street to do three things and could only accomplish 2 plus to the post office to mail a couple things. I'll have to go back up tomorrow.

I didn't accomplish much of my list today due to lack of time although I finally transplanted the last five tomatoes. My plants are looking good and I'm going to have to raise the light again soon. I think it's going to be hot tomorrow, and the seed potatoes are growing so I guess I need to go ahead and cut them.

Since we didn't get any rain, I'm going to check if the garden can be tilled and see of dd's boyfriend wants to do it tomorrow. If it's tilled too wet, it dries into sharp chunks that make for a miserable gardening season.

Friday, I have appointment to get eye checked pre-cataract surgery so that day will be useless for work at home. Also, supposed to be extremely windy that day. A friend is driving me and I know she hates driving in the wind so maybe I'll need to find someone else last minute.

Not my photo. Tornado chaser Reed Timmer hanging out near Des Moines. That's the Dominator 3, a special vehicle he uses to intercept tornadoes. I've seen it before, although not today.

That rig was parked in front of a restaurant in mountain home awhile back. It's cool up close.

Survived tax time. Talked to some very nice people. Only had to deal with a couple jerks. Found out I really enjoy handling chats. AI notes from calls can be quite entertaining. I hope my fellow chatters realized those notes had to edited and corrected before approval. Tomorrow afternoon I will do tech setup for next contract.

Storm came thru today with another expected in a couple hours. We have all the windows in living room open right now. Cool breeze. Light rain. Sound of frogs in the creek. So peaceful. I will have to shut them in a few minutes but it is nice right now.

Tornado touchdown here today (Wed.). Missed us by a few blocks. It lifted for a moment right as it went over us. God's protection is real.

Appointment with primary care doctor tomorrow (Thur.) afternoon. Pre-Op for hand surgery Friday morning.

McDonald's here has screwed up the last three orders that had a sandwich. First time they left the egg off of both breakfast sandwiches. They did have a school bus eating there and were a bit overwhelmed. The next time, I ordered a steak and egg McMuffin. They gave me a steak and egg bagel even though the grill ticket stuck to the wrapper was correct. No buses and business was slow. Then today I ordered a double hamburger. They gave me a single. Again the grill ticket attached was correct. We only have one location here so I can't switch locations. Wendy's discontinued their English muffin breakfast sandwiches about two months ago. I used to get theirs because they were cheaper and just as good. I may have to switch back to Burger King Croissandwiches until McDonald's gets it together. I normally pick up breakfast on the days that I have medical appointments in the morning in order to save time and not have to get up quite as early.

It's going to be another beautiful warm day. I have laundry going that will be hung outside to dry. I've already been out in my flowers this morning. There were some small sapling trees growing up in amongst the flowers. I had to go around and cut all of those down. I also had a shrub that I trimmed back at the corner of the deck. I don't know what else I'll get done today. I might do more watering, since we have no rain in sight.

We've decided not to plant any of the raised beds this year. We're going to just let them lay fallow. I'll be dumping organic matter into them all summer to enrich the soil for next year.

Cary just left going into small town to get a new battery for his Jeep. He's going to give it a bath, too, while in town. It's covered in yellow pollen and needs a good scrubbing.

No rain here and no chance till maybe Sunday. We will see though. I watered the garden good last night, ok, ok I forgot I turned the water on for a bit. Had to get up out of bed and go turn it off. Everything looks great though so no harm done.

Small group last night was good if quiet. We talked a lot about what's going to happen with Charissa's appt next week and how she's feeling.

Grocery shopping for the week is done. I got some good deals on meat this week! Kinda chicken and beefed out but thankfully they were marking down pork loins. I got a huge one for like 20 bucks. That will make several meals!

Now I need to do some cleaning up and vacuum.

This is the driest Spring we've had in a long, long time. Record territory. If we don't get rain on Saturday, as predicted, it's going to be a long stretch, before any more rain is in sight. March and April are our peak tornado months, but we can't even get rain this time. Not complaining about not getting tornadoes, though.

They're saying our chance Sunday is very slim and then its another week before another chance. Its dry here too and local lakes are way down.

Same here. The farmers are all getting their fields planted, but it looks like a dust storm with all the tractors going. The creek that surrounds the ridge we live on is so dry you can walk across it. The man that owns the land that surrounds ours has a small spring fed pond just under the hill from our house. It has to be a very deep spring, because it's not too low. That will be our water source if SHTF and our water catchment system dries up.

It's a sunny day in the upper 60s, with much less humidity. I had some help, so I planted more potatoes and some peas first thing. The tomatoes, squash, and marigold starts are on the patio outside, on the garden cart so I can wheel them in this evening. I'm going to direct sow most of the annuals when it's time. I have a gallon bag of assorted seed packets from an estate sale -- they may or may not germinate well. They are going in the backyard, along the fence line.

I haven't seen any bees, yet, but I saw two paper wasps, which I shot dead with Raid (that's their name -- they aren't made of paper!) I've also heard rumors of hummingbird sightings nearby, but it's still still about two weeks early for them. I hope there's no more snow if they are here.

The only bees I've seen so far are those awful carpenter bees! They bore holes all in the cedar siding on our house. Cary has even made traps for them. The traps get rid of a lot of them, but not all. I've seen a few wasps, too, but no honeybees.

I've just come in from watering everything in good, again.
