Oh the shame, the abuse, the pain the unbelievable cruelty of it all. College football is being shutdown not because of covid19 but because of myocarditis from the hydroxchloroquine treatment.

DH likes to listen to a sports show on the radio and this guy says that college football is being cancelled because myocarditis which is an inflammation of the heart muscle that could be possibly caused from treatment of covid19 with hydroxcloroquine. So now we have even more to worry about. We can't even escape the horrible consequences of this horrible virus and this horrible possible treatment, but we can't even sooth ourselves with beer and football! And we have to do all of this working from home with our children at home all the time. Oh the humanity!!!!

It would be the kids home, all the time, with no outlet for their raging teenage emotions, hormonal or otherwise, that causes myocarditis. And possibly cirrhosis of the liver. And going straight from gray to bald, skipping gray altogether.
Among other things. Add in an internet outage, just because, like we had yesterday, and we would have nuclear meltdown. Thank goodness, as much as we dearly love the kids, that they are grown and out of the house!

Edited to add: Those of you with kids, especially teenagers, have my deepest sympathy and prayers. Really. It's a tough time for everyone.

Let's go back a few months ... June 18, 2020, when he said:

Dr. Anthony Fauci: Football players need a 'bubble,' season 'may not happen' with coronavirus second wave

I've been splitting logs all day. I know that's hopelessly traditional toxic male stuff, but by damn I got a lot done.

So I was listing to Mark Packer on Sirius this afternoon and he was interviewing someone following the football drama and they were talking about Notre Dame. The school required all of the returning students to be tested for Covid and only 33 were positive, all asymptomatic. This comes out to 99.7% of the cohort to be covid free! Does that make sense to shut anything down based on those numbers? Notre Dame has opted to play in the ACC conference this year and so far the ACC, SEC, AAC , Sunbelt and Big 12 may be the only ones to have a season.

This will cause an instant depression in all the college towns that rely on football. No revenue from ticket sales, souvenirs, food and drink, parking, etc. Not to mention all the seasonal employees who'll need to scramble for other forms of income.

My nephew went to LSU and their stadium was jam packed with 102,000+ fans on game day. Lodging, bars and restaurants were already fighting to survive. This will push them over the edge in towns like Baton Rouge.

Some of you might roll your eyes and make fun, but for many, an honest night or afternoon watching football is pretty important in the entertainment world.
In our house, for example, we can’t afford to go out much at all and watching a good game IS the only thing we’ll do all week (month).... hub played football his whole school life, we love our Colts and IU college ball!

I think it’s depressing knowing there won’t be any games, especially for the reason it’s being canceled.

The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.
