POL Warning: Do Not Give Your Cell Phone # to Any Dems!

I decided to buy a yard sign in support of a lady Democrat with local roots who's running for congress in my district against a Republican who supports the Iran War fiasco to dry up our oil supply.

In the process of ordering the sign, I gave my cell phone number.

Since then I've received dozens of text messages requesting donations for Democratic candidates from Maine to Iowa to North Carolina. I've heard from Obama twice and from Nancy Pelosi once. I even got a sob story from a candidate in a wheelchair. They all want money. What a nightmare!

I may support a local Dem who hails from my hometown and has an attractive platform, but I darn sure won't be supporting the Democratic Party as a whole or any out-of-state Democratic candidates. Sheesh!

I told my dog she must be a Democrat because she begs to be fed several times a day just like they do!:rdog:

Can you take small consolation that the dems are spending a measurable amount of money on you with no influence?

There are people that registered "D" a half century ago in Appalachia. Back then if you wanted to have ANY influence on local/state political matters you registered "D". If you considered you might want a county job you registered "D".
That didn't mean you ever had to vote for one in a general election. "Reagan" democrats was a term IIRC.

Party affiliation need not define a person. I would be very careful and selective because if your aforementioned chosen democrat can be manipulated you're warming your hands around the enemy campfire.

The reality is that many many choices between the Republican versus Democrat candidate is a choice of a "poop sandwich" or a "poop sandwich with mustard".

Many cynical voters realize you're given a choice to vote FOR a candidate you don't like or AGAINST a candidate you despise. The outcome is the same vote. How it is rationalized in your head is the only distinction.

Eta: @Bridey Rose you picked a heck of an issue to be a "one issue voter". Jmho

Only democrat I ever voted for was a 85 year old woman on our town council.
She was a hoot, old farmer possibly born in a barn in the town type local.
So, a Real Person being a Human, not a DEM Party Hack?

Yeah I get that. I voted for one of those ONCE.

My 1st ever real election was a SK Provincial Election & I voted for Ron Acheson, a SK Roughrider (1952 through 68) and a local Cabinet Maker. A great lineman and an honest stand up guy.

The 1st and Last time I veered left on any ballot!

Well, not to be outdone by the Dems, Trump just invited me via text to contribute to the Repubs.

Here is my response to the poll questions on the contribution page I was directed to:

1. "What are your priorities for America?"

--No more foreign wars; stop war against Iran, stop being fake Israel's bitch. End the Fed and abolish the Income Tax.

2. "What would you say to Trump right now if you saw him in person?"

--How DARE you lie when you promised no foreign wars and have the AUDACITY to ask me to support you!!!!!!!!!

3. "Will you pitch in any amount to help me protect our 'America 1st' [sic] agenda?"

--NO!!

(Nothing beats the fury of a woman who's been lied to!)
