We currently live in a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, Pa. Pittsburgh is much, much better than the larger commie run dem cities, but it is heading in the same direction as them. This past week a group of "teens" pushed an older gentleman and he had a heart attack and later died. A store was ransacked by another group of teens.

WE plan on selling the home I restored within the next year and will be moving at least 30 more miles away.
The writing is on the wall. I see what's coming and want no part of the festivities.

Reports are saying she was black (and woman in video does look black):

"The 66-year-old victim, Margaret Swan of Atlanta, was Black.  News outlets (including AJC, FOX 5 Atlanta, Atlanta News First, and 11Alive) identified her as the victim of the random stabbing on a MARTA train near Oakland City Station on Saturday, May 30, 2026 (around noon)."

Bystanders blamed HOMELESS PERSON -- MARTA still does NOT have all their new guardrails / gates up at their trains stations so homeless are just wandering right in.

The Brief​


    • An Atlanta woman died Saturday following a fatal stabbing on a MARTA train at the Oakland City Station.
    • Authorities arrested 25-year-old John Elijah Matthews immediately near the scene of the violent attack.
    • MARTA is actively investigating the killing, which marks the second stabbing on the system in two weeks.

ATLANTA - A 25-year-old man is accused of fatally stabbing an Atlanta woman on a MARTA train at the Oakland City Station on Saturday.

What we know:

John Elijah Matthews is charged with murder in the death of 66-year-old Margaret Swan.



MARTA police officers were called to the train for a stabbing around noon.

Police officers arrested Matthews immediately near the train after several witnesses saw the violent act take place. Emergency medical workers attempted life-saving efforts, but Swan died on the scene.

SO GLAD you posted this, as I had the TV / Radio news off all day yesterday and did not see it or hear of it until I read your post last night.

Found a video today (partially blanked out) that shows an apparently young man running from the area who looks black. The blanked-out part is something on the ground, which I do not understand since the video above posted shows the woman lying in a pool of blood INSIDE the MARTA train, near a door (that's where those side-seats are, by each door for the convenience of handicapped riders). So--how did her body get outside?--if that's what the blanked-out portion is---it doesn't match the earlier video?

Anyway, the guy is going to be arraigned in court around noon today--"25 year old John Elijah Matthews is charged with murder in the death of 66-year-old Margaret Swan."

Here's the clip---if y'all could watch especially at the 33-second mark and tell me what you think--after watching it a couple of times I believe he is black, but am confused about her body being shown outside in the sunlight on the station platform, when the X video showed a woman inside the train on the floor--?

Atlanta’s Margaret Swan was identified as the victim by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday.

John Elijah Matthews, 25, has been arrested and charged with murder in the incident, Kreher told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday. Fulton County Sheriff’s Office records show he was booked in the jail overnight.

Kreher said Matthews stabbed Swan on the train as it traveled between the Lakewood and the Oakland City stations. He was taken into custody at the Oakland City station.

Kreher said he isn’t aware of any prior incidents involving Matthews and the MARTA police.

“We believe it’s completely random,” the chief said.

I think it was him on the ground being arrested. Why they covered him, I know not. Perhaps he was covered in blood ss it looked horrible

That area--in fact ANY area on the North-South MARTA line south of Five Points (the central downtown Atlanta station) and between there and Hartsfield Airport (the end of the south line) goes through a VERY DEEPLY melanin-blest area.

I'm scared to ride it even in broad daylight in normal times.

But right now, MARTA is "re-designing" its fare gates--they've had SO many people simply jumping over their little 3-foot-high turnstiles that a year ago they began replacing the old gates with new ones -- tall gates -- designed to prevent people jumping over them.

However, while the remodeling is going on, MANY STATIONS HAVE NO FARE GATES AT ALL--and have not had for months. ANYONE CAN SIMPLY WALK RIGHT IN TO THE STATION AND ONTO THE TRAIN--NO GATES, NO SECURITY, NO FARE CHARGED.

So the homeless--who (especially in winter) use the MARTA trains anyway as "the world's largest mobile homeless shelter"--now have free and unfettered access to the trains.

Even though ALL the new fare gates were SUPPOSED to be operational by early May, naturally (this being MARTA, Atlanta, and melanin-blest) MANY are NOT yet ready, and even though the new upgraded MARTA card-fare system (called "Better Breeze") rolled out in May, here's a blurb from MARTA about the stations that still have NO FARE GATES AT ALL--wide open for anyone to JUST WALK RIGHT IN:

  • Other Stations: Phased installations are occurring or completing across the system at stations like Five Points, Midtown, West End, Dunwoody, and Lindbergh. [1, 2, 3]
As you saw, the MAIN HUB of MARTA---the Five Points station -- is NOT YET FINISHED, so there ARE NO FARE GATES and anyone/everyone can just walk on in--including the homeless (who are often mentally deranged). This is probably where this guy got on, as LOTS of homeless people hang around the multi-level Five Points station, and then Oakland is just two stations down the line:

Are any Marta stations actually ready for yesterday's Breeze System switch?​


Took this photo last night at Lenox station- was the same at Civic Center as well. With the (supposed) launch of the new breeze system yesterday, the ability to buy tickets on the old app was discontinued. Yet there were no fare machines installed to buy a new breeze card or tickets from, and the new app requires you to already have a new breeze card to purchase fare.
The result: it was impossible to purchase fare and everyone was riding for free because that was the only option.
Absolutely incredible decision to move forward with discontinuing the old app and system when none of the infrastructure for the new system has been installed.
I wonder if the old fare gates are North Avenue are still there. Last weekend, they were still installed so I had to use the app to make sure I'd purchased fare to be able to leave. Since that's not an option anymore, I hope they've thought ahead and removed them...
All the website updates and app notices act like the new system is installed but I've yet to see it.

Oakland City stabbing​


What we know:




The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority police said 25-year-old John Elijah Matthews stabbed and killed Swan on a train at the Oakland City station. Swan was stabbed 18 to 20 times, and her throat was cut during the attack, according to her daughter, Shanae Sams.


The incident happened Saturday night, marking the second stabbing on the transit system within a two-week period. Sams said her mother used the transit system frequently without previous problems and was simply minding her own business when she was attacked for no reason.


Transit safety questions​


What we don't know:


Officials have not yet confirmed where security personnel or police officers were positioned when the screaming began on the train. It remains unclear what motivated the suspect to launch the attack or if any riders attempted to intervene during the incident.


Transit representatives have not detailed exactly how long it took for emergency responders to arrive at the Oakland City station after the stabbing took place.

Security footage shows stabbing​


Timeline:


Security footage shows Swan sitting completely alone inside MARTA train car 134 around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, according to an arrest warrant.


The warrant states Matthews walked up to stand near her right side, pulled a knife out of his front pants pocket, grabbed Swan by her head, and cut her throat.


Swan screamed and attempted to rise from her seat before Matthews grabbed her right arm and stabbed her roughly 18 to 20 times in an unprovoked attack.


Matthews then threw Swan to the floor and stood beside her until the northbound train pulled into the Oakland City Station at approximately 11:27 a.m.


After the train stopped, Matthews walked out of the train car onto the north end of the station platform holding the knife in his right hand.


At 11:28 a.m., surveillance video captured MARTA police officers rushing to intercept and arrest Matthews on the platform with their weapons drawn. Matthews complied with all verbal instructions given by the arresting units, and the knife was found lying right next to him.


A patrolling officer rushed to the train car at 11:30 a.m. after a large crowd of passengers reported that a man wearing an orange shirt had stabbed a woman.


The responding officer found Swan lying motionless in a large pool of blood and attempted life-saving measures until emergency medics arrived.


Swan ultimately died at the scene and was pronounced deceased by the Fulton County Medical Examiner at 2 p.m.


Authorities immediately evacuated the station, suspended rail service until just before 3 p.m., and used shuttle buses to transport 80 to 100 stranded passengers to their destinations.


In addition to criminal charges, Matthews is permanently banned from all MARTA property.
