SMYRNA, Ga. — The family of a
26-year-old woman found dismembered at a Smyrna apartment complex says their desperate search led them face to face with the 18-year-old now charged with concealing her death.
The family identified the woman as Shanteria “Tia” Mosely, known to loved ones as “KT.” Her aunt, Michelle Weaver, told 11Alive in an exclusive interview with Angelina Salcedo that Mosely left home that morning to make DoorDash deliveries. When relatives could no longer reach her in the afternoon, they began tracking her phone and searching for her.
11Alive's Cody Alcorn confirmed Mosely had been making DoorDash deliveries around the time she disappeared, but there is no record of her delivering to the apartment complex where her remains were found.
The search eventually brought Mosely's family to the Park Valley Apartments off South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Weaver said.
Weaver said the family searched the grass and woods and went door to door. They had located Mosely's car and had information showing where her phone had last pinged. They also called Smyrna police.
“So the officer ended up coming out,” Weaver said. “She said, ‘So where did her phone ping?’ So we took her back to where the phone ping. She knocked on like three guys’ doors, and you know that was it.”
According to Weaver, the officer eventually left, but Mosely's family continued searching.
Weaver said relatives returned to Mosely's car and noticed someone watching them from an apartment window. They went to the apartment and knocked.
Weaver told 11Alive the person who answered was first a man who said he hadn't seen her. They continued searching and noticed Kingston Bradley, the 18-year-old who would later be charged in connection with the case looking from the window.
When she knocked on the door and asked him face to face whether he had seen anyone get out of Mosely's car, Weaver said Bradley told the family he had not.
The family resumed searching. Weaver said they later saw Bradley carrying what appeared to be a bag or cloth containing a container.
“All we see is the boy ... throwing a bag, like something with a cloth,” Weaver said. “It’s like a bag kind of cloth, like maybe a laundry bag, and it had like a container in it. He kind of threw it and he ran.”
An arrest warrant identifies Weaver as a witness and alleges that she saw Bradley carrying a plastic tub containing a body. Investigators allege Bradley dropped the container and ran.
Police said a dismembered torso was inside the container.
Weaver said relatives recognized Mosely because of a tattoo.

The discovery ended the family's search but began what Weaver says is now a search for answers about the police response.
“I just want our story to get out, and I just want Smyrna police to have the correct facts where it all began at, what time it began, the time frame,” Weaver said. “Don't say y'all found her. Her family found her. Y'all didn't do nothing. Y'all left us. You guys left us to do it ourselves.”
Weaver said the same officer who initially responded returned after Mosely's body was discovered.
“Same police officer that came the first time, she was there the second time, and she dropped down,” Weaver said. “She said, ‘I should have believed y'all.’”
11Alive has asked the Smyrna Police Department to respond to the family's account of the initial police response, including Weaver's description of the officer's comments. The department had not responded as of Thursday night.
Arrest warrants also allege the apartment smelled of bleach and that investigators found blood stains and a bloody saw inside.
An investigation is underway in Smyrna where police are working to identify a woman who was dismembered.
Bradley is charged with concealing the death of another person. The investigation remains ongoing, and significant questions surrounding Mosely's death have not yet been answered.
For her family, Mosely was more than the victim at the center of a criminal investigation. She was a 26-year-old mother, daughter, sister and beloved niece.
Asked how she wanted her niece to be remembered, Weaver pointed to the joy Mosely brought to the people around her.
“With her smiles, laughter, and just full of joy, and talking crap to everybody, and just being happy, cheering everybody day up,” Weaver said.
