Iran has officially cut off all direct diplomacy with the United States.

The reason: Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s “whole civilization.”

This morning Trump said Iran was calling him begging for a deal.

Iran just cut the phone line.

No diplomacy. No back channel. No off-ramp.

Trump threatened to erase a civilization. Iran responded by ending all communication.

This is a very bad omen.

I think his problem is that private credit companies weren't facing refinancing charges and having to gate keep withdrawals in 2022. It isn't 2022 anymore.

It saddens me to see the pattern: war drums and the most dehumanizing propaganda are allowed to be shared as "News," despite the sobriety that should surround the actions currently being conducted in the Middle East - especially in light of the planetary fallout that will be suffered by people who had no say in their new experience. Meanwhile, dissenting observations, legitimate concerns, and challenges to the obvious belief shaping campaign, are relegated to this "designated protest zone."

What a shame.

You have fallen a long way TB2K.

We try to let all POVs be heard, that doesn't mean that things won't be scrutinized.

For the Iran war thread, there was an alternate thread provided for wandering discussion so the main thread would not get bogged in irrelevant or marginally relevant things.

I'm sorry that isn't good enough for you...

Nah, at this point I don't care what you think.

Staff spends a lot of time trying to keep things from going off the rails, plus having a life.

Not being a sarcastic dick, you should start a forum and try to balance the things I've mentioned plus all the other crap that goes with herding a few hundred cats and trying to be fair about it.

I didn't post this as truth based on knowledge.
I was suggesting the possibility that Trump may not be getting all the info truthfully since everything is lies. In my opinion.

Someone had posted the alleged comment credited to Susie Wiles.
I never read that it was denied.

The Israeli journalist has denied the charge, and apparently showed The Guardian newspaper published the information before he did. Other journalists are still being looked at. It is not an open and shut case. If the Israelis had proof, I doubt he would still be reporting today. They have been at war for more than 900 days at this point. They don't take kindly to anything that would interfere with their working relationship with the US.

Also: Israelis provided support in the rescue effort, including SOF units. Maybe include that information before applying the label hypocrisy.

Edited to add: I posted this information earlier: While I appreciate the attention, I fear it’s undeserved. I was not the first journalist to report that the pilot was missing, nor that he was injured. I suppose the accusations are a testament to my timely reporting, but the fact is that The Guardian and two Israeli channels broke the story before I did. I imagine “Israeli Journalist Endangers American Pilot” makes a better headline--Amit Segal

Mea culpa. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong and have no trouble admitting it. However, why I was wrong is that the disparate and privileged treatment of Israel - and all things Israeli - by the US government has been so pervasive, for so long that myself and millions of other Americans have come to expect - though not agree - with it.

Also note that this post is not remotely "anti-Jewish" anymore than it would be if Romania received the same sort of special treatment accorded to Israel and I called it out. My comments would be directed at the country of Romania and not the millions of Romanians.

I also hate that I feel compelled to include the following disclaimer, but the topic is so sensitive that I feel I must: I have had many Jewish friends, have dated Jewish women and have been helped by Jewish business associates. Not every interaction I've had with Jews has been good, but this was no more or less so than dealings I've had with other groups.

What saddens me is that so many people are taking Trump beyond literally. Does anyone truly believe that Trump is going to nuke Iran out of existence? If you do, check your self in for TDS.
Are some power plants going to be hit yes. Will some bridges get hit yes. Could an underground facility possibly get a nuke. Maybe. These sites will have military values. Power transportation and equipment manufacture or hiding.
Everything is being done to get the people and what’s left of the military to turn against the regimes left over membership.
