TERRORISM UK police arrest several under explosives act in 'major incident' near US air base

Makes perfect sense :hmm:
About as much sense as President Trump saying "they had been watched".

Whether he was describing actual intel or just making off the cuff remarks it wasn't helpful considering I read they had all been released already.

My cynical side figured at least one was a "provocateur". Releasing them all may give "the asset" a chance to disappear if that's actually the case.

If all those people were displaced from their homes over stolen diesel this will be another "soup sandwich".

How long has it been since anything ever made sense? Even nefarious activity...

Why would fuel thieves from London drive hundreds of miles, past hundreds of farms, to steal red diesel from farms near an RAF base? Seems like a lot of effort when there are easier targets much closer to home.

Unless they were stealing from the base itself & had inside help.

I'm leaning towards the false flag scenario that got spun off the rails by random farmer trying to get into her driveway after a night of partying. She finds this crew blocking her way.

The farmer does what she's supposed to and calls 999 emergency number and no one picks up. Oops, that wasn't in the plan. So she calls the locals and the situation is handled, a bit awkwardly because the farmer thinks that some got away but no one seems to be looking for them. But the locals weren't supposed to be involved anyway.

Now there's a big mess to clean up because they let this crew all go. Time to obfuscate, misdirect, quick! find another story!!!

I think we got a WINNAH!

The Sun is now saying one of the suspects called the cops

Also no explosives were found only 55 gallon drums of petrol.

3 Transit vans filled with 55 gallon drums of petrol is gonna be pretty feckin explosive.
Obviously they've never heard of a thermobaric weapon.

According to this report, one of the suspects called the police before the farmer did.

How could the suspects flee into the woods if the police were already there? Why didn’t the farmer mention seeing police? I’m not disputing the farmer’s story…Right now the police account makes no sense.

EXCLUSIVE - RAF Fairford plot was foiled when one of the suspects phoned police himself.

“A farmer driving home in the early hours of Sunday morning saw the vans, surrounded by men in balaclavas, and alerted police at 1.36am. However, The Times understands the authorities were already on the scene by then because the suspect had called nearly one hour earlier.”

Did he get cold feet or was it part of the plan?

It accounts for the discrepancy between a farmer’s report and the police account

Police investigation is focused on alleged Iran proxies and suspect’s motives in calling 999 are also under investigation.

BREAKING: President Trump just RIPPED the UK authorities for releasing the 5 suspected terrorists that got close to attacking the RAF Fairford base, which is used by American troops

"How do you give bail to a TERRORIST?!"

"These were serious people, seriously bad people. And they should not have done that."

"I'm just disappointed that they caught terrorists. They did a good job, and then they sort of LET THEM GO! I don't know!"

Trump CONFIRMS the US was involved in this "longstanding" investigation

The UK is run by people with suic*dal empathy and it's now a threat to American national security

I am honestly wondering if they would have been caught by the UK if not for American assistance!

Those 5 men need to be re-arrested and placed in custody now. What's the worry, people would be offended? SECURITY COMES FIRST!

This story keeps smelling worse with every "official" explanation. As far as I can tell, no one believes it, which is probably for the best. But on the other hand, sometimes what people imagine may be true can end up being worse than the truth a government refuses to explain.

Which leads everyone closer to the explanation I hinted at, and many here have said outright: Who, in reality, was planning what exactly, and why? hmmm

We may find ourselves in a situation where surveillance may actually be so pervasive that the plot was flagged by AI. I use that term loosely so please don't nitpick.

Rather than admit that fact they hurriedly said one of the attackers called in on the group because the timeline of the local "farmer" didn't match to existing evidence.

The most logical assumption given current info was one was a provocateur. Letting them all out may protect said provocateur or parallel ops a little longer.

IF my speculation has any merit the next question would be: How many LIHOPs does the world endure?

Crazy times...

Eta: Let it happen on purpose...

Am starting to wonder if there is a conspiracy to start a world war from out of nowhere/ leftstage

Thanks, Danielboon. Now the UK Prime Minister is mentioning Iran. This is insane; it's confusing, probably on purpose. The public story has gone from a terrorist attack to just some petrol (gasoline) thieves, and now it's state-sponsored terror (but not Russia, as it was first claimed). This looks like a government fishing for a story, ANY STORY, that creates both confusion and/or an excuse. - Melodi

Watch: 'Strong indications' Iran played a part in RAF Fairford incident, Burnham says

The government believes that Iran played a part in the RAF Fairford incident which resulted in five men being arrested and then bailed, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said.

"There are strong indications that Iran played a part in what happened over the weekend at RAF Fairford," he told the BBC. He did not provide further details. Tehran has strongly denied any involvement.

Burnham's comments come after it emerged that one of the five men had dialled 999 himself before the group were arrested.

Asked why the suspects had been released on bail - a decision which has been openly questioned by President Donald Trump - the prime minister insisted the men were subject to the "strictest possible bail conditions" and added that UK authorities "have this under the strongest grip and closest control".

Speaking at the White House on Monday, Trump said: "I will tell you, I would have said, 'don't let them have bail'. I'm surprised that they released them. I wouldn't have done that."

But Burnham said: "I think people need to understand that when it says released - that isn't as people might think. It's obviously with the strictest possible bail conditions.

"The authorities have this under the strongest grip and closest control, and I can assure you of that." [lol - Melodi]

Burnham's comments come after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday that the incident at RAF Fairford "clearly involves the hands of a foreign actor".

Police said petrol but no explosive devices were found during searches of the vans found near the base

In an interview with Fox News on Monday, Rubio said "I think it ties us to the reality here, and that is we are dealing with elements in the world, and in the case of Iran, for example, who have openly threatened to attack American interests globally".

Burnham said that the government had been "talking to our counterparts in the United States all week to explain what is happening here, how things are being done", and that he had "complete confidence in the way British security services are handling this".

"We will say more in due course but we can confirm our belief that we believe Iran to have played a part," he told the BBC.

"Of course it remains an ongoing, complex and serious police investigation, and of course we are working closely with our colleagues in the United States of America," Burnham added.

The five men in question were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after police were alerted to "three suspicious vehicles" in Whelford, a village which lies directly east of the base.

They are all UK nationals aged between 23 and 25. Four of them live in Westminster and one in Camden, and searches of their homes are now complete.

The men were released on bail in what police described as an "investigative decision" that was "grounded in experience and strategy".

Police said a quantity of petrol but no explosive devices were found during searches of the vans.

The RAF base has been used as a forward operating location by the US Air Force for decades.

In recent months, US bombers have taken off from the base for the Middle East, after the UK approved a US request to use it for what it called defensive strikes on Iran.

In July, Iran said "any base used for aggression against Iranian territory constitutes a legitimate target for our forces".

However, the Iranian embassy in London has said it "categorically rejects and strongly condemns" any "unfounded and malicious speculations" linking Iran to the latest incident.

A map showing a map of RAF Fairford and the village of Whelford from a satellite view. A dotted line shows the 400m evacuation cordon around where the three suspicious vans were found and where the bomb disposal operates. Also labelled on the map are closed roads throughout the cordoned area and a point towards the south of the permiter where the five men arrested were pictured on the road.

JUST IN: President Trump reveals his administration is now SCRUTINIZING why the UK authorities RELEASED suspect terrorists after they tried BLOWING UP the RAF Fairford base

"The U.K. did release a number of people that we caught wanting to blow up a base!"

"We caught them early, and I'm trying to figure out if that's for real that they actually did it. Maybe they did it for a reason, but we're going to know about that this afternoon, so we'll report on it."

The people deserve answer ASAP! The fact even the TRUMP ADMIN isn't getting a proper explanation is troubling.

The UK is run by incompetent people!

One of five men arrested near RAF Fairford last weekend reportedly called police himself in the early hours of Sunday to tip them off about the alleged plot, fueling speculation he may have gotten cold feet about the operation. All five men in their 20s from London, were later released on bail after police found no explosives in the three vans they were driving, only barrels of fuel.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham now says there are "strong indications" Iran played a part in the plot, which reportedly targeted U.S. Air Force B-1B strategic bomber aircraft and personnel forward deployed to the base, a key staging point for operations against Iran.

An official familiar with the intelligence told The Wall Street Journal that a branch of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps had recruited UK nationals for the operation, which involved a diversion in the surrounding area. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously said a foreign actor was behind the attempt, and President Trump said the men intended serious damage to a base housing around a dozen heavy U.S. bombers.

Iran's Embassy in the UK has denied any connection, calling the claims "unfounded and malicious speculations."

BREAKING: Counter Terror Police have arrested a 27-year-old dual UK/Iranian national in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts over the RAF Fairford plot

Counter Terror Police said: "Counter Terrorism Policing has this afternoon (Thursday 1 October) made a further arrest in the investigation into activity that took place close to RAF Fairford on Sunday.

"A 27-year-old man, a dual UK/Iranian national, was arrested in the Borough of Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

"A second man, 26, who is a UK national, has also been questioned under caution.

"Searches of two properties have also been carried out in the same area"

Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicki Evans said:

"The investigation into circumstances surrounding events in Gloucestershire is hugely complex, and our specialist teams are interrogating multiple lines of enquiry.

"As we’ve made clear, we’re looking at all possible angles – including possible foreign state involvement. I’d like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation"

Five men in their 20s, who were arrested on Sunday 27 September, remain on police bail

The risk is higher than what they are saying.

Pulling out of an airbase in the UK...that's a major statement.

Lack of hard security?

Greater insight into the actual threat?

UK government isn't willing to call their immigration situation exactly what it is?

Trump is tired of the Brits being weenies?

Some of all that, adding up to a reason to pull out?

Some of the bases in the UK are absolutely un-defendable. RAF Fairford has public roads with throwing distance of the runway.

Just look for Youtube videos of aircraft operating there. The idea of someone with an AK or an RPG taking a shot at one of our planes from the nearby roads is more than scary.

I guess the big question is where are those planes sitting today? Looking at all the bases in the UK, there isn't a good replacement for Fairford, since RAF Greenham Common, built as a B-36 base, was closed and the runway bulldozed over worries about aircraft and the UK's "Oak Ridge" built less than 5 miles off the end of the runway (dumb ass move to build it there).

Given the current political situation and threat, my bet is those planes and crews are enjoying warm sunny weather at that Indian Ocean locale called Diego Garcia.

UK is a trash country…It doesn’t deserve anything from us…

We are through the looking glass now. Police have put an entire British town under a Section 34 dispersal order (meaning they can even order residents to leave and not return) just so they can import a boat full of illegal immigrants.

Those orders do not work if the cops get swarmed.
