Students at the University of Washington are demanding a relaxed grading policy to help black students “cope emotionally” with the ongoing protests and riots that have erupted in major cities around the nation after George Floyd died during an arrest on May 26 in Minneapolis. According to a student petition with 50,000 signatures, “If UW truly understands our pain, UW will be a part of alleviating it.”

According to a report by Campus Reform, students at the University of Washington are urging officials to adopt a relaxed grading policy for black students so that they can “cope” with the recent unrest.

Students at the university are circulating a pre-written email for professors to send to students that may be struggling as a result of the ongoing unrest. “I am writing to you to offer accommodations for black students in this class during the end of this class and finals,” the email reads.

Nearly 50,000 students have signed a petition to urge university officials to adopt an easier grading standard for Black students.

“We are tired of empty words and promises. We are tired of sentimental emails that do not materialize. Give us equitable responses that meet our needs now!” the petition reads. “You need to encourage and demand professors to accommodate their black students during this time. If UW truly understands our pain, UW will be a part of alleviating it.”

“We can’t sit back and watch as injustices unfold before our eyes. We don’t have the privilege that white and non-black students do to ignore what’s happening and stay at home to study for finals,” the petition continues. We are busy fighting for our rights and for the rights of future black children and students to sit down and study. The least UW could do is demand professors to accommodate us during this time.”

Breitbart News reported this week that students at UC San Diego were using the protests and riots to demand passing grades on their final exams.

Several Universities have already eliminated the requirement for applicants to take SAT, PSAT, and ACT tests. Seems their little darlings couldn't score well when they were tested on their supposed knowledge from their substandard schooling...

… and they were already using special diversity scale add-ins to boost their scores in the algorithms so they could get preferential treatment in admissions

They offer several worthless degree programs (Black studies, women's studies, etc.) which only require them to build the skills to become outspoken and racists idiots for the cause.

And this bullshit happens to almost everybody anywhere in this country that hires a groid, is it all of them? no, but it's a damn high percentage, the two white ladies I've worked closely with over the last 15 years are amazed at how I can predict the behavior of the several "sistas" that we've had roll through the office over the last 6 or 7 years.

This has been the problem since the beginning of school integration in the 50’s. Lowering standards has damaged this country and many just don’t know or care. I have always said that we the people have to hold accountable all law makers past and present for the crap they mandate.

I vaguely seem to remember when the Denver Public Schools tried the whole pass/fail thing when my kids were in elementary and junior high.

It was a joke. Still have one who can't spell well, but he's vastly improved over the years. But, that's when they were also doing Phonics (I spelled it Phonies), so as long as he could do it phoenitically (sp) it was ok (wasn't to me and we had a massive argument with his teacher over that).

When reality bites them in the ass, meaning they realize that those diplomas are worth exactly the cost to print them, the grades won't really matter will they?

If you aren't going to college for STEM, get a library card and you can achieve the same level of knowledge. If you are lowering the standards for STEM, I believe I should be able to ask my surgeon to see his transcripts before he cuts me open.
