Truth Social's Premium Data Feed Offers Speed to Traders for $100K Monthly
Summary:
- Trump Media will sell a data feed giving financial firms quicker access to posts from President Trump and nine other top Truth Social accounts.
- The highest-speed tier costs $100,000 per month, with a three-year commitment reducing the price to $60,000 monthly.
- Two U.S. senators and a watchdog group argue the arrangement raises serious ethical questions about profiting from the presidency.
Now Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, is building a way to profit from that speed. The company plans to launch a data feed called Truth API on August 1 that gives paying clients faster access to posts from Trump and nine other accounts on the platform.
Trump Media says it has already signed up customers but has not named them.
Who Will Pay and Why
High-frequency trading firms are the most probable subscribers for this service. These companies generate profits by reacting to market-moving information fractions of a second before anyone else. When a post from a top Truth Social account can send stocks soaring or sinking, getting that post even a few milliseconds earlier is worth a lot.Get the market news that matters in a five-minute read with Market Briefs, our free daily newsletter
The feed covers 10 accounts total. In addition to Trump himself, the list includes two of his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, plus prominent supporters like Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity. All of them have large followings and posts that can quickly influence sentiment.
Trump Media is also looking for new revenue. The company's stock, which trades under the ticker DJT, has dropped roughly 27% this year. On the most recent Friday it closed at $9.66, which values the company at $2.7 billion.
Approximately 114.75 million shares, or about 41% of total outstanding stock, are held by the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, making Trump the largest shareholder and beneficiary. Trump reported $1.4 billion in income from his family's crypto ventures in his most recent financial disclosure. The Truth API feed is another potential source of cash.
Criticism and Ethics Debate
The plan has drawn sharp criticism. Ron Wyden, a Democratic senator from Oregon who serves on the Finance Committee, argued the deal enriches the Trump family and gives profits to Wall Street traders. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts called it "an egregious scheme to profit off the presidency and enrich Wall Street while doing nothing to help Americans." Donald Sherman, the head of the nonpartisan watchdog group CREW, described the plan as "wildly unethical." He also noted that Congress and regulators likely never anticipated this kind of paid access arrangement involving a president whose posts move markets. The controversy has reignited broader questions about whether policymakers need to craft new rules to prevent presidents from monetizing market-moving communications. Existing insider-trading laws and constitutional emoluments clauses, legal experts say, probably do not apply here.
The White House directed questions about the criticism to Trump Media.

Wall Street traders can soon pay for early looks at Truth Social posts
President Trump’s social media platform announced plans Thursday to sell Wall Street firms early access to its “most market-moving” posts.Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social, said it would launch “Truth API” — a direct data feed that would give investment firms “real-time access to posts from the highest-ranking Truth Social accounts.”
Trump launched Truth Social in February 2022 and has used it as his primary method of direct written communication. During his second presidential term, Trump has announced dozens of significant changes to administration policy or military operations, often swaying the stock market along the way.
Application programming interfaces (APIs) are data streams commonly offered by a wide range of companies and organizations that are meant to provide immediate and secure access to information.
Both amateur and professional investors use APIs of key financial or economic data, including one offered by the Labor Department, to craft their trades.
Truth API, which TMTG aims to launch Aug. 1, would give the nation’s top investment firms the earliest access to market-moving posts on Truth Social, allowing algorithmic trading programs to act even quicker on the news.
“Markets already move on Truth Social posts,” said TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn. “Truth API delivers a direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform’s most market-moving Truths while advancing our strategy to monetize proprietary assets through a high-margin, recurring revenue stream.
“As adoption grows, we expect Truth API to become a meaningful, ongoing source of revenue for the company, creating lasting value for shareholders,” he continued.
Truth API could create another venue through which Trump could personally profit through a connection to his presidency.
Trump indirectly owns roughly 53 percent of TMTG through shares he transferred to a trust in December 2024, one month before he took office, amid growing concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
Earlier this month, the president disclosed making more than $2 billion in income during his first year back in office, including more than $1 billion in income linked to World Liberty Financial, his family’s cryptocurrency company.
Despite his skepticism of the technology during his first presidential term, Trump embraced cryptocurrency ahead of his 2024 presidential campaign. Soon after, his family crypto company launched several products, including a stablecoin. After taking office, Trump pushed for bills that would advance the cryptocurrency industry and signed a measure to set clear regulations for stablecoins.
Trump has also called on the Senate to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a major bipartisan cryptocurrency regulation bill that is the industry’s top legislative priority.
When pressed on his presidential profits earlier this month, Trump said he has no involvement with the management of his money.
“I don’t get involved in my personal. We have funds that run my money,” Trump told reporters during a July 1 gaggle.
“They invest my money. I don’t talk to them. I don’t even speak to them,” he said. “So, I have many people, I don’t know what they call them, closed accounts or something, you put their money and that’s it. I don’t talk to them. They’re big institutions, and they run it.”
In an interview with CNBC the next day, Trump insisted there was “nothing illegal” about his cryptocurrency profits and that his interest in the industry is driven by competition with China.
“I could know about it. I didn’t. There’s nothing illegal. There’s nothing wrong with it I could know,” Trump said.
“The way I view crypto is a little differently: We have to be at the top,“ he said. “Like, for instance, AI. We’re leading substantially in AI over China and everybody else.”
Trump Media pitched $100,000 monthly fee for fastest feed of U.S. president’s posts, sources say
Donald Trump’s social media company has discussed charging Wall Street traders and investment firms as much as $100,000 a month for faster access to the U.S. president’s posts on his Truth Social platform, according to people familiar with the matter.Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, has in recent weeks also pitched a discounted plan of $60,000 per month if the firms sign up for a three-year plan, the sources said, requesting anonymity as the discussions are confidential.
TMTG on Thursday unveiled a paid-for, licensed data feed called “Truth API” to provide banks and trading firms the fastest access to posts from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts, but did not give any pricing details.
The move would be the company’s first step into data licensing, opening up a new revenue stream, although it drew immediate criticism from Democrats.
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said it would financially benefit the Trump family and “make Wall Street traders rich.”
The White House referred questions on Wyden’s remarks to TMTG, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump’s social media posts often move markets, and the profits of many top trading firms, hedge funds and financial services firms depend heavily on the speed at which they can execute trades.
On April 9, 2025, for example, Wall Street’s main indexes turned sharply higher after Trump said in a Truth Social post that he would pause many of his new tariffs for 90 days.
Access to the Truth API would be essential for high-frequency trading firms as a speed advantage of just a few milliseconds can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars of gains on big trades, the sources said.
The Financial Times reported the discussions on the $100,000 subscription fee earlier on Thursday.
Profit from policy announcements
TMTG has faced challenges in ramping up its media business amid intense competition from larger social media firms. The new product will provide round-the-clock coverage of influential posts and include an archive of posts dating back to 2022. The company said it has already signed up customers ahead of the August 1 launch, but did not say who they are. Some of the most-followed accounts on Truth Social belong to Trump himself and those closely aligned with him, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, as well as prominent supporters such as Dan Bongino and Sean Hannity.
The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust holds roughly 114.75 million shares, representing about 41% of all outstanding stock in TMTG, according to regulatory filings. The trust, which his children oversee, administers Trump’s investments.
Critics have raised questions around whether Trump and his family have sought to boost their fortunes by profiting off policies announced by his administration. In his most recent financial disclosures, Trump reported more than $1.4 billion in income from his family’s crypto ventures last year, after his income from digital assets benefited from policies he had announced.
The Truth API arrangement would be “wildly unethical,” said Donald Sherman, president of the nonpartisan watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, because the president stands to benefit from payments for faster access to his posts. However, it is difficult to determine from publicly available information whether it is illegal, he said.
Sherman and other experts note that the Constitution’s emoluments clauses, designed to thwart corruption, would not apply in this case. They bar federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments without congressional approval, and the president from receiving gifts from states.
And while federal regulations broadly prohibit the buying or selling of a security based on material, non-public information, that restriction would not apply if potentially hundreds or thousands of people receive earlier access to his posts, Sherman said.
“I don’t think Congress or any regulatory body ever contemplated that a president or a market-mover would engage in this kind of paying-for-access type arrangement,” he said.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, said it was “an egregious scheme to profit off the presidency and enrich Wall Street while doing nothing to help Americans.”
While the White House has said Trump’s business empire is overseen by his children, the president is the beneficiary of the income that flows into his trust.
Shares of TMTG, which have shed roughly 27% of their value this year, closed roughly flat at $9.66 on Friday, giving the company a market value of about $2.7 billion.

There's now an API for mainlining Trump's Truth Social posts
Trump Media and Technology Group, the company behind social media platform Truth Social, has announced it will sell access to Truth Social posts through a new API. When it becomes available on August 1, the new Truth API will give businesses "real-time access to posts from the highest-ranking Truth Social accounts" — a direct pipe from President Donald Trump's favorite social media site to anyone trying to make investments based on his posts.
"Truth API uses familiar, industry-standard delivery methods to deliver Truth Social posts to our customers in milliseconds," Trump Media says. "It is expected to provide continuous 24/7 coverage and includes a historical archive of posts dating back to 2022."
Other social media sites have offered free or paid access to their APIs in the past for building clients to view posts or other features. Twitter notably closed free access to its API in 2023, not long after it was purchased by Elon Musk. The difference here, as TMTG CEO Kevin McGurn notes, is that "markets already move on Truth Social posts."
One likely reason for that is Truth Social's most popular user, President Trump. Besides being a majority shareholder in the platform's owner through his trust, Trump is also Truth Social's most followed user, with around 12.9 million followers as of July 2026. The President frequently announces major new policies and governmental actions through Truth Social before they trickle out through official channels.
Trump Media expects offering unfettered access to posts to be "a meaningful, ongoing source of revenue for the company, creating lasting value for shareholders," including the President's family. If that doesn't work, there's always the nuclear fusion business Trump Media merged with last year.
