They can do it easily. But does that mean you also push back the athletic schedules? That's a huge problem because it means more late nights for athletes on away games. Or you keep the athletic schedules the same. Those same students are missing the last period, could be even the last two class periods routinely. As a retired teacher with a long history of dealing with that, I can tell you that's a problem.

Any state can go to permanent standard time anytime they want. No need for Congressional action at all. It's going to permanent DST that requires Congressional action. Whine all you want to, that's the way the federal law was written. I think the states that passed laws allowing them to go to permanent DST just as soon as the feds allow it knew exactly what they were doing, and now they go back to the peasants and say, "See? We did our parts! It's the federal government that is the problem now!"

I am a big fan of permanent standard...or a 24 hour time. But...

Yeah, push back athletic schedules just like school start time. Basically, run all school programs on "standard" time. It's not that complicated!

Absolutely. Arizona has been doing it since 1968. They don't have any problems with it.

The kids will adjust to a permanent change a lot quicker than if they have to adjust to a change every 6 months.

Or simply start and end school at different times instead of penalizing everyone that is an adult and actually works and contributes to society. It isn't that big a friggin' deal.

I work outside every day of the year and for several weeks the sun won't be up until after 8:30 AM, I really don't care about the schools since they have lights and are inside however spending an extra hour working in the dark is a big friggin' deal to me and everyone else that works outside.
