I love it in the summer when I can sit out until 9:30.
This last time change to Standard time has me messed up, still.
I haven't adjusted to it yet.

I'd rather have a little more daylight at night myself, and I don't really mind giving up an hour of late-summer daylight to get it. Fireworks would start at 9:30 on the Fourth instead of 10:30, and I'm much better with that.

Your high noon isn't the same at NYC's high noon which isn't the same at D.C.'s high noon which isn't the same as Atlanta's high noon (and that's just on the East Coast). How do you coordinate a simple phone or Zoom call?

I get that for sure. But I suspect kids need it in the mornings, going to school, walking, riding the subway, buses etc....

This. My son pointed out this morning that if we go to full-year DST then kids will be leaving for school in the dark for most of the year.

Thanks for pointing out that kids will be standing at bus stops in total darkness again! It doesn't have to be this way. And people will say that DST is better for spring sports. No.
Before 9/11, DST began early April. I used to help with the track team and we never had a problem with either practice or events being held in Standard Time. Keeping with Standard Time would be better for everyone in the long run.

Around here, the poor little darlings don't have to walk anywhere because the buses stop in front of every door.
Usually, mom is sitting in the car with them so thjeir precious little thumbs don't get cold.
From the time I was in 1st grade, I walked at least 1/2 mile (uphill both ways) to catch the bus.
Keep daylight for after school in the rare chance they might go outside after school and play on their phones to get their thumb exercise.
It doesn't take an act of Congress to change the schedule of schools or any event.

The same way we do right now. Using time zones. No need to cut 6 inches off the top of the blanket to add it to the bottom and pretend it's a longer blanket.

Personally, I don't give a flying eff. Just pick a time and quit effing with it every 6 months!!!
It drives me insane and always has and I have never heard a convincing reason to continue it.

I would guess most kids would rather have more daylight at the end of their day, when they can enjoy it.
That said, I don't really care which one we pick. Just, for the love of all that's holy, PICK one and STAY there.

Zones are UTC plus/minus X number of hours for local time, depending on your time zone.
If we would all use the exact same time and not adjust it for local zones, then our work hours would like the airport "Attended Hours". Trust me, after 1700 local time you're on your own. good thing they have self-service AvGas pumps.
Need Jet A? Outta luck.
I'm for sticking to Standard Time. If you need more sunlight to finish your job, get up an hour earlier, or get off some money and buy a worklight ya' cheap rascal.

But then your high noon might not actually be at high noon. I thought your point was you wanted your high noon to be when the shadow is shortest on a sundial at your location (at least that's my definition of high noon), and that's simply not true of all locations in a time zone. It really doesn't take much distance for a significant change in the local times based only on the sun's location in the sky (maybe as little as 50 miles?).
When I was a kid living in a very small town in Oklahoma, I thought they had the most brilliant schedule. We didn't go to school until 9:00 and got out at 3:30...lots of farm kids there needed to help with morning chores. We had a full schedule just some of the unnecessary useless stuff cut out during the day. I had no trouble walking home before dark. We always had supper earlier when we lived there so it was usually ready not long after I got home. They also didn't overload kids with homework either. It was, by far, the best place I ever lived as far as community, etc.
I've never been a morning person, no matter how much sleep I get and I love daylight savings time! It's an instant mood lifter for me. Of course, at our ages, it shouldn't matter anyway. Most of us can put our clocks where we darn well please, grandpa did. He hated DLST and refused to change his clocks. It didn't matter because he had nowhere to go. I spent a lot of time with them during the summer and what the clock on the wall said didn't make much difference in my life. I could add and subtract lol.

I either walked to school 10 blocks while in Zion, Ill, if it had of been 11, I could have rode the bus. Or when we moved to MS and actually lived out in the sticks, never ever walk or stood in the dark waiting on the bus. Ever.
For you to do that, I guess your sticks would have to have been where the it is so far back it takes the sun an extra day to get there. So my odd comment.

As I wrote before, the school bus run WAS an issue in the early 1970s during the year I was in Jr. College, and the US "saved" energy by having daylight savings all year round. But that was a different time; most of the kids that were profoundly affected were in rural agricultural areas of the Northwest, and their parents had serious concerns about standing about in the dark, during blizzard conditions, or even walking two miles to the bus stop itself, in the dark.
Back then, agriculture was a big voting bloc, and the agricultural communities were furious. That wasn't the only reason the program was dropped; it also doesn't actually save much energy. Not to mention a lot of other people hated it, I was in rural Mississippi (Hinds Jr. College), and I disliked going to breakfast and even first class in the dark, though it wasn't that bad because I lived in a dorm on campus.
I don't think the problems we had back then would be the same today, for one thing, how many kids walk two miles just to the bus stop? A few, I'm sure, but it probably isn't common, at least not in the United States.
I am also of the opinion that: For God's Sake, Pick One and Stop Changing IT!
