POL Trump promises $5,000 dividends to U.S. citizens if GOP takes both chambers

After having some thought put into this, I find that this is a very bad idea.

You see, $5,000 per person will drive the cost of everything up 5x. Each time there are hand outs, something that once cost $1 will now be $5. Extrapolate that out, and you'll get my gist; further devaluation of the dollar.

Envision that picture of Germany where it would take a wheelbarrow of cash just to buy a loaf of bread type of scenario.

Actually Trump handed out more free $$$ during COVID than Biden:

President Donald Trump
    • March 2020 (CARES Act): Signed a $2.2 trillion relief package providing up to $1,200 per eligible adult. These physical checks famously featured Trump's name in the memo line.
    • December 2020 (CRRSAA): Signed a $900 billion relief package providing up to $600 per eligible adult.
President Joe Biden
    • March 2021 (American Rescue Plan): Signed a $1.9 trillion relief package providing up to $1,400 per eligible adult.
Actually NO..

The Democrat controlled House passed those Bills and handed out all those dollars (you know, the body where spending bills have to originate), since the Democrats took over the House in 2018.

Here is Trump at the signing ceremony for the CARES Act in March 2020 were he signed the bill.

He does not appear to be under duress when he signed the bill into law, which then sent out the first batch of “COVID checks”.

To the contrary, he seems quite proud to be signing what he describes as the “largest relief package in history” and goes on to brag about the sums of $$ people would be receiving. His administration was so proud of this that they ensured that his name would be printed on every relief check so that people would associate the payments with him.

Q: On the checks, we have $40 trillion in debt. If your economic policies are working, why do you need an incentive for people to turn out to vote?

TRUMP: I'm doing it as a reward for people having to put up for five years and four years of a horrible situation caused by Biden

Q: You also offered tariff refund checks--

TRUMP: Not you. Not you

Q: And that didn't happen

TRUMP: Not you. You're the worst

Here's how the system works. There's nothing for Trump to sign, if the Bill isn't passed in the Congress first.
He could have vetoed the bill.

Was Biden in office for 9 years?

That's taking it a little farther down the doom road that I'd go, but darned right a $5000 windfall across the board is going to cause COL to rise (again) for everything we buy. Too many $$$'s chasing the goods. Basic economics.

Agreed, but it is going up already. So this is just a matter of a bit of speed.

Actually Obama was... For 12 years

Do you know how executive orders work?
Yeah, the president can't spend money, that has to be allocated by Congress.

Authority of the President Regarding Spending

No, a president cannot spend money with an executive order. The power of the purse is held by Congress, and any spending must be authorized through legislation.

Role of Executive Orders

  • Executive orders allow the president to direct how federal agencies implement laws but do not grant the authority to spend money.
  • An executive order cannot create new spending obligations or override existing laws passed by Congress.

How's that?

He could have vetoed the bill.
When was the last time a President vetoed a Bill, passed by Congress?

Last Presidential Veto

The most recent presidential veto occurred on December 23, 2020.

Details of the Veto

  • President: Donald Trump
  • Bill: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021
  • Outcome: This veto was overridden by Congress on January 1, 2021.
This marks the last instance of a presidential veto in the United States.

You are deflecting. He could have chosen to veto the CARES Bill but chose not to. It is irrelevant as to when the last bill was vetoed.

How's that?
So this makes his $5000 "promise" worthless as he cant actually make that commitment. It has to come from Congress

If you really think that Trump should have vetoed it, after a 96-0 vote in the Senate, when the country was in the middle of the Covid panic, then I can't help you understand.

Once again, after 11 years, if you don't understand how Trump operates, I can't help you here, either.

It would be great if … we … the American citizens knew where all the tens of millions of dollars in monetary support given to support illegal invaders for the last 6 years went to. How much money?

Not including the tax dollars scammed by BS learing centers and other scams by these very illegals. “Our” tax dollars scams. And the pressure put on our health systems that real Americans depend on and are stuck waiting in an emergency room to some gang bang illegal got hurt in a street fight or some illegal having her baby and treated for free. Or illegals flooding our school system crowding classrooms taking away from teachers trying to help everyone. Or in some towns becoming police officers. Growing Muzzy American hating communities.

But when real Americans who have “ALL” the skin in the games … one would think comes first. We’re funding all the BS scams … everywhere we look … it would make your head spin.

There is the real cost of what is driving up costs exponentially. The grift … and “WE” don’t get any.

And here we sit proudly doing the right thing. Saying no to the $5000 suggestion. It’s your money, money supposedly clawed back from those abusing us. It would be better if it was clawed back from the grifting cheating welfare system. They say they’re doing. My one complaint is where is all the money they’ve found from grift now stopped now going to.

Look above … there’s our problem. Just 4 states. It isn’t real Americans getting back some of their money. Regardless … if you want to blame tariffs as making our cost of living go up … they will be even more necessary to support the illegals moving forward as “they’re” a net drain per individual on our tax dollars … and never legally immigrated here. They shouldn’t receive a penny. And that doesn’t include their scams, and paybacks to politicians. It’s more than what is shown or told.

Yeah … shame on us maybe getting some of our money back.

Seems this was not too far off the mark - “Watching the “conservative” spin on this will be epic”

Four states that it has been reported. There are MANY others. Like recently discovered Maine "Learing" Centers.
And Democratic Candidates getting "kick-back" from the NGOs - and not revealing the sources of their election funding.

And more...

Google AI:
Recent federal and state investigations have highlighted significant billing and compliance issues—including a $46 million federal audit finding of improper payments—in Maine's MaineCare (Medicaid) programs, rather than a specific widespread scam targeting private academic "learning centers".

Let's test that principle.

You are surrounded by 10 people- a group in which you are the leader. Your "gang" is given the power to vote on things and you can veto the vote if you are against their spoken choices, but if 7 of them stay with their position, their rule passes.

The topic was stated and all 10 of them came forward with a vote of YES. The topic was to kill you, the leader. Would you veto it and buy some time and hopefully sway 4 people in your favor?

Fully agree with you and good information! However, consider that the money is already spent on things against you and your fellow Americans. You can never get that money back. What Trump is (i think jokingly) promising, is a dip into more future debt. He is inviting us to partake in a very small part of raping the American financial system while others are walking away with $billions.

Wow...

You're comparing a Covid relief bill vote to a vote to kill you?

Really? :eye:

There are no words...... :shkr:

Doubling down on stupid…..

Trump is going all in on making the mid-terms entirely about him and his $5k bribe.

I was showing you how principles work. A principle is a truth at all extremes. I made that definition up years ago, so if you find fault in it, I would gladly improve it.

The point here that you seemed to miss, and this is happening about every post with you, is that when you are in favor of something because it is the right thing to do, it matters not what everyone else does. So, Trump was either unprincipled or he agreed with the crowd.

Perhaps not constitutionally sound. Is not the Legislative Branch the source and approval for all funding? They may even set the destination(s) for funding too.

Granted, Trump likely has a "budget" that Congress has allowed him - and the charge by them to spend it - and it is Trump's task to spend it "well," however he decides to do that.

The solution if he does not is with Congress - but its rather extreme at "Impeachment." Somehow I don't think that is going to happen - at least not currently.

We could all horselaugh and say "Judicial Stay in 3, 2, 1..."

Seems like perfect chaff for "lawfare"...

Maybe that's Trump's REAL point with the election looming...
