President Donald Trump on Wednesday promised that he would issue payments of $5,000 to every U.S. citizen if the Republicans win both chambers in the midterms.

"And here is my promise: if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them ... I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000," Trump declared during his speech to the GOP midterm convention. "Very much like a successful company will do a cash distribution to its shareholders."

Trump went on to tout the success of his Trump accounts program and likened it to prior payments to U.S. military service members.

"But the only condition on the payment of this dividend that we're going to be making. So it's $5,000 to every adult. The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we're making must be spent in the United States of America," he added.

"So if the Republicans win, you win with us, and you get $5,000, it will be called the Trump dividend," he went on.

Perhaps not constitutionally sound. Is not the Legislative Branch the source and approval for all funding? They may even set the destination(s) for funding too.

Granted, Trump likely has a "budget" that Congress has allowed him - and the charge by them to spend it - and it is Trump's task to spend it "well," however he decides to do that.

The solution if he does not is with Congress - but its rather extreme at "Impeachment." Somehow I don't think that is going to happen - at least not currently.

We could all horselaugh and say "Judicial Stay in 3, 2, 1..."

Seems like perfect chaff for "lawfare"...

Maybe that's Trump's REAL point with the election looming...

Dems have been doing it since FDR. Blacks used to vote GOP and LBJ changed all that with the 'Great Society' and free stuff. What about free Healthcare, free daycare, forgive student loans, free tuition for all, reparations, and I haven't even mentioned the Mamdani stuff yet.

Where do Dems go now? Will this represent the only time in history when Democrats come out against the government issuing money to people or do they up the ante and promise $10K? He's trolling them for the midterms.

I never said it's going to happen, I'm saying he's trolling the Dems. Saying he'd give $5000 to American Citizens instead of illegals has all the right people angry and outraged

The first person to spend the $5000 benefits the most because prices haven't caught up yet. In this case that would be Trump with his vote buying scheme. For the rest of us normies, the cost of living just goes up by that same $5000. Net nothing but more inflation.

Unpopular opinion: This is a brilliant political strategy, even if it’s a dumb idea.

Let’s be honest, Trump isn’t going to lose any votes from his base because of this. A lot of fiscal conservatives (myself included) will point out giving out 1.2 trillion in stimulus checks when we’re already 40 trillion in debt is just digging us deeper into a hole we already don’t know if we can get out of, but at the end of the day what’s the difference between 40 trillion and 41 trillion when we borrow almost 2 trillion a year anyway. 2.3 billion was given out in stimulus after COVID and we’re still here so anyone screaming about hyperinflation is being dramatic.

Now, here’s why it might actually be a brilliant move that could save us from economic collapse even though it makes no sense economically.

Trump didn’t get this country 40 trillion in debt, Congress did. Yet regardless of that, every single year the left tells their voters they’re going to spend more money and give them free shit and they keep, ****ing, voting for them because they care about free shit more than they care about the debt.

The problem they’re facing now is the only people getting free shit from the democrats are illegals, drug addicts, criminals, and fraudsters. The working class has been completely ignored and hasn’t seen a dime from democrat leadership and they’re the majority of the party.

Now think about all those forgotten men and women who just saw Trump offer them $5000 just for being an American citizen if they help us win instead of their leaders promising to spend their tax dollars on giving citizenship to illegals, getting criminals out of jail, and putting a vending machine with free heroin needles on every corner.

How many people do you think will take that deal and vote red in November for the first time? It’s definitely not zero.

Democrats will destroy this country, and 1.2 trillion added to the debt will be nothing compared to what they’ll spend if they regain power and push through their socialist agenda. So while I don’t love the idea of Trump digging us a little deeper in the hole we’re in, it’s a lot better than handing the shovel to the left so they can dig our grave.

I had a very senior client who was in the LBJ cabinet in the 60s who personally heard him proudly proclaim out loud that passing his Great Society welfare plan “will assure that them there niggras will now vote democrat for the next 100 years.”

So, IF, and that’s a big friggin IF, he does give this to every adult, how is he going to make sure it is spent in the USA?

What tracking method will be used.

Oh wait, maybe you can only use it as a down payment on a new American made car.

There is always a catch with his promises, if they materialize.
 
I don't like this. We wanted to stop the government from squandering away tax dollars and get the budget and debt under control. This is not that. This kind of reeks of just trying to buy votes, and while it technically may not be, it still is, and it's worrisome. Plus it's a really bad look for the Republican party. :/
