ECON Trump: "Prices are down, income is up, our Border is closed, gasoline is CHEAP, inflation is DEAD"

He's overselling his position here. Classic Donald in play.

I'm getting more frustrated by the day with the lack of overall government action. SSDD is the mantra.

No, I don't have time to go knocking on doors at the capital, too busy trying to survive out here. Wouldn't do any good anyway, I don't have the money to buy a politician or 535 like certain oligarchs.

Prices are down, income is up, our Border is closed, gasoline is CHEAP, inflation is DEAD — Our Country is BOOMING! Companies are pouring into America like never before!
Yeah, and millions of our enemies are here, hidden, waiting to strike- with or without millions of others, elsewhere, locked, cocked, and ready to rock. What’s wrong with the picture of “being nice” to antagonistic foreign tyrants desiring our deaths? Do we no longer label and prepare to destroy our enemies? Or, do we seek to talk them into a deep slumber? Being subservient to our enemies is not the way to stay free.

If it’s not too late, build our military to be the strongest on the planet- against all comers. What about the terrorists here? Track ’em down, squeeze ‘em, disappear ‘em.

America will not, cannot, survive as Caspar Milquetoast, or Walter Mitty. Our enemies, both foreign and domestic, hate our ever lovin’ guts. They want us as slaves, or dead. Never, ever, forget that. I have to wonder if the President has “lost the ball.” Do our enemies fear or respect us? Look deep, then you decide…

Finally not a lurker!
Except for the last one, not really.
Where I am, gas is still hovering around 3 bux/gal, meat continues to sky rocket along with everything else, and the border may be closed, but the infection is still in the body.
Gas on base up eight cents since yesterday.

None of this is happening in Northern California- sadly as long as the libs stay in power here, nothing will ever change. The rest of the country might do fantastically, but here...not so much. And no, not all of us voted for this; contrary to popular belief not everyone in California is a liberal fruit and/or nut.

The super majority here just voted for a .65 gas tax increase, that puts some areas here around 8.00 a gallon. I go to the market, food prices are still going up...and jobs pfffft...not happening.

On the flip side, I think the border situation is better, getting illegals out is happening...well, not here so much but the rest of the country seems to be getting cleaned up-
My water bill is close to a 1000 or better every 2 months here in S.CA high desert. Just got the bill for my PO Box 424. Registration for our 2005 GMC almost 500. And the ridiculous price they are getting for halibut give me a break. I could go on and on. Electric and gas keep increasing.A rented room in someone's house with a shared bath 800. And it would take an army to clean up illegals here. So the golden golem doesn't live in the real world anymore than the rest of the billionaires do.

Beware the subtle BS in the message that "inflation is down". Reality is, that the RATE of inflation (how far & fast it's going up) has slowed down; that's all. NOT that it's actually reversing. What we see in store prices, is merely the tip of the iceberg here.

but its a moving target. BLS says employment is at 159,561,000 for May. They compare it to a REVISED April figure of 159,422,000. But last month the April figure was 159,517,000. so compared to the original April figure, payrolls increased 44,000. so, not buying it...... THIS.

Us average folks are still walking out of the grocery store with a BAG of groceries that cost us $80 to $100.

Our house insurance and our car & truck insurance all went up about 12% this year.
Gas is $3.19 and eggs are $4.99/dz. Both items have been that price for months.
Overall our grocery bills continue to creep up.
We stopped in the Dollar Tree a couple days ago, many items are now marked $1.50 instead of $1.25 (about a 20% increase).
How can there be so many "new" jobs when we hear about so many big companies laying off thousands of workers?
The real estate market is teetering toward a fall because of record numbers of houses for sale that no one can afford to buy.

I do not blame Trump for any of that. I don't think he is helping but really I cannot think of what he could do to make things better other than to veto every spending bill sent to his desk.
He did close the border :applaud: but so much damage has been done there that I don't think we could ever recover.

Bought gas yesterday here in Upstate SC for $2.49 / gallon and did not have to hunt for that price. Still some places wanting $2.75 - $2.79 but a lot of placed under $2.54
Yes. What some people don't realize is that their gas prices will never hit rock bottom, because their home state taxes the living life out of them for gas tax. Then, there's 18.4 cents/gal. Fed tax on top of that.

Here's a link to an interactive map of state gas taxes across the country.

I think that as long as bond yields keep rising Powell has a reason to keep rates the same.

Market close.

Ain't seen prices down .... my income is flat .... border is much better ... gas isn't cheap at all and has been bouncing around here .... ain't seen prices rise as much but they've still gone up a little when I've shopped.

I'll give him 1 out of 5

Here, gas is down from recent prices of 3.29-3.39 to 2.89, with Sam's recently at 2.83. Eggs are down significantly, overcoming the unnecessary cull which may have been done as a FU! to the incoming administration.

Income is calculated as an aggregate, and it's unlikely folks (individuals) will see it unless their review has come and gone recently, and let's face it - businesses are reticent to give pay raises (generally) unless there's pressure to do so.

The Border is a completely different situation these days, an unmitigated win. Now, convincing the illegals to go home, whether by themselves or with escort, is the major challenge. Massive fines for Employers who utilize those here illegally and cutting off benefits would help, but risks political backlash.

All in all, better, but seriously mitigated by Judicial, Political and DS operations both here and around the Globe.

I’ll give him 2 out of the 5. The border is much better than it was, and yes gas is cheap - when using old US silver coinage as the metric. A 1964 or earlier silver dime is worth about $2.65 today in so-called Federal Reserve funny money. And what does a gallon of gas cost in my AO? About $2.65. So in terms of real money, gas is about 10 cents per gallon. And that was what it cost during the price wars in the 1950’s.

But the other stuff on Trump’s list - uh, no!

My car needs premium, and the best price in Boise according to gas buddy is currently $3.49/gal. Eggs are down to around $3.99/doz (which is better than over $10), but meat is outrageously expensive (the cheapest burger is around $6.99/lb). The city announced that they'll be hiking property taxes to the maximum allowed by statute (3%), the power company & gas companies are both hiking rates, and everyone's insurance keeps going up. The house I purchased in 2019 is now being assessed for considerably more, the lowest cost apartments in the area start at around $1100.00 a month and wages remain flat with the "average" income in the area being around $45k. I worry about our senior citizens and young people. I suppose some things are slightly better (eggs), but overall, the trend is still ruinously upwards.

Some things are dropping. Gas here is around $2.55, and Diet Coke that was a whopping $14.98 a case is now down to 11.49 a case (still crazy high but improving) So SOME things are dropping. Not sure how long it will take beef to come down. Herds are still not back up from covid years and just getting them butchered is going to be an issue with so many meat packing issues. Lack of workers gone since ICE has them on the run. Will take awhile to train people to take those jobs.

My business was doing better under Biden and Obama. Just facts. My company relies on consumer expendable income. Things are tighter now on folks.
No wonder when you see the cost of just keeping a roof overhead. Add in increasing cost of insurance and skyrocketing ad valorem taxes for property combined with Boomer's fixed income...it's going to be a disaster.

I am not seeing it. The tariffs raised my special chocolate from 5 bucks to 8, a 60 percent increase. Tillimook cheese is 12 dollars for two pounds. In the 1st Trump term I could buy same cheese for 5 dollars.

It's a disaster for my family right now. We are losing everything.

That's the plan I guess...stack us and pack us in high-rise apartments and bleed us dry.

People think it can't happen to them. Well guess what?

Just taking this at face value: The problem is, the One Big Beautiful Bill will restore inflation. Another few trillion in spending is only going to make the U.S. dollar even cheaper which is the source of inflation.

Inflation is a monetary issue. So stop de-valuing the dollar. The profligate spending has to come to an end and not be bolstered by the President of the United States himself.
