POL Trump posts about The Sunshine Protection Act

If Tom Cotton were putting Arkansas first, he would give them an extra hour of daylight and, more importantly, they wouldn’t have to run all over their houses, farms, work places, and everywhere else, twice a year, having to change their Clocks, and often forgetting to do so.

That is really putting Arkansas FIRST, and I know, because, unlike Tom, I won that Great State, three times, and by almost 40 points!

Additionally, it would be a very nice and easy WIN for the Republican Party, in particular, the Republican Senate, a place where we could use some WINS!

The House approved, long ago, “The Sunshine Protection Act,” by a very Bipartisan Vote, 308 to 117. It has been held up in the Senate, a place where things go to die, by Tom Cotton, for months! — And for what, other than “ego?”

The reason that it was terminated in the past was that certain Congressmen and Senators, from long ago, used it as a “negotiating chip” for far more important Legislation — And they got plenty! Everybody loved it, but it was given up in order to get bigger, better, and more consequential “things.”

Give the Republican Party a Senatorial WIN, for a change!

Thank you to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and all Members of the House of Representatives, both Republican and Democrat, who so overwhelmingly approved “The No More Ridiculous Changing of Your Clocks Act,” and who so strongly want their “SUN” in the afternoon, rather than the early morning — Loved by Farmers, Sportsman, and Sports (Copy of PGA TOUR letter below!).

Daylight Saving Time is 65-35 in the Polls but, why wouldn’t it be — Who wouldn’t want more “SUN” in the afternoon than in the morning?

It’s even been proven to be better in stopping CRIME, something of which I have done an Historic job because, CRIMINALS DON’T LIKE WORKING IN THE LIGHT.

Not wanting to change your many Clocks, including for Church Steeples and Municipal Buildings is, however, a 100% issue.

TAKE THE WIN TOM, JUST TAKE THE WIN! YOU NEED IT, AND SO DOES OUR BELOVED REPUBLICAN PARTY!

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

President DONALD J. TRUMP

Yeah, let's change time that has been in place for a very looong time.
They must have got it wrong all those years ago.
Having it stay light later has nothing to do with people spending more money in that (extra) hour of sunshine.
Of course our bodies will eventually change to except the different time. So what if it takes a few generations.

For someone as smart as Trump is supposed to be, this is a pretty dumb idea.
It has already been tried and Congress switched back in a year.
See this post from March, 2022 to see what happened in 1973.

The US tried permanent Daylight Saving time before. Here's what happened.

That hour of darkness in the morning proved to be very unpopular. School children walking to school in the dark morning hours was one big issue. The hour in the evening was not significant enough to convince everyone that it was a good idea.

In short, I approve of getting rid of switching back and forth. But I think we should just observe standard time all year.

Yeah. If I was in charge, it would be standard time that stayed year round, but I realize that most normal people don't get up as early as I do, and most people don't often tell the time in summer by the sun. Heck - up here, it's daylight at 4:30am and "can see" 'til after 10:00pm in the summer, and that is not necessary.

I'm not particular on the subject. Just pick one or the other and stick with it. I'm tired of having to adjust the critters outside, the dog and my own internal clock. It's a dumb, nonsense annoyance, and apparently a safety/health hazard as well.

I'm convinced the answer make a 24-hour day and set the time of the entire country to Greenwich, England (Universal Time), and let schools, businesses, and PEOPLE set their schedules as they wish.

Why are we waiting for the inept government to fix this?

the government can't actually regulate sunshine
but they will do everything they can to make you think they have

Sure … especially when they spend their careers with their heads buried where it doesn’t … just an example of course.

I'd be happy if this could just be settled one way or the other. Where i live, the daylength changes from ~7- hours in winter to ~20+ in summer. and i can adapt to that b/c it happens gradually. It's being jerked an hour overnight , fall and spring, that causes me problems.
Here's hoping that all who are bothered can be soothed of their bother, and we can all settle down in peace about this.

For me DST has always been a PITA but way back was even worse. I brought some Rolls Royce & Bently cars into Canada and dealing with those time zone variances were really bad.

DST as we know it here (changing by an hour X2 per year) is just an irritant for me these days. The only time I look at the time I use my cell and like everything else I use today, that time auto adjusts so, no biggie for me.

Natural time or DST are both OK w/me.

Just Pick One & Move On!

My state is mostly eastern, but could be on central just as easily. The pro central time folks always whine about the poor kids in the dark waiting for the school bus. Well, if being out in the dark is such a health hazard to our youth, then all K-12 activities should take place during daylight hours only. Teens who having been driving all that long should be have to drive home in the dark after practice or a school club meeting. In fact, I guess we can’t let teens drive during dark hours at all. Those younger teens and pre-teen aged kids should also never be allowed to go outside after dark. All neighborhood bike riding will be banned during sundown hours.

I also find it silly the pro central time folks want to use the “For the children!” battle cry. When are we moving Friday night lights to Saturday high noon kickoffs? They just need to admit they are early risers and like it lighter earlier in the day. It is a personal preference, not one of child safety. Just like the golfers who want us to be on eastern time so they can golf until almost 10PM during part of the summer.

That was one of the issues in 1973. Not much of an issue now.
Instead think about every morning rush hour completely in the dark. Yes, all vehicles have headlights and tailights. Schools buses have flashing lights to alert drivers to slowing or stopped schoolbuses.
But night vision for drivers is compromised by looking at all the lights on all those vehicles. Peripheral vision is significantly reduced. Awareness of situations outside of the reach of artificial lights drops to almost zero. Vehicle crashes during rush hour will almost certainly increase. IMHO

Great, we're supposed to put up with 9am sunrises in the winter so people can play more golf. :fgr:
Solution: light up the golf course like they do football stadiums, just more lights, and then shut down the power plants, but keep the watering going during a drought.

So when the wife asks where you're going at 1 AM you can say golfing and it sounds legit.

Does everything about that sound dumb?

Now you know what I think of the Sunshine Act.

It's that or drive home from work in the dark.
Then add doing outside farm chores when you get home. Too many decades of stumbling around in the cold dark.
But up north, it's sort of a wash. Either it's cold mornings in the cold dark, or evenings in the dark - or if like me you worked 10 hour days with a half-hour drive, it's BOTH morning and evening stumbling around in the dark for a good part of the year.
