Yes, they're massive industrial warehouses that people are losing their family farms over. Again, no thank you.For all the anti data center people here, have you ever been to one? I’ve had equipment in a bunch of data centers over the years and they all just look like large industrial buildings. There is no noise outside except when they are running the generators and no emissions or smell. Most recirculate water and don’t use that much compared to other industries.. They just need to be built in areas that have adequate electricity supply. I’d much rather have a data center in my back yard then a paper mill or a steel plant.
I, too, come from an area that once was booming with steel and manufacturing, all slowly shut down and shipped to China. It's been economically depressed for several decades now.Too many of these people in former manufacturing zones have been without a decent job so long and on the government dole, alcohol and drugs that their brains have atrophied to a point where they don't want a life, education, job or even family. Sitting around watching Captain Kangaroo chugging a beer while on fentanyl and waiting for their government check to come in is the day's plan of the activity. Corruption is absolute especially among law enforcement, judicial and city/county administration. They do what the local Democrat party or other political organization tells them to complain about to ensure they qualify for other government benefits like free refrigerators, rent, etc.
This is not opinion, what I heard at the gym or something I read online. I saw this in person as my hometown went from a middle class society to third world where many of the population sits around not wanting a job, even if offered one. For a population of 70K, they have 14 formal drug rehab centers with over 40 buildings housing out-of-state 1,000+ druggies. You can't drive down a street without seeing them in groups. This county is just like many areas in our country where manufacturing moved to China and Mexico long ago. Over the years, their despair has grown to where no hope resides and they resent anyone trying to hep them now.
Now, the citizens of the same county that got swindled over the aluminum plant, was told over the summer that a large data center is coming to town, and was only told after the deal had been finalized, without the input of the people. The people overwhelmingly are against it, but are basically being told tough shit, you're getting it whether you like it or not. And I can guarantee you that this data center will NOT make the county better.
Those family farms were sold by the owner. No County has just taken them.Yes, they're massive industrial warehouses that people are losing their family farms over. Again, no thank you.

Not in all cases. We have several here in Georgia where Eminent Domain is being used to take farmland that has been in the family for generations. There was a young woman posting videos begging for help because they were taking her family's farm and were going to demolish her grandmother's old farmhouse to put a data center on the property. She had the help of one of the candidates who running for office in Georgia as well. Those family farms were sold by the owner. No County has just taken them.
Google came in here, offered 4x the value to buy the land, then threatened those who did not want to sell for any of Google's money with court and eminent domain because they were partnered with a power company (public utility). A relatively new work-around called "indirect public domain". The little guy remains the little guy in the face of a behemoth. Those family farms were sold by the owner. No County has just taken them.

You make no sense.
There is a difference between facts and opinions.
People may be wrong about facts, like perhaps 75% believing we had free and fair elections, if in fact they weren't free and fair elections.
When roughly 75% of people may be against building data centers, those are their opinions, and their opinions are not wrong.
Just the utility companies to supply the services to the centers who were given approval by locals under sweetheart deals with NDAs.Those family farms were sold by the owner. No County has just taken them.
Stop them now and China wins. It won't be pretty, but I'll be dead by then. Enjoy the boot on your neck. Either way.
Finally, someone "gets it". The super surveillance state has a new toy.Have any of you actually figured out what the data centers are for? They are NOT to make you rich. They are NOT to reduce your taxes.
I'll give you a clue: data centers are for collecting data. What data? weather? bird migrations? solar flares?
Data centers are for collecting information, all information, about you! They will track everything you do and decide if you are allowed to keep doing those things. They will track what you eat, who your friends are, where you work, what is on your phone, what your TV cameras see in your home, all your emails and posts on line, how many people are in your home every minute of the day & night, what your Fitbit is reading, etc.
I was triggered when he pushed the poison vax and loved being called the father of the vax. Having worked many years in and among the research facilities, I knew the vax was not safe & effective because it bypassed ALL the normal testing and trials. It was a pre-planned poison shot. Trump still says he saved millions of lives with it. Liar.As much as love so much that Trump has done. This has got to be the thing that most gives me the sense that Trump has an evil side. He is taking part in creating the beast. The only question is does he know it or not ?

Actually he essentially said communities that were against data centers would stay poor and backwards because data centers were the future of jobs and investment in the US and they could either embrace it or be left behind

LOLPoor is right - watched a video of a woman opening her electric bill $972 she just started crying.
If were not poor now - we will be.
Trump is nothing like the Trump who said he was going to make America great again - nothing.
I'm going to throw my Make America Great Again hat away.
I wouldn't throw it away. We all might find ourselves sitting on a sidewalk begging for change.Poor is right - watched a video of a woman opening her electric bill $972 she just started crying.

The Iran war. And, Operation Warp Speed.
I'll think for myself, Don.
Remind them that when it was really hot in June, 95% of the power was derived from nuclear, gas and coal. 3% came from windmills and solar. They would have to double all they have done, to achieve 6%. It's a total waste of money, and land. No sane person should be pushing these ugly intrusive fields.... It's a racket.our local council is dragging its feet at the public response to a 500 acre solar farm.
nobody wants it except the coumcil
its being built on prime ag land.
not a lot of the land is under plow, but it certainly CAN be.
And he's wrong about that.Actually he essentially said communities that were against data centers would stay poor and backwards because data centers were the future of jobs and investment in the US and they could either embrace it or be left behind
Me either.I have some people sending me E-Mails telling me my Apple iCloud account will be closed if I do not send Money to some calforina address. Problem I do not have an iCloud account nor do I want one as I have no need or use for it.
My computer has a huge hard drive and I have yet to put a dent in the amount of data it can hold.
