Trump aide Conway draws ire for kneeling on White House sofa

OK, this is not proper behavior no matter who or what party does it.
Obama kicked back with his feet on the desk posing for a picture.
Clinton with his cigar stuck inside Monica.

Proper decorum and respect should be expected inside the Oval Office.
What she is doing is not very serious compared to the disrespect listed above, but it is still not showing proper respect for the office of the President.
Kelly, you're not at home on your sofa. This is not an informal White House staff meeting. There is an official meeting/visit/ photo op going on.
Sit like a lady.

Washington (AFP) - US President Donald Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway has come under fire after a picture of her casually kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office was widely shared on social media.
In an image captured by an AFP photographer, Conway appears on the couch with her shoes on as Trump poses for a photo with leaders of historically black colleges and universities.
Wall Street Journal columnist Bret Stephens was among those taking aim at Conway, suggesting that aides under previous administrations would have elicited even greater outcry.
"If Rice or Jarrett had sat like this in Oval Office, conservatives would have screamed themselves hoarse for weeks. Now we own trashy," he wrote, referring to previous presidential aides.
Trump's predecessor Barack Obama repeatedly took flak for photos in which he appeared to be relaxing.
Critics also chastised Obama for unbuttoning the previous Oval Office dress code that called for a suit jacket and a tie.
The image of Conway trended widely on social media, with several Twitter users berating her for what they described as a lack of respect in the Oval Office.

I doubt either of the previous aides "could" sit like that.......lol. And I don't see anyone there in the Oval looking nasty at her for doing it either. It shows me that she is comfortable is all. And that the President doesn't mind. After all the foo for all tho, I bet she doesn't do it again. Sigh. These libs nitpick at everything.

I believe this is a non-event, especially compared to BJ Clinton's actions in that office.

This would be an attack on her if she had just crossed her legs - not at the ankles. This shows that the left can make "hay" out of ANYTHING and make it sound like it's the ONLY thing worth publishing as news.

I don't believe this is any where near as serious as other things that have happened in that room, but it is still not proper behavior.

Why give people the rope to hang you, or bullets for their guns to shoot you?
If she came into your house and sat on your couch like that during some kind of official formal ceremony, I think most of you would not think it proper.

As far as proper behavior, demand as much from the administration you like and voted for, as the ones you had contempt for.
Saying "but Obama did it, or Clinton did worse" doesn't change proper behavior or good manners. It just shows that we're willing to overlook bad things as long as it's our people who did them.

100% not acceptable. Presents a poor, slovenly image and reflects badly on Trump, herself, the invited guests and the WH setting. Such behavior leads one to suggest she's not up to the standards of her position serving the President.

has nothing to do with Oval Office decorum - questionable why any LADY in that high position is sitting like that - is she actually wearing high heels?

She's at work. In her bosses office. Just not something most professional women would do and expect to be respected.

Good gravy. If that were one of my kids, I would tell them to get their feet off of the sofa....and get em off NOW! That is not her house!

I'm a big Trump supporter. I love Kellyanne. I didn't like this, though. Do that outside, have some respect and decorum in the Oval Office. And BTW, I am in her age group, with a professional job. I would never sit like that in front of "company" in my boss's office.

Not defending her sitting like that in the oval office but it looks to me like she might of tried to back into the couch enough to get out of the way of the picture and the camara person decided to make her an obvious shot in the picture. Look how off center the President is. The whole shot looks off to me. What a crappy camara person if that's the case.

Does she have her shoes on? What was she thinking! How disrespectful to the Oval Office, the President, and the people. At least it looks that way. Not good.

It looks like she's trying to get a picture herself and needed a lower angle to get everyone in the shot. Sometimes function has to beat form.

Somehow, I think Melania or Ivanka would have handled the situation a little differently, and still gotten the picture.

That's the difference.

I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT Kellyanne's shoes on the couch in the oval office. And I wouldn't have taken my shoes off either as I recall what has been on that couch!

Trump aide Conway draws ire for kneeling on White House sofa.

That's the source of the 'ire' right there.

All she has to do is breath air as Trump's aid and there's more 'ire' than we know what to do with.

I remember when Obama put is feet up on the desk. That did not go over too well either.

Treat the Oval Office and it's contents with respect. That shouldn't be too hard to do.

I have to agree, not classy respectful at all.

There is a way you conduct yourself in public and a way you conduct yourself in private. To me, Conway got the two confused. But you never, ever put your shoes on any type of furniture especially upholstered furniture.

Another view....

Explains it all to me. ^^^

She had her feet and legs tucked up on the couch to get them out of sight for the professional photographer photographing the event... straight down the center as would be appropriate. (probably took place in a time period of a few seconds)

Her use of the phone camera is for other purposes... possibly personal, possibly for social media, possibly for the POTUS.

Why in hell would such an event be recorded photographically by a damned cell phone camera... off to the side of the actual event.

The POTUS would naturally be in the center of the photo with attendees right and left.

She is his senior adviser and would be near such a gathering but not necessarily as a participant.

I call BS on this whole thing.

ETA: as per the first poster on the swearing thread... my swearing "augments" my point.

ETA.2: Notice she is not perched on the couch in the "down the center" photo.

ETA.3: She is welcome to sit on my couch like that any time she desires (barefooted).

Was listening to a talk show on the car radio this morning about this..they said that this was inappropriate in their opinion but that the way she had been sitting before putting her feet up was much more so... whatever that was about ?

Doesn't bother me at all.

For what she did helping Trump get in that office she could be in PJ's and I wouldn't care.

IMO even if you don't like it - it bothers me that - you would take sides with the left.

That is the only think I admire about the left - that they don't attack each other.

They are more concerned with winning.

Attacking her - is helping the left.
