POL Trump Admin Appointments - Tracking Thread

Kathy Hochul has to call a special election to replace Stefanik in the House. Her district is solidly red so we shouldn‘t lose a seat due to this appointment.
This is a really important point which seems to be obscured in the rush of naming the best names for particular positions. Because of the political circumstances of a given nominee, the absolute best candidate might not be the best choice in certain cases.

For one thing, I would really rather not see nominees pulled from Congress, especially from the House. If a congressman were pulled from a district which was evenly split and the governor of that state were not a solid conservative, the replacement could cause a real mess for a legislative agenda.

Also, there's the issue of majority leadership and committee assignments. For instance, consider the upcoming race for Senate majority leader. Two of the 3 leaders are Bitch McConnell-backed squishies John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune from South Dakota. Hard pass on both! There's an outstanding candidate - Rick Scott of Florida - who comes from a solid red state with a reliable governor in DeSantis. Scott is a strong Trump supporter and I can see him being critical to both judicial appointments and legislative agenda.

In general, I don't approve of congresscritters being given Cabinet positions, although there will be some exceptions as long as the above things apply. They've really not shown that they can manage a huge agency, much less reorganize and cut something down like the IRS, Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Education, much less rebuild the Pentagon's procurement processes. Politicians just don't have the backbone or guts to do the hard things. (Did I mention that DHS should be done away with, and reverted back to the pre-Patriot Act status? Take that, Cheney and Shrub!)

Even a solid Senate has shown us that squishy Republikrats can torpedo important issues. Think of that asshole McCain grandstanding down the aisle with his revenge on Trump for Obamacare, how McCain's people to this day are still blowing up Arizona elections.

Guiding principle: NO NEOCONS OR BABY KILLERS IN EXECUTIVE BRANCH!

Zelden is a SUPER choice.
I seem to remember that he was a possible VP candidate but I think the Donald picked the right guy (for VP). I've heard good things about Zeldin, though. He talks like a hard-nosed old cop who'll administer the law evenly like it should be.

I messed up, though; I confused Zeldin with Homan. My bad.

President Trump Nominates Elise Stefanik to be U.S Ambassador to the United Nations

November 11, 2024 | Sundance | 93 Comments

A predictable, pragmatic and very reasonable outcome of the U.N. dynamic. President Trump has nominated Elise Stefanik to be the U.S Ambassador to the United Nations.

The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. has a representative role within many topics and matters of geopolitical concern. However, if we are to be entirely non-pretending, the primary role of the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. is to protect the nation state of Israel from global geopolitical attacks. Stefanik is an excellent choice.

This nomination will permit President Trump to deflect internal criticism for the pending solution toward the Israel-Hamas war.

Do you remember what we discussed in July:

The Trump Doctrine (as predicted)After talking to Mohamed bin Salman (MbS) in Saudi Arabia, President Trump will call Egyptian President Fattah al-Sisi, while simultaneously telling all regional players that fighting immediately stops and Sisi is now leading the reconciliation effort.

PA/Hamas leadership will balk. President Trump will then tell Qatar to kick out the Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood leaders (“Drive them out” 2.0) or they will face economic sanctions, not from congress, from Trump.

Turkish President Recep Erdogan will be told to stick a sock in it, and he’d better not give a home base to Hamas again [FAFO].

President Trump will then tell Hamas leadership they need to live in Gaza; like actually live in the region they presumably lead – no more hiding in Qatar. President Trump will follow up with a conversation with President al-Sisi to make part of the peace deal a regional rule that all Gaza political leadership must live in Gaza.

Jordan, Syria and Kuwait will think President Trump is nuts but keep quiet because President Trump might be willing to prove he’s nuts – and eventually everyone will call President Sisi to find out the date for the peace summit.

After lunch, President Trump calls President Putin because that conflict is easier to solve.

That’s the Trump doctrine!

I've heard something similar, too.
What I heard was that RFK wanted some data and they weren't going to give it to him.
He may not be able to access it yet, particularly if that data could be linked to one of RFKjr's lawsuits against the goveemint. With the lawfare thing still in play, I can imagine President Trump's legal team being real cagey about having that data and then releasing it to another - at this point - private citizen.

Maybe they retire Biden and install Kamala in the near future so she can claim she was the first colored woman in history to become president.

No, I’ll tell you how it would work out. I’m just thinking out loud here. FJB quits with one week left. Kamalatoe is sworn in. The instant she hits the Offal Orifice she executes a blanket pardon for FJB, Hunter, and every last communist bastard infesting high level government.

Every. Last. One.

Trump Taps Rep. Mike Waltz For NatSec, Lee Zeldin As Head Of EPA

by Tyler Durden
Monday, Nov 11, 2024 - 06:15 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has picked Florida Rep. Mike Waltz to be his White House national security adviser, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the discussion.

Waltz, a Green Beret veteran who served in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa, won't require Senate confirmation, and will step right in the middle of Trump's vow to end the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
In September of 2023, Waltz said in a Fox News op-ed, "The era of Ukraine’s blank check from Congress is over," suggesting that future aid packages should have accountability and ensure strategic use of resources.
Waltz also pushed for US allies to pay their fair share.
We need this administration to bring our allies to meet their pledge to spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense now, today. Unfortunately, Biden’s diplomacy seems to be lagging. The largest European states consistently fail to meet that benchmark, pledged at the 2014 NATO summit in Wales shortly after Russia’s last Ukraine invasion.
Germany, the largest economy in Europe and the most pivotal balancer to Russia, pulled back at the last minute from enshrining the two percent annual commitment into law. That needs to change – the administration cannot expect American taxpayers to pay for European security indefinitely.
He also recommended that the US match "the dollar value of any aid it gives to Ukraine with securing the southern border."

Earlier this month, Waltz suggested that the Biden administration's anti-carbon stance is "fueling the Russian war machine."

"And the reality is, they are constraining our oil and gas and forcing the world to buy from the likes of Venezuela, from Iran, and from Russia."

That said...

Meanwhile, former Rep. Lee Zeldin has been picked to head up the EPA. As Zachary Stieber of the Epoch Times notes; Zeldin (R-N.Y.) will join the second administration of President-elect Donald Trump as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Trump announced on Nov. 11.

“Lee, with a very strong legal background, has been a true fighter for America First policies,” Trump told The Epoch Times in an emailed statement. “He will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet. He will set new standards on environmental review and maintenance that will allow the United States to grow in a healthy and well-structured way.”

“It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA Administrator,” Zeldin wrote on the social media platform X.
“We will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI. We will do so while protecting access to clean air and water.”

Multiple individuals served as the EPA’s administrator during Trump’s first term, including Scott Pruitt and Andrew Wheeler. The current administrator is Michael Regan, who was appointed by President Joe Biden and has been in office since March 21, 2021.

Zeldin’s appointment will need to be approved by the U.S. Senate, which will be controlled by Republicans starting in January 2025, before he becomes administrator.

Zeldin, 44, represented New York’s 1st Congressional District, which includes most of Long Island, in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. Zeldin opted against running for another term and instead ran for governor of New York. He won the GOP primary but lost to Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, by about 378,000 votes out of 5.9 million cast, including a majority of the vote outside New York City.

Rep. Nick LaLota (R-N.Y.), who now represents the district, said on X: “Lee Zeldin’s vision for the EPA focuses on economic growth while protecting our environment. His plan to restore energy dominance, create jobs, and protect clean air & water makes him an ideal choice to lead the EPA.”

More recently, Zeldin has chaired the China Policy Initiative and Pathway to 2025 at the America First Policy Institute.
Prior to his time in Congress, Zeldin was in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq. He then served in the state Senate before becoming a congressman.

Zeldin’s votes on climate proposals include, in addition to all other House Republicans, voting against the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, which included funding for improving the supply of water in western states.

Zeldin has a 14 percent score from the League of Conservation Voters, an advocacy group, due to his voting record. The group in the past criticized Trump’s first administration over its positions on the environment and climate, and poured $115 million into the effort to elect Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump Taps South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as New Homeland Security Secretary: Report

President Donald Trump has reportedly chosen South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), according to sources familiar with the decision reported by CNN.

While Trump has not officially announced his choice, the reported move is widely viewed as part of his commitment to strict immigration enforcement.
Noem’s appointment comes as Trump names immigration hardliners Stephen Miller and former ICE director Tom Homan to senior advisory roles.

Stephen Miller has reportedly been selected to serve as White House Deputy Chief of Staff, with an advisory role on immigration plans. At the same time, Tom Homan has already been announced as the new “Border Czar.”

Both are known for their uncompromising views on immigration enforcement, reinforcing the administration’s pledge to address border security with unprecedented vigor.
CNN reported:
With his selection of Noem, Trump is ensuring a loyalist will head an agency he prioritizes and that is key to his domestic agenda.
The department saw an immense amount of turmoil the last time Trump was in office. Then, DHS had five different leaders, only two of whom were Senate-confirmed. The agency has a $60 billion budget and hundreds of thousands of employees.
Noem, who previously was a South Dakota representative, will now be tasked with overseeing a sprawling agency that oversees everything from US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the US Secret Service.
Noem had once been on Trump’s shortlist for vice president, though her relationship with Trump shifted after the negative rollout surrounding the publication of her book: “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” In it, she revealed that she once killed her 14-month-old wirehair pointer, Cricket, when she was not displaying the signs of an ideal hunting dog.
The governor wrote that the dog was “untrainable,” according to excerpts first reported by The Guardian. Noem later argued that those anecdotes were meant to show how capable she is of doing some of the more gruesome jobs in life when necessary.
If officially confirmed, Noem will replace Alejandro Mayorkas, under whose tenure U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported nearly 3 million inadmissible encounters, totaling approximately 10.8 million since Fiscal Year 2021.

According to the report from the Deputy Director of ICE Patrick Lechleitner sent to Congressman Tony Gonzalez, over 662,000 illegal immigrants with criminal histories are currently on ICE’s national docket.

Even more alarming is that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is currently tracking over 425,000 illegal immigrants convicted of various crimes, while 226,000 face pending criminal charges, all of whom have been released into the United States under the regime’s lenient immigration enforcement.

Of that staggering number, over 13,000 illegal immigrants have been convicted of homicide, and more than 15,000 have been convicted of sexual assault.
These individuals are not in custody—they are roaming free in communities across the country, thanks to the administration’s so-called “catch and release” policy.

Just as a notation here:

With the exception of MAYBE Rubio as SOS, none of these appointments are Cabinet positions. I'm sure those will be out soon. Or maybe not. Don't Cabinet positions have to approved by the Senate? If so he can wait a bit.

Some of his appointments like the ones he is making now, need to be able to hit the ground running Jan 20th.

Especially if he plans on signing a bunch of EO's on his first day, so his Chief of Staff, needs to be up and running getting all that lined up. And some of the areas those EO's will effect like the border and Illegal aliens.

UN Ambassador & EPA Administrator are cabinet positions that require Senate confirmation.

National Security Advisor is not a cabinet position & does not need confirmation.

Seems like your right on the UN position come to think of it, as for Senate confirmation. But as for Cabinet it's sort of a on and off again relationship with the President and SOS:

Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., a leading moderate Republican who lost his seat in the United States Senate to John F. Kennedy in the 1952 elections, was appointed ambassador to the United Nations in 1953 by Dwight D. Eisenhower in gratitude for the defeated senator's role in the new president's defeat of conservative leader Robert A. Taft for the 1952 Republican nomination and subsequent service as his campaign manager in the general election; Eisenhower raised the ambassadorship to Cabinet rank in order to give Lodge direct access to him without having to go through the State Department.[1]

The ambassadorship continued to hold this status throughout the remainder of the Cold War but was removed from Cabinet rank by George H. W. Bush, who had previously held the position himself. It was restored under the Clinton administration. It was not a Cabinet-level position under the George W. Bush administration (from 2001 to 2009),[2][3] but was once again elevated under the Obama administration, and initially retained as such by the Trump administration during the tenure of Nikki Haley.[4] However, in December 2018, it was reported by several news organizations that the Trump administration would once again downgrade the position to non-Cabinet rank.[5] The position was again elevated to Cabinet rank in the Biden administration.[6]

And we are both right for EPA:

The EPA is not a Cabinet department, but the administrator is normally given cabinet rank.
