I use an older (like maybe 30 years old) 2-paddle West Bend bread machine. We use sorghum instead of honey in almost all the recipes...recipes come out of "Bread Machine Magic" by Linda Rehberg and Lois Conway. When fresh bread has cooled half the loaf goes in a big baggie in the freezer, until needed (we keep finding previous half-loaves toward the bottom of the freezer). Two years ago I replaced the West Bend bread pan off ebay.
DW makes all kinds of jams, jellies and preserves - Golden Habanero is my favorite (has chunks of apricot and small pieces of the habanero contained therein). Oddly enough, tomato-basil jam is delish and tomato-apple is, too. Brings to mind we need to start tomato seeds next week...

I still have a bread machine stashed at the BOL but at home use a kitchenaid for kneading and a heating pad with an upside down box over it for rising. Many times I use the bread machine recipes and except for a few tweaks they work great. Have a loaf of yeast cornmeal bread on first rise as I type this. The cornmeal is home milled maize (Indian corn).

Your bread sounds amazing. Have you thought about maybe adding a bit of cinnamon next time? Cinnamon tastes good and also helps with glucose control. And you don't need much, maybe 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. Just a suggestion!

Wonderful! I believe the little things all add up. Oatmeal or oat flour is another healthy choice that works well for some breads. We have been eating oatmeal in some form almost every day for years now and hubby's cholesterol has been going down for the last three years. As in all things, you do what you can:)

1/3 C of oatmeal is part of the recipe. as is 1/3 C of coarse bran. Which reminds me, I have to add a note on that recipe to sub-out white flour.

A good way to "rise" bread doing it by hand, it to turn on the dryer for 20 mins then put the bread pan in to rise..... my daughter makes great buns and bread this way, but uses a bread machine to mix the dough

Just make sure you put a sign on the door so no one (including yourself, if you're one of the old-er folks!) forgets the bread is in the dryer and tosses in a load of wet laundry.:)
