Recipe Tomato Beef Lentil Soup Mix - Meals in Bags

Meals in Bags

Lentils 1/4 cup
Rice 1/4 cup
Split Peas 1/4 cup
Pearl Barley 1/4 cup
Dehydrated Onion 2 tbs
Italian Seasoning 1 tsp
Bay Leaf
Beef Boullion 2 tbs

Vac seal the above in pint jars

In a bag store one of the pints with a can of tomato paste, a can of diced tomatoes, 1 pint beef chunks, and 1/2 c small pasta.

To use, simmer the sealed mix ingredients and tomatoes in 6 cups of water 30 mins then add the beef and pasta. Simmer 20 mins

I have 6 of these made up now though i sealed the mix in vacuum bags not jars.

That sounds good and easy too. I’ve been looking through an old Mormon recipe book and there’s a similar recipe. Yours sound better though.

I wonder what it would take to convert the amount of tomato paste or a measure of dried tomato powder and then figure out the amount of added fluid necessary for the recipe.

Replace a 6 ounce can of tomato paste by mixing: 1/4 cup Tomato Powder, 1/4 cup hot water, and salt to taste (1/4 tsp at least)
