ALERT There is a bug in iOS 15.5 that causes some threads to endlessly refresh

Haven’t noticed anything on my Ipad I‘m currently using but I don’t do the twitter thing on here either.

My iPad is seizing up on the Q thread.

Strangely, my iPad does fine on the Q part 2 thread. But once a dance-party thread gets started, I always curse when I click on the thread because my iPad seizes up.
The Japanese assassination thread did 'close' to me all day yesterday on my macbook.

I'm so paranoid I immediately worry it's intentional to create an immediate connection in real time to people who are latching on to certain information and dropping it in forums, emails, and texts, etc, to create a hard connection map of something like "domestic terrorist supporters" or "dangerous disinformation". IYKWIM?
The continuous reloading is a continuous ping.:apc::kpc:

Well, it wouldn't be the first time an "upgrade" screwed up something that previously worked fine. But I upgraded a couple weeks ago. Apple insisted because of "serious security patches". And I didn't have have this issue until just a couple days ago. I don't hang out in the Q thread; was reading the Abe threads - and one particular thread at the other board.

So, I can buy that the OS version is part of the issue. I'm not totally convinced it's the whole answer, however, because I don't have the issue in other threads that are ALSO posting tweets. And all the other tweets in that other board's long thread don't have the same impact. Makes me wonder if there's some tag or something that comes WITH the problematic tweet that is causing the issue?

That is my concern.

Always looking for details I may have missed.
I checked on my devices: My iPhone is running iOS 15.5 and it locks up on the Q thread in Alt. I tried an iMac running Mac OS Monterey 12.4 and it works fine on that same thread. I checked Windows machines on Win 10 and they're fine. So it looks confined to the iPhones on 15.5. I'm not going to hold my breath for Apple to fix this, they tend to be slow.

For me it freezes up on the Q thread on a specific page, around 1090 or 1091 maybe. Once I closed out of TB2K and reentered and started reading the thread around 1092 or 1093 my iPad and iPhone both seem fine.

That must be why they are still working fine for me. I am still on IOS version 13 something.
When they wanted to do the Covid tracking bs I stopped any updates. I have had to delete a couple apps as they no longer will work with my phones current version. That’s ok, I just log in on my laptop like before I got a smart phone.

I wonder if it has to do with the LINK FOR the TWEET. Because I'm on the chans frequently I have noticed some twitter links with all these extra characters in the address line (a question mark and a bunch of crap behind that question mark like this....

And I'm wondering if the question mark and the crap behind it may be what's causing this loop?

When bringing over a tweet, all you really need to bring over is the address UP TO BUT NOT INCLUDING the question mark and everything that follows it, so I delete everything from the question mark on

I've just wondered if all that extra crap in the tweet address wasn't put there to cause havoc?

You still get the same tweet no matter which address you use, be it the one with the question mark and all the crap following it....

Or just the simple address

I think for the videos the S=20 etc is how far into the video does the playback start when the link is clicked on. If you go over to Youtube and watch a video for a minute or two and then click on the playback link at the top of your tab you will see something similar.

I ran across this today. It appears to be triggered by Twitter posts. I have no idea why, but it appears to cross browsers. So it’s not a browser or a thread problem. I have no idea as to a workaround or a fix.

Only Apple devices are affected.
Given how addicted millions are to twitter, if I wanted to launch an attack, via tywitter would be a great start line.

Only Apple devices with the latest update are affected. I don't know if you can undo the latest updates or not, so far I've refused to do the update on all of my devices. The latest update also has a little glitch, they don't call it this, where once it's installed your battery life is automatically reduced by 30%. It's at the very top of the TOS so read it before you do the update.

ETA this issue is also mainly a Safari issue, I've had no issues with twitter, etc., when using Chrome.

I was in the thread I think the others are also referring to and it just locked up because it just kept refreshing. And I am using brave not safari. So yeah I concur with your findings boss.

Have you tried using Chrome to see if it's still refreshing?

I have a Samsung using Chrome. Twitter posts are only accessed here on timebomb from whatever is posted here.
If I need to, say it spreads to samsung/chrome I will just ignore twitter completely. I do click the link sometimes but I may stop doing that. Besides, it will likely soon spread to windows platforms. They usually end up crossplatform
sooner or later.

I just downloaded Chrome for iOS, and it exhibits the same problem.

That is beyond odd, it works fine for me using Chrome for iOS. I have an iPad Mini 2, and iPad 6th gen, and an iPhone 12 Pro, in addition to my iMac (High Sierra) and have zero issues with the continuous refreshing. Mediacom for house internet and Verizon for the iPhone.
