And, (and I'm still not a fan of it, but...) they're not "looking" at your pictures to decide if they're porn or not, but they're comparing them with the digital footprint of existing child porn files and see if you have these.. And like you said, they're not even doing that yet.

On the other hand, Google seems to be doing exactly what people think Apple is planning to do:
