Member since Aug 4, 2002. Always a great place for information and good conversation. Interestingly enough, I used to read Gary North and Ed Yarden for Y2K, but never saw the forum. I can't recall how I found this place, but it might have been from another old forum that isn't around anymore. I was on several prepper, survival, and current events boards. I remember when TOL was founded, and I hung out there too and even became a Senator before it just got too combative and weird.
Overall, this forum has had the best staying power, and I think it's a combination of people being mostly polite, most of the time (sure, we can all have our moments, but overall the tone of the forum is civil) combined with great information and breaking news. The woo room is also a lot of fun, and I enjoy the home crafting sections, which are more active in the Winter when people have time for things like knitting and sewing, along with Granny's Kitchen for recipes.
