Medical Storing antibiotics

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I've run across two things that I seem to keep hitting deadends on finding further details.
One, it seems most antibiotics can be stored in the freezer just fine. But supposedly some will degrade faster that way. But I can't find a list of which degrade faster. All the links I find lead to deadends. Help, please?
Two, it seems that doxycycline can now be stored for longer than the original SLEP testing said. If stored in specific conditions. But I can't find the specific conditions. I can find the FDA and SLEP reports but apparently am blind to the information on the storage conditions. Help, please?

I'm not going crazy on antibiotics but I don't have insurance. And lately, I catch way too many infections. I have a doctor that helps but I'm putting some back for when I need them and can't afford to fill the prescription immediately.

everything I read about storing antibiotics talk frig and not freezer - keep the moisture at bay with desiccant packs ...

I can do dark and cool if I tuck them in one of my 5 gallon steel buckets and put them at the back of the pantry on the floor. I can mylar seal and do dessicant packs easily.
From what I found, SLEP is still very much active, just not publicly available. Most likely it is a computer database at this point. And that cannot be publicly shared.
Thank you for the links. I had zero luck with my search fu.

I have purchased from both recently. Both shipped quickly and are Thomas labs distributors.
No prescription was needed but valley vet costs much less if you could get a script.
ADC is cheaper as well, but looks to be sold out on doxycycline.

Fish Doxy (Doxycycline) Tablets - 100mg
(they don't list expiration dates but cost less; maybe call and ask if important to you)

Fish Doxy - Doxycycline 100 mg Tablets (30 Count)
(higher cost but list expiration dates on a different page for all of their fish/bird meds)

Just make sure you read the package insert info ONLINE (look the *human* info up). Tetracycline and doxycycline can both cause severe photosensitivity... you'll sunburn like crazy on it, even with a base tan and sunscreen. Ask me how I know! Tetracycline (don't know about doxy) can also interfere in the effectiveness of birth control pills!

Tetracycline should also never be given to a pregnant woman or a child under 8 years... can damage bones and teeth. I've read that doxy may be safe for children, but I personally would avoid it unless there was no other choice.

I have the full prescribing info for each med printed out in a notebook. I don't want to have to look something up and the net goes down!

The Kraft Drug order arrived today with no issues. Thanks for the link Illini.

For practical storage purposes, does it matter if I open a pill bottle to verify contents then carefully reseal and store it?
I don't know if they purge with an inert gas before the original seal.

Message on the Kraft drug website regarding price and availability of vet antibiotics. My one order was handled fine.

---------------------------------------------
Welcome to Kraft Drug

Antibiotics are going to be in short supply.

We are not able to offer 20% off on [ 5 or more items ]

There’ll be an increse in prices too [ our price have gone WAY up ]

Sorry…

Everybody that purchased from us, before we removed the [ buy any 5 items and get 20% off ] will be refunded 20%.

We’re working 24/7. I’m doing the best I can, I will refund your 20%, it might take 1-2 days.

Antibiotics are in short supply, I’m lucky to buy any, [ every pharmacy in the US is in the same boat].

The price is going up and up.

Most of our prices have gone up 20% [ it’s not us, it’s the wholesalers we buy from and the manufacturers]

I’m limiting the amount of items you can buy [ one of each item ]

If you buy over and over each day, I will just cancel the extra orders ]

ONE ORDER PER DAY…PLEASE…

PS….If an item say’s [ out of stock ] we probably have them ? I will change that later today.

The ones I have recommend storing between 59-86F (15-30C).
I keep them in the original bottles, in the dark, and at a relatively constant room temperature.

now isn't the time to buying drugs if it's not absolutely necessary - same same with all kinds of stuff like ammo >>> time to go in a totally different direction - like making up grades to the garden or stockpiling the cheap fuels available ...

I received an email today that Thomas Labs is temporarily shut down. They are a big supplier of fish meds in the US.

I'm working on the garden upgrades when the weather cooperates. I can't get fuel until next Monday. I'm in quarantine until then. But that's next on the list.
