Planting Starting to Plant in Alaska

North to the Future
Today I put the garlic in (I know...not a spring plant crop but I'll do again in fall), 2 buckets of taters, some cabbages, some kohlrabi, pumpkins and squash. Some turnips, some rutabaas; the first of the cabbage starts and the first of my rounds of flowers. Holding off as long as I can but the leaves are turning green and the robins are jumping down to check on every move I make. I love springtime.

I've read where the Tundra gets more direct sunlight than any other area of earth. They grow cabbages the size of basketballs.

Is it hard to work the garden in Summer with the black flies and mosquitos?

PS. I know you're not in the Tundra, but close enough!
