Prep Genrl ST about storing nuts

I believe vacuum sealing *should* work, with one potential problem I can see... nuts often have tiny worms (or worm eggs?) inside... (after finding brand name chocolate bars with almonds infested, I've only stored plain milk chocolate) I think the oven canning process kill a off any potential infestations.
Maybe freezing them first woukd do the same thing?

we use and store a lot of nuts . . . almonds - salted and smoked; unsalted sliced and whole; cashews whole - salted & roasted; whole raw; pistachios - salted shelled and unshelled; peanuts raw and roasted salted and shelled walnuts. typically we buy these in bulk and package them down - vacuum sealing in 1/2 gal or quart mason jars with one 100 CC O2 absorber in the quarts and 2 of them in 1/2 gal. I have never had problem with ANY of these. you may want to take a look at both of these - CHAT - memories in a bottle - tale of the 12 Y O pistachio and PREP - Nuts in long term storage

Yeah, they're harmless. But when you open a bar of milk chocolate and almonds, and there are tiny critters wriggling across the surface... it kind of wrecks your appetite, ya know? I once opened a pack of saltine crackers (fresh from the store!) That had a nice hatch of something... probably beetle larvae. Yuck!Well crap! hahaha!!! - I can remember being a kid with my sister Denise, on a car trip with our parents - mid 50's cuz I'm about 6 and she's about 4 . . . my father stopped to get gas at the country station and he comes out wit an almond joy candy bar. we were sooooo excited because it was a treat to get that kind of candy - we just weren't allowed to have it very often - RARE - would be the operative word. the package was opened and she and I were each given one of the two candy bars in it. we pulled away from the station and commenced to enjoying our candy bars - as kids would, taking small nibbles and savoring the rare treat we'd been given. about 2/3'rds of the way through hers, Denise noticed "something moving" and called my mother for assistance with it - at which point what little was left of the candy bars were promptly tossed out the window - much to the disappointment of both of us.
I lost Denise in Feb of '16 to Ovarian cancer . . . that was one of the many wonderful memories we shared together before she left.
