Celestial Space Weather/Sun Spot

Thanks for another update. Boy, fortune telling is right! I realize that climate is a whole different science than meteorology, but still, how can they predict things several years to decades out when they can't even predict with any certainty what's going to happen three or four days from now?

I know, long range repeating patterns seasoned with the variation we always get with weather, which seems to be shaping itself into some new patterns in many areas now.

Ok; To bring everyone up to date on whats happening! We have just gone 8 day without Sunspots and some numbers on how many spotless days and how many days with!

We are 119 days into the calendar year 2019.
We have had 49 days with Sunspots
We have had 70 days without Sunspots
And being 119 days into the the year 2019 are are at 59% of the year without Sunspots.

New Sunspot and really it's an old Sunspot that has come back around for a second pass. We have just gone a 13 day stretch without sunspots and bring the Spotless day count total to 74 days and bring the precentage of the year without Sunspots to 60%.

Ok; loging data for the record and today we have a second Sunspot that formed joining the older Sunspot thats on it's second pass around. These Sunspots are on the large size from what we have been seeing for the last few years.

2740 Update / C9.9 Flare
Region 2740 continues to move into a better Earth facing position and is currently crackling with C-Class solar flares. One of these flares nearly broke the M-Class threshold measuring C9.9 at 05:10 UTC. The flare itself was a very rapid and not likely the source of a noteworthy coronal mass ejection (CME). The sunspot region now has a delta magnetic configuration and should likely produce additional C-Flares and perhaps an isolated M-Flare during the next 24 hours. Image below courtesy of SDO/HMI.
It should also be noted that another sunspot is now turning into view off the east limb, but does not appear to be as active as 2740 at this time.

From spaceweather.com

POSSIBLE EARTH-DIRECTED CME: Over the past three days, sunspot AR2740 has puffed numerous minor coronal mass ejections (CMEs) into space. Until this morning, none were Earth directed. However, a faint "halo CME" that left the sun during the early hours of May 7th might have an Earth-directed component. NOAA analysts are modeling the storm cloud now. Stay tuned. Update: The two Sunspots have passed and we're now back to blank Sun again and so it's day one with a new cycle of no Sunspots.
So far we're at 75 Spotless days for the year 2019 and 54% of the year with no Sunspots.

Is there a CME or something incoming? The insanity is off the charts. I talked to people not on the board today and people are just plain nuts.

Both of the resent Sunspots were putting out low level emissions but nothing to get all worried about, right now I think a good sized hole has shown up in the surface of the Sun (not a Sunspot) facing us and it's increasing the solar winds.

I think Saturday was the full moon. Maybe the "slow" folks take a couple of days to catch up with the rest of us! ;)

We have eight more day left to the month before we're six months into the calendar year.
So far we are 139 days into the year 2019 and we have the following!

May 23 brings us to 139 days.
We have had 78 days without Sunspots.
We had only 61 days with Sunspots.
Right now we are in a new stretch of Spotless Sun

Publius

TB Fanatic
We just went a full two weeks without Sunspots and still going Spotless.

So it looks like this!
June 2. brings us to 149 days into the year 2019
We had 88 days without Sunspots.
We have had 61 days with Sunspots.
The percentage of the year without Sunspots is 58%.

We have gone a three week (21 days) stretch with no Sunspots and still going spotless.

Right now the spotless day count is at 95 days.
The number of days with Sunspots is 61 days.
We are now at June 9, 156 days into the calendar year 2019.
At this time the percentage of the of the year without Sunspots now at 59%.

TB Fanatic
The previous two week and then three week spotless stretch is still going and now has gone four weeks (28 days) with no Sunspots.

So the count is looking like this!
It's June 16 2019 and we're 163 days into the year.
102 days Spotless as in no Sunspots.
61 days with Sunspots.
The percentage of the year without Sunspots is now at 61%

We Have Gone a Whole Months Time

We're in trouble if this keeps up as 31 days is a long streach without Sunspots and it's still going.

So it's June 19. we are now 165 days into the year 2019.
104 days blank without, none, no Sunspots whatsoever for the last 31 days.
61 days with Sunspots.
The percentage of the year without Sunsopts is now at 62%.

The Sun is what controls the climate and weather patterns on our planet and right now Sun is in a deep minima and it's called Solar Minima and from time to time we have a Grand Solar Minima that go's on for a very long time.
The Sun cools down and it's magnetic's go's wonkers and it effects our planet in many ways, expect to see more extreme weather changes, earth quakes and volcanic eruptions and the volcanic eruptions is the icing on the cake that speeds up the cooling.

All this nonsense about global warming/climate change is made up and all because someone came up with an idea to bilk the people of our planet of billion$ of dollar$ to line the pockets of a few and also to control where you can live, how you live, how much you have to spend and how far or where you can travel. Hows $5 to $8 for gas or heating fuel sound to you? And it won't stop there as it all effect everything thats manufactured.

We Have Gone Five Consecutive Weeks.

Thats right five weeks (35 days) without Sunspots and it's still on going as in blank Sun.

The total count as of now!
Its June 23, We are now 168 days into the year 2019
We have have 108 Spotless day for the year 2019.
We have only had 61 days with Sunspots.
The precentage of the of the year without Sunspots is now at 62%

We had a small micro sized spot showing up yeasterday and it faided away within hours but two more poped up on the far western side of the Sun facing us and will rotate out of view in a day or two.
So today the string of spotless days has stopped.

The spotless count is now 109 days
Days with Sunspots 62.
Precentage of the year without Sunspots is 62%

We are back to blank Sun once again, but there is this one little blemish they say is a Sunspot trying to form and have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

110 days spotless and the percentage of the year that has gone Spotless is now rolled back to 61%

I'd like to see a listing of present sunspot activity using sunspots that could only be seen by methods used during previous grand solar minima. I'll bet it wouldn't have any of the tiny spots and blemishes that are recorded nowadays.

Good point. What was the technology traditionally used for viewing these things? Is there a good cut-off date for using magnification?

400 years ago the last grand solar minima the guy used a 1" 1/2" homemade brass telescope with homemade lenses at both ends, the telescope was aimed at the sun and he used a dark colored board to project the image onto it and view the sun that way as looking at the Sun directly threw the telescope will blind you. Projecting it like that you will get a enlarged image but it has its limits.

Today with modern CCD cameras and filter systems they can now view the Sun on a in your face 60" inch HD TV monitor in real time and can zoom in on any spot on the face of the Sun with a mouse click or two.

Offically blank Sun the so called forming Sunspot faided away so it's now 111 spotless days and counting.

Ok; it's after the holiday and everyone is back to work and time for an update.

We are in a eight day stretch and the Sun is still spotless.

So things are looking like this!
Its July 6, We are 187 days into the year 2019.
We've had up to now 117 spotless days.
The number of days with Sunspots is now only 70.
The percentage of the year without Sunspots is now at 63%

Beginning of a New Solar Cycle?

The last set of Sunspots we had one Sunspot with a different magnetic polarity and it's what they look for when the Sun starts a new solar cycle.
So today we have a second Sunspot with this same magnetic polarity and they are now saying its the start of Solar cycle 25. Have to wait and see what else comes out in the next few days or the next Sunspot that shows up if it's official.

So as of today we have a new Sunspot.
We have 118 Spotless days so far this year.
We now have 71 days with Sunspots.
The percentage of the year without Sunspots is right now at 63% and subject to change with the number of days with this new sunspot.
