Some of my leather work

It seems this room has gone dorman. So I thought I would try and see if anyone was still lurking here. Maybe in the shadows. Here’s some of my leather craft.

Beautiful work, to-late! I always love to see what people are making, but like you said, it's extremely quiet in here.

Have you posted in swaps and sales?

no.
I just noticed this room and was having a look around and noticed it was needing some post.
you think folks might be interested in leather goods now days?
most are way costlier than nylon items.

Leather working and sales are high right now, I started doing leatherwork last year when I inherited my dads tools.

Etsy features leather. You could check the sales figures per store for an idea of what people are purchasing, and at what prices. I have had a Medieval style belt from there in my cart for months - maybe this month? I have some leather, some tools and fittings too. So far, the extent of my progress in THAT craft has been to make a leather strop for my wood carving knives. ...So, I should probably just buy the belt, and be done with it!

I hate etsy, so much design theft and the sellers sell way too low prices.

Well thanks for the thoughtful words, folks.
i’ll consider opening the shop back up. It’s been closed for about two yrs. now.
No one in my area could afford the prices. For saddles and horse equipment. But small items I can do for a lot less in final cost.
are there any specific needs?
suggestions?

Very nice! Loved my motorcycle chaps years ago. Each leg was separate with snaps down on outside of each leg. The leather continued up the front, went underneath whatever belt I was wearing, back over the top and snapped in place. Sorta looked crotchless/buttless. Even 35 years ago they were $90, but custom made at a local leather shop.

There's a decent market for cowboy-action holsters, etc. I have a dress holster from Tucker for my 1911.

You might get some business just making custom holsters that are a cut above. (Plus, those spurs of yours are really nice.)

Are you on Facebook? If so join the leather groups there and also this group; USA Made Cowboy Group.

this will give you an idea to what's trending and pricing.

That double holster is gorgeous! How much would you charge for a single?

thanks for the complemet. But the shop is closed now for the last two yrs. it will take me some time to get up to speed for custom work again.
but if you try some of the makers at this link, (and there are some good, and very good, makers there). I’m sure they would love to get some business. And you won’t have to pay my high prices. ;) :lkick:

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
Still, very nice work and I also admire that rig. It’d be a nice home for my Vaquero!

I’m a fan of the single gun rig, not a gunslinger look.

Well yeah. Do you want leather boots or nylon? Leather wins for me. Leather softens and mellows over time. You can condition it. Nylon is... well nylon.
