CORONA So, if you developed The Virus, would you go to hospital?

Oh hell, no. I am 77 - have lived a life rich in both agony and ecstasy. My husband is more at risk, with asthma and high blood pressure. But if one of us gets it, the other surely will. We will stay home so we can be together. Once at the hospital, we would be permanently separated from all loved ones. Nope. Will text or email someone to come and collect us when it's over.

Would you?

I would not. When my time comes, I don’t want to be mired in the medical-industrial complex. I don’t want doctors doing EVERYTHING to keep me alive at all costs. I don’t want to be a science experiment.

Then again, I am 60 and I know what’s coming and I have seen a lot of living in my time.

Just wondering where others stand.

I would if i knew i was dying any way. They may be to ease the transition.

No...like some of your other seniors whose pets mean the world to them, I would not leave my babies.

Being 87, I'm already on borrowed time.
I know I might be signing my death warrant, but when hospitals are filled with CV patients, I would probably be on the list to "allow to die", as I have read happens.

I do have some excellent supplements and will trust them and the Good Lord to put things in His hands.

No, I wouldn't go to the hospital. I've been told by family members that I the event I become unconscious, the decision is no longer mine to make. :c/ They will have me carted off to the hospital.

So give me a shot of Chloroquine and Azithromycin. Rumors and anecdotal information says this can stop the China virus. If I'm drowning in my own fluids, make me a test dummy. Hell, I'm already half way there. Just add test.

Staying home, both of us are 67 and I'm immunodeficient(cancer, chemo, stem cell transplant) Got an adult son at home 43 years old guess he would help one of us with the other. My oncologist is busy as hell but has called and checked up on me about 6 times in two months. That guy is a hero to me. I'd call with a question before going to the hospital.

I had the flu ( of some type) a year ago. Went to bed at home at the end of January. Finally got out of bed the first week of March. It was a terrible event. My wife said that one point I didn't eat for 5 days. She was pretty worried, but was respecting my wishes.

around the time I got sick - and yeah took me 5 days to get past 2 bites of bread. Drank water/lemon juice the entire time. Seriously wondering if it was this thing due to the timing. I NEVER get that sick.

I have several high risk factors and if I got the virus it would not be a pretty sight. Not to mention the point of not being able to breath. I have a nebulizer and three inhalers but I don't think they would save me. I have heart disease, diabetes, and COPD. I've had three heart attacks and nearly died twice. And I'm 66 yrs. old. Besides, my daughter would not give me a choice, she'd just grab me up and take me.
So, yes, I'd go to the hospital.

I'd like to ask all of you who say, hey, I've had a great life, etc., to please consider going if you were in serious distress. You are valued and needed, here if no where else!!! Why not at least give yourself a chance? Again, you are valued!!!

No, we won’t go, but think we already had it anyway.

Fruit Loop made me promise no hospital. Her advanced health directive specifies no respirators and docs are probably the only thing she hates more than Trump. Her biggest fear is landing in a one, or a nursing home with no control.

Hospital is useless here. It is a virus so all they can do is put you on a machine of it goes bad. One guy off that cruise ship said they did absolutely nothing other than give him gatorade and ibuprofen and make sure he did not leave. He will probably get a huge bill anyway

No. I would stay at home and take my antivirals. I think I would have a better chance at recovery taking these over anything the hospital can give me.

According to what I just read on the Main Coronavirus thread, the worry about Doctors doing EVERYTHING to keep you alive may be unnecessary... Article there about having a general DNR for every coronavirus patient...

Some of the anecdotal information also indicates that it may be better (as far as outcomes) as a prophylactic treatment before things get critical, to stave off the potential damage to lungs.

Of course, with as fast as this is spreading, I wonder if manufacturers can ramp up production fast enough to be able to treat all who may need it; assuming the FDA decides the treatment deserves it's blessing...

Whoa Tristan, that's a nice complement, but at 72 I haven't needed those in years. Oh wait..... I see what you mean there. :o

In my case, I went to a hospital one time in my life (when was diagnosed with stage two cancer). They killed me doing a very simple procedure.

God gave me a tour of heaven and brought me back to earth, and every cell of the cancer had disappeared.

I was also healed of many other minor problems. I got rebooted by the Creator.

Next time, I will turn to God as a FIRST resort instead of a last resort.

That’s my decision based on my life experience and an understanding of my body and my health.

that depends on the profit margin . . .

Wow, an incredible experience!! Well, then we just need to focus on you NOT getting this virus. I have a feeling, you are going to come through just fine. :)

You know, this thread is actually making me sad. I guess I always knew this forum had a lot of "older" members (older being relative, of course.) It's depressing to think that some of us really won't survive this, even though statistically we will all get through it. I'm a lurker more than anything, and I've had my religious debates here, been put on ignore by some, and I've put a couple on ignore myself. But this is a reminder, to me anyway, that behind these words, behind our monitors and keyboards, are real people, and I pray everyone here will be okay! (Didn't mean to sound so sappy.)

Only worry about what you can control!
Call in for diagnosis, isolate, and then only if breathing became impossible I'd call for a trip to the hospital. I wouldn't go unless it was absolutely necessary.

About a month ago I had 105 degree fever, major chills and aches, dry cough started the day before. Took cold compress, aspirin and lots of vitamin C crystals asorbic acid powder through out the day. Fever came down to 101 for a couple of days. Feeling better but because the fever was still around 100 I went to the doctor. Not influenza, doctor called it respiratory infection. Who knows it could have been Corona, I work in a school so it could have been.

What would I do now? If it was respiratory, I would take one of the anti-malaria meds, lots of Vit. C, no use going to the hospital with a 5% chance of living even if I went on a ventilator.

They would just put me out in the hall to die. DW has the same fear. We decided to stay home and self treat. We don't want to be separated from each other.

Have a daughter who thinks she has it. (1 1/2 hours away) Spiked a fever to 103 and went to the hospital. Drove herself because she's alone. They sent her home. No Chinese Virus test kits. Zero. I want to go to her. She's refusing. If she gets bad enough, I'm going down there against her wishes. I've lived a full, great life. I just wish I could go out in a firefight rather than a whisper.
No tests for the coronavirus? That’s outrageous. With the inability to properly test and report, we will never have accurate numbers. And we criticize China for not reporting Correct numbers. Neither are we.

and yes, I would go to the hospital if I became really ill.

Goodness before greatness.
I have one of the essential worker port jobs. At work I began the trend setting PPE, and more & more are taking same precautions.

We’re actually mass cleaning the equipment between shifts now. I follow up with my own personal version of same.

Considering One of Clif High’s recent YouTube preventions for a bio-hazardous environment, per some .mil-manual that is very similar to the protocols my wife the black-belt homemaker forces upon me.

On the flip side I made preparations to slow down and isolate if required. Other than that, my native Californian wants to party like a Washoe Indian.

Hospitals are for X- rays, Scanning, and strange things with plumber scope tools. No appointments at this time. Laying low for a bit.
