PLAY So I posted a Trailer for Sale

Not if you pay cash.
The single-payment plan does sting a bit, but only for a few weeks.
Yeah, when my husband gets his bonus each year we buy something we want but don't really "need" with cash. My tundra was it 2 years ago. So, now that I have my new truck I don't really NEED this truck. I got a bedliner in my tundra and haul rocks and stuff all the time. Just dumped a yard of 57 in it yesterday! I kinda hate doing it but I figure it's a truck so gonna get messed up sometime.

Seriously, get the title, fix the truck, and keep it! I really think that if you sell it now, in another year or two or three you'll be regretting it. It's paid for, it still has many miles left in it, it's a useful type of vehicle.

Honestly, if I was you, I'd be keeping that trailer, too, unless you've got another one.

Kathleen

I already sold the trailer. Guy came out and said he didn't have the agreed upon price and offered $100 less and I told him I could take out the 2x12's all the way around the sides and he suddenly found an extra $100 :spns:

I posted this picture on facebook marketplace to sell the trailer.

I received over 40 replies in an hour.

5 for the trailer, 2 asking to buy the dog and unbelievably over 35 asking to buy the old truck... :bhd:

This old truck hasn't left the yard in several years but now I am wondering if maybe we should sell it! It has about 125,000 miles on it but the heater core is shot and the brakes need done. It had a wreck, someone ran into the rear end and a HUGE dent in the rear quarter panel and for some reason the AC doesn't work too well. One of the back windows is out so it has some leaves in the cab but it runs strong and the door locks and windows still work. We use it to move stuff around the place, mulch, limbs and stuff but I do have another truck and golf cart/trailer so don't really need it.

Is this worth trying to sell? I would have to order another title because we lost the title awhile back which is a pain, but It is also a pain keeping it because we have to move it when the guy comes to mow the lawn. What should someone pay for a very old and very ugly (1996) ford f-150? It has a tool box and a bed liner if this makes a difference.

Go out and price a NEW truck with the same spec's as what you have now.....then take a deep breath before looking at the price tag. Talk about STICKER  SHOCK!!

We've got a '05 F150 4x2 that we inherited, and as much as I'd like to get something a little more powerful for pulling our TT and here on the mountain I would prefer something that is four wheel drive, however, I refuse to pay for a new truck what I bought my first house for!! Totally ridiculous!!

new truck is $100k - personal opinion is for that kind of money, the truck has to do more to contribute to earning income other than driving you to and from work.

I got my tundra for way less than 100k! And it's loaded, leather and all that good stuff. However, that was 2 years ago, have they really gone up that much? If so I may sell it and keep the ugly green one, LOL. I've only put 3k miles on it in the past 2 years.... I could probably wash it up and clean out all the dog hair from the cab :lkick:

Here, let me correct that for you:
A fully loaded new truck is $100K.
Since a Ford started the discussion, looking at the Ford website, you can start building an F150 at $29K, an F250 at $34.5K.
A Ram 1500 starts at 29K, a 2500 at $34.5K.
Chevy 1500 starts at $29.3K, 2500 at $35.3K.

Base models, yes, but still way below your projection.

Old pick-em-ups can't be replaced for what you can get for them, and yours isn't in all that bad of shape. Fix it up and keep it handy, and if you don't like moving it for mowing, pour a slab or put in a gravel strip to sit it on. If you think it's trashing up your place, build a shed for it.

It might make you lower on the "juicy target list" just by putting it on blocks in an equipment shed. This isn't really something which comes up much in my neck of the woods but then again we're far enough away from any suburbia that we don't have to do the country estate thing for looks.

LOL I was just thinking that anyone driving up to our place is probably looking out more for chickens running around, dogs waking up from a nap and gathering around the vehicle barking and barn cats wandering out to see what all the ruckus is about, and hoping you'll leave some windows open so they can get inside and snoop around. (not to mention me moving guns out of sight if I don't recognize your vehicle  )

We are moving and trying to rid ourselves of several years of collecting junk. The chickens are re-homed. The 3 geese are as well. (The geese were THE BEST watchdogs, no false alarms like the dogs, who prefer to be in the house anyway) and any cats we had wonder up were coyote lunches. We have been invaded by woke suburban yankees moving down and so we are moving further south.

Four board fence. I could be comfortable behind it - keeps the riff-raff out.

Humans will step over a two board fence - they may even climb a step to throw themselves over a three board fence - but only the most determined will take on a four board fence.

Dobbin

We have the 3 board fence. To keep intruders from coming over it, we planted spiked Yucca plants all along the inside! No one has tried it, yet. LOL!

Ah. That clarifies things. I'd still keep the truck, though - even though it's newer and has some more computer stuff on it than a 70s vintage one would, you never know when it'll come in awfully handy. But if you're shedding stuff, it could go by the wayside easily and be out of your way.

Even if you sell it, I think it'd be worth your while to get it in good running shape and not worry about the dents and such - maybe replace the glass, though. Anyone looking for an old pickup shouldn't worry about any dents. Whoever buys it would probably have several more whiskey dents in it in no time at all!

Yeah, the geese do make a good racket when something comes around that they don't like.

I have a new Tundra I bought a couple years back so don't need to replace it. I lost the title for that and my car too so might as well make my way down to DMV and get both at the same time. I just hate going to DMV.
You might want to run by Wally World and pick up a locking papers storage box for $20 on that trip to the DMV. It costs a few bucks to get replacement titles.

My brother would probably buy it from you, and we are in NC. All you need is an MVR-4 form once the purchase is done. It's like an extra $8. You do not need to order a title.

We originally had my mule and horse in the front yard which is why we put up the fence. Now it's a good deterrent to people entering the yard. I restain it each year to keep it looking pretty. I don't know how long the posts will last though. They are not like the old creosote posts that's for sure!
I find modern posts to last 3-4 years at best. I have switched to concrete for my posts. The rails are still wood. I haven't had an issue since I installed them 5+ years ago. They look as good as when I put them in.

Note: I did have one rail that needed to be replaced due to a limb falling on it and breaking it.

We had to replace a small section of our fence last year, because of a tree falling on it. The rest of our fence is at least 15 yrs. old, and the posts are still standing. They're still in good shape. I would hate to know that we have to replace the whole fence. I don't think we would be able to afford it now, without taking on a bank loan!

I'm going to go take a few more pictures of the truck so y'all can see just how ugly it is.. you only see the front. If you see the whole thing you might change your mind.

Is it v8 or I6?

I see it has dual tanks.
If it's a 351 then it's worth a bit more. (Great engine)

They look like pear trees. If so, forget it. They'll split.
They are the new and improved cleveland pears that don't split. I also have a half dozen of the old bradford pears which do indeed split! They are about 30 years old (very very old for a bradford) and at least 40' tall now. The story is this variety was brought in from Asia where they only grow to about 15' tall and they didn't have the splitting problem. For some reason over here they grow much much taller and as they do, they grow weaker and weaker.

Something funny, talking through PM's turns out foreverkeeps is from my neighborhood, literally a mile or so away and we are actually related through my mom's side of the family... how weird is that!

They will be shepwiener's when the truck is gone. Look out Tundra!

Really it looks like a good truck, if you are selling it cheap it needs to be a step up to the new home.

When I bought this place, I mentioned it on another forum (permies.com), and one of the members there got all excited and PM'd me -- she lives about a mile from here, and had almost bought the place herself a few years earlier! She still wants it if we ever sell. And we've gotten to be good friends. (Not relatives, though.) The on-line world can be a small place!
