and my card got declined.

Hmmm....

Check bank and there is a charge from something called 'LuckBliss'.

Sucka what?

It over drew my account. So there was a OD fee as well.

Got on and called the bank a bit ago-there was also a Cross border fee plus they were trying to charge the card from LuckBliss a second time.

Worked it out Card cancelled and new one coming but keep an eye on stuff like that.

Writing this reminds me-I order something from Australia a few months ago. As soon as the order went in I started getting Texts and Emails to confirm the charge. Think I need to have a talk with the bank about why this went through without any Alerts...

Some one tried to get my information today. They send a note from "C H A S E" not Chase to tell me that my information was compromised and that I needed to use their link to confirm data and card number.....

I am so glad these people can not spell or mimic the proper web sites or email. It makes it so much easier to find the spam.

I only use the debit card at the atm and the grocery store since the Covid started. Everything else is on a credit card and I get email alerts for any charges over $50. If a credit card gets compromised it's the CC company that takes a hit. If my debit card is compromised I'll get the money back but it's going to take awhile. I'd rather have the credit card people be defrauded.

money? whats that?
Okay, I admit it. My wife calls me a barbarian because I believe in cash. I mean, cash is always the right size, shape and color. Cash is never taken from you and cut in half. Cash is (currently) accepted everywhere except car rental agencies and airports. It keeps you from overspending. Nobody has to wait for it to clear the bank. It is untraceable. So I don't have a problem using cash. YEAH, I use cards, but only when I have to use them. The result of this is that when the Dear Wife bought a car a few years ago the finance officer at the dealership came out to shake my hand. He had never seen a credit rating as high as ours.

Edit to add; One thing about using cash is that you don't have to worry about identity theft.

I had someone send me a text that I needed to finish paying for an online class... that text got deleted and immediately.

There are some however that are excellent in trying to scam you. When in doubt call the bank.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, many places will only take cards
Recently one of my sons and his buddies ordered over $200 of food for take out during one of their "get-togethers" and were not told ahead of time they weren't taking cash at this time , he said you'd be surprised how fast they'll take cash when you start walking out. The idiot taking the order over the phone didn't ask for a credit or debit card first and they didn't know the cash policy so they negotiated about 1/3 off the bill and paid cash.

We have been getting these messages for the past week. We don't have any Chase card. I can't believe the giant uptick in scam messages.

I had everything on a thumb drive which was pick pocketed by a foreign national on the plane or the cab driver. They had all of my information, passwords in a file titled "passwords," (including manuscripts, screenplays, etc.)

I thought I had covered all of my passwords and put them in a new file titled (not passwords). I missed Amazon.
The team finally got something because Amazon kept my current card visible when logging in. I caught it and notified my bank online and got a new card. Those guys ae still trying to get me with false e-mails which look very official.

I learned from Silicon Valley to always log into the official sites manually or on my favorites and check my accounts. Several attempts since last year on everything and my bank now requires a second level of security to login into my bank account.

I would be interested to know how the dirty birds got your card number. Then I would buy some more ammo and another gas ration card to visit this sick puppy when it's thirty seconds later scenario.

I have my credit locked on all three report bureaus, but every month someone tries to use my SS number (not name or any other detail,) in an online payday loan. I get an alert from Lifelock and say, no it's not me. Not much I can do about stopping them.

Also, about passwords. If you use a phrase, "into_the_night" when changing it use something different such as "NoParking%4" or a date "zerofour-zerofour-thirtyseven" and it keeps it difficult to "guess" ones' passwords.

I recently bot a hot tub $6000

i told them to hit my CC for half and I would pay balance in cash.. at delivery

they were VERY apprehensive

I would have preferred to have done the whole thing cash

but they wouldnt do it

i said

"if the cash is not here.. dont deliver"

apparently this was unheard of

A little over a year ago, we made a trip to houston,tx. We ate out at a restaurant.

A week later, we get alerts saying someone is buying gas with our card in CA.

(We suspected a staff member at the restaurant copied our card info)

We got our money back but that was disappointing.

Careful who you give your c.c. to at a restaurant.

DD has been on unemployment since March. In NV it is sent to a BofA debit card. She has never used it to purchase anything. Every week she transfers everything to her credit union account. She forgot last week. All of a sudden yesterday there is a $43 charge in San Francisco for Levi's. Well, we're in Las Vegas so not her. She had to suspend that card and get a new one. She also changed the password to the BofA account. She can't transfer anything until the new one comes in so hopefully soon.

Not sure about other states but there's been a ton of theft here in NV and some people who leave it in their BofA accounts have lost thousands. She is lucky it's only $43. Strange because she only gets $203 a week and there was still $160 in her account so they didn't take it all. She transferred that prior to making the call to suspend the card.

We have been getting these messages for the past week. We don't have any Chase card. I can't believe the giant uptick in scam messages.
My identity was stolen earlier in the month during a application ONLINE for a checking account, with my mailing address.

The bank the account was opened on? JPMorgan/Chase. In Texas. When I called my bank to inform them of the thief and be sure and flag my account for anything suspicious, they told me that Chase has had an unreal amount of scamming going on.

So I'm taking it my local bank has seen a good bit of calls concerning Chase.

Not having a criminal mind, two things stuck me as odd. 1) it was a checking account, which in the past you had to deposit money in to open. 2) they maintained my postal address, so I got all the notifications, debit card to the account, etc. mailed to me.

The way it looks to me, a non investigator, they opened the account with say 50.00, then immediately drained the account down to 0.40 to keep the account open.

Which suggests to me that people at Chase are getting bonus' for having accounts opened, like Wells Fargo. So a Chase employee is doing this to bump their bonus.

Or someone opened the account so they could say they had a checking account for another purpose. EBT card, house loan, so they could have a loan payments on a bank draft, to validate the Identity......

It has been a headache. And I'm still doing stuff to keep it all from going south. Getting something done through Equifax was a total nightmare.

Everything has been locked down, and notifications have been sent out. ID theft packets are in the mail. Going to the police station today, and file a complaint, to show places I'm serious it wasn't me.

About as bad as loosing your wallet.

My point was a lot of this is coming from Chase.

A waitress at a mom 'n' pop trucks stop diner did that to me and her accomplices were in North Carolina. Another at a national chain truck stop was using her cell phone on video to copy front and back (567) code for online scamming.

Use cash whenever your card must leave your ands or line of sight.

Just got back from filing a report.

The deputy told me they have filed 3 other complaints of ID's stolen and used at Chase in the past 2 weeks.

He then said: If we, in our small county have had 3, imagine what it's like all over the world.
