Interesting. The chairs are going backwards. Looks like they lost their lift motor with a crowd in the seats, no brakes, so the whole thing is rolling back to the bottom. Funny, in a black humor way.

Not much doubt that it's off. Problem is, it doesn't have a brake.

There's probably no need for a brake in normal usage. The motor and drive train is locked to the cable, so when the motor stops the cable stops. Something broke in the drive train, looks like.
