I will have to rely on my Rem 700 .308, or my modified Springfield .30-06 . Both of those are very accurate, just not as quick on follow ups.

You can slick up a BA and w/ a little practise, you might be surprised how fast you can accurately put a 2nd round into a target. If you come across an old Enfield at a reasonable price, you might want to consider that; their bolt operation really facilitates rapid aimed 2nd shots

My Springfield .30-06 I purchased from a old guy that built it from a full stock 03 Springfield. At the time I was looking for a stock as issued model. But his was just so accurate, I bought it. I am also quite pleased with my Rem 700.

As to the Enfield, I have an Ishapore model, in .308. I am quite happy with it.

Yes, with practice, and good ammunition, BA are quite capable. That said, even though I cannot afford it, I would love to have a SR 25. If I were to win the lottery, I would.

You're correct, Tim, people need to develop "swivel heads," which means to the readers--scan in front of you, to each side, up and down. You already where in the mall you want to go, you've been there before, but the same people and items have not been.

People need to make it a habit to observe everything around them. On their street--was that U-Haul there this morning when you got your newspaper off your porch? Is anyone moving in or out in that immediate area?

When you drop your kids off at school, do you see anyone on foot or in a vehicle that appears to be casing the area? Same for your grocery stores.

Look up, down, and all around--that's one of the keys to situational awareness. You already know that, Tim, I'm talking to those who don't know yet.

Because MOST people do not do it!
You will call attention to yourself if you are too openly practicing this and someone is watching you on a camera feed!

I do love the action on the 303. Much smoother than the Mauser action imho

The Mad Moment was when a unit dumped ammo as fast as possible from their SMLEs toward the enemy. It worked so well the Germans swore they were facing MGs.

The trick was apparently a unique way of pulling the trigger with the 2nd finger and simultaneously using the index finger to start the bolt throw. I can't say for sure as I've never met anyone who could tell me but, based on how fast the Enfield bolt opens, it makes some sense.

I bought tickets for my sister and I to travel to Florida via Amtrak. In the New Orleans station, she dug in her purse, and pulled out her money envelope from her bank, in order to take out some bills to purchase something. I was absolutely horrified!

Later on, I lectured her. (We're both in our 70s.)

#1) "It's absolutely obvious that you are a tourist. (Flamingos on shirt, pants, shoes, and purse, plus a floppy hat with flamingos on the brim.)

#2) "It's also obvious that you are a fragile, little, old lady. An eight-year-old girl could knock you down, grab your money, and run away!"

So oblivious!!!

If questioned, just explain that you are an avid bird watcher, join the Audubon Society, get a membership card if you are worried about that.

That in fact happened several time in WW2 where British soldiers stopped a German attack cold due to a Mad Minute.
