Neither here nor there.
I used to shear when I was younger, much younger, that's something I truly do miss! On a couple of the farms they raised fiber sheep but didn't send the fleeces off to processing, they'd put them on the burn pile! So I'd shear some of the sheep in exchange for the fleeces, often getting rambouillet, lincoln, shetland, and other quality fleeces. Some were dirtier than others but hey when you're a young poor artist, free is free!

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
We had our annual shearing day this past Wednesday. It went so smoothly!! Our shearer is great, and all my friends who came to help are fantastic. Good shearing, good friends, good food, good day. I learned to shear, and did well.......until one of them kicked me square between the eyes!! I had my glasses on, so it hurt double bad!

I kept on shearing after a short break to stop my nose from bleeding but I had a pretty bad headache.

Woke up the next day and spent it in the ER..both eyes black and a concussion. Lucky the Doc I got had grown up on a SHEEP FARM!! He made me stay in the ER on a gurney in one of the rooms, because I was dizzy and could not stay awake.

Finally, he sent me home (to my motel room) and said no driving until I was able to see only one of everything!!

Interesting experience.......but I just used hired shearers for my herd of Angoras after that......
