ScramKit ChowHauls - Three-day Only Freebie Bonuses

Bonus offer added -- three days only, TB2K users only --

Call me a pushover. I want to sell a lot of these ChowHauls fast, but I know the prices on these units are not necessarily conducive to some folks here easily justifying the expenditure. And I hate for folks to think that I'm not dealing with their best interests in mind.

So for the next 72 hours--till 11am Central, Jan 16, I am going to throw in some freebies for ChowHaul buyers. In fact, I'm getting generously stupid here because I'm going to throw in some really good stuff I have on hand here that is not cheap--for free.

And please note that the TB2K prices on these ChowHauls are already discounted nicely.

Buy a 14.2 and I'll throw in a NightStar shaker flashlight AND a compact GP-4L FM/shortwave/flashlight unit w/ a reel SW antenna and a hard case for the GP-4L.

Buy a 7.2 and I'll throw in a Katadyn Xstream XR purifier bottle.

I'm not done yet ... buy either one of the ChowHauls and I will also throw in a Tool Logic SL 1 Survival Light/Knife in a tin OR an ECIN 6 Triple Torch butane lighter in a tin.

Total all that up, I'm emptying inventory to the tune of $63-$112 retail as free, cool prepping stuff as incentive to buy a ChowHaul. (If you would prefer some other mixture of the product offering listed here, or if there is something else in my store of comparable value--try me, I may be able to deal.)

Please note that this offer won't happen again and that the ChowHaul TB2K group buy prices will soon no longer be in effect.

Looks good JC....

Pretty timely with everything going on in the world these days.... saves me the time to put it together.... I'm such a procrastinator (did I spell that right?)... and even though most people could put it together.... most won't and wish they did.... hmmmmm......

Any room left in those bags for items I may want to put in?.... maybe water carriers or bottles?.....

Hi Sammy. Thanks for the comments.

The 14.2 is chock full but you could slide some small items in it if desired ... and there is an outside pocket on the bag that is unutilized at this point.

There's more room for additional gear in the 7.2 and that too has an outside pocket.

I'll take this opportunity to point out that some folks might feel the pricing of these units is not as low as they would have hoped, and that maybe they could put together a kit like this themselves cheaper. I'd suggest that unless they can buy all these products in bulk and at wholesale, it won't happen. Though of course if you substitute cheaper quality here and there, you should be able to come close. The killer to trying to do this on your own (even when buying at the best retail prices out there) is the various shipping charges that add up and will ultimately exceed the deal here.

As you've kind of said, Sammy, this is about speed, and convenience. It is also about quality and saving a little money. ;)

I have a question. Are these Ad Threads open to questions, discussion or critique? Or are they just places to place orders? Mods, please clarify!

IMHO the price will keep many people from ordering. I wish all of you could learn to live off the land. Our Earth Mother provides everything we need for survival. Blessings, Aaron

You're right about that. I'm scraping along now, looking for ways to buy and store food for emergency. Canned food outlets and 1$ store goodies for me!

Hi JC

I was just wondering exactly how much TB2K gets from these sales.

To keep it simple, suppose you sell exactly $1000.00 worth of product. How much of that, in dollars and cents, goes to TB2K?

It depends on the product. We average between 20-30% of the margin. It is Dennis's place to decide whether he wants to reveal how much TB2K gets from this activity ... but I will say that the total figure routed to TB2K thru 8 months of activity last year is not insignificant.

I know you folks are shrewd shoppers. I guarantee, with all the freebies thrown in, there is NOT a deal like this out there anywhere else ... not even close.

JC, you might want to change the date in your first post.

Yikes! Looks like a clutzy calendar goof. And now I can't get in to edit that first post--if any MODs are able, it would be great if you could go into the first post and change that date from Jan. 16 to Jan. 9.

Thanks Amethyst. I was way ahead of myself, I guess.

Fact is, there's now less than 24 hours left on this bonus offer.

was kind of thinking about the 7.2 as a bugout item, but it's pricy...

also, the $7 discount to TB2K members on a $430 item just isn't anything to write home about...

Personally, I've been looking at MRE entre's to fill this niche. Much more cost effective, and about the same, if not better shelf life. Probably won't taste as good, though.

Also selection - I like certain foods and hate others. With a package I have to get some I don't like. (and I may not like the ones I DO like, if they are freezedried. Never eaten mountain house foods. I would sure want to try at least one, before plopping down any serious money...

If I might offer a sugestion on your scramkits - look at who you are selling to. Basically ALL of us will have some of the componets you are offering in any given package. Your best strategy would be a "build it yourself" kit, so buyers would not be duplicating stuff they allready had and offer a certain % discount to board members off that.

I'm also not real "wow'd about the disposable cartrage stove. Perhaps consider as an alternative, the Optimus Nova multi-fuel stove? Eats fingernail polish, gassoline, vodka, whatever! Much more useful! Something that uses cartrages is a doorstop, after the cartrages are gone.

just some thoughts,

-t

Actually, T, on the 7.2 base price, it's a $24 discount to TB2Kers--considering the cost of shipping that is eliminated from the TB2K purchases.

On the issue of MREs vs. Mountain House pouches--there are pluses and minuses to each. Shelf life--IF MREs are stored at a consistent temperature at or below room temp, they will probably outlast the Mountain House pouches (not to be confused with the #10 cans which are good for 30 years).

As for other points--the principle factors we kept in mind for these ChowHauls were size/weight for being able to carry as much food as possible in one bag, and of course, price.

Portability in quantity--I believe the freeze dried food in pouches is going to provide much more food/number of servings in a compact size and weight than you would get in a comparable space filled with MREs. As to how exactly they would compare in that regard, I'm not sure--it would be interesting to know. But I don't deal in MREs. Maybe some day ... but I am now focused on Mountain House which is the food of choice by most of those who actually eat camping/climbing/portability/storage foods, given their druthers.

T, maybe you could do the figuring since you have some MREs on hand. How many could you get in a bag the size we are talking in these ScramKits? And how much would they weigh, how many servings would we be talking?

You already pointed out the likely taste difference for most.

And if I'm not mistaken, MREs, compared to the price of Mountain House servings in these bags, would be pricier.

On the Jetboils--yes, you want to have the fuel cannisters, but they are the size and type that are available just about anywhere. There are plenty of other choices out there for heating foods, including the Optimus Nova as you mentioned--which is a bit older technology, takes a bit more effort to use (is not meant for use while actually on the move) and is maybe 50% more expensive. Somewhat in this vein, I'll point out too that the Mountain House food is perfectly good to eat unheated, so IF there is a fuel issue and/or you don't want to bother with a campfire or whatever, you can open the pouch, add water, and eat.

On the build it yourself suggestion--I believe you know that I do indeed bend over backward to get folks what they want at the best prices possible. If anyone contacts me wanting to buy certain components here, I certainly would sell them what they want if possible. But from a practicality aspect, I am a micro-shop at this point and do not have the space or resources to stock a lot of items that I don't know if I'll ever be able to sell.

Specifically on the ChowHauls, we're putting together a kind of product here in relatively small quantities that allow us to take advantage of wholesale pricing and some shipping cost efficiencies as well. But just as important, to my knowledge, it is a pretty unique package of products that those who don't have a bugout food bag just may want to procure in an easy, one-shot purchase.

Suffice it to say, I'd love to be able to be everything to everybody, but I need to try to capture some efficiencies where I can in order to stay in price ranges that I'm not just blown out of the water by the giants out there. Believe me, it ain't easy.

Last call on the freebies. Am stepping out for a bit (shipping ChowHauls and other product actually). If you want in but have questions before the offer expires, just send an email before deadline and you'll be good.
