Liberal freakout over RBG death.
Liberal tears are so sweet!

Is it just me, or does she seem to be operating a right-hand drive vehicle?
Seat belt crosses from upper right, to lower left. At first I thought she was a passenger until she stated that she was driving.
Quite amusing nonetheless!
Unless she's a postal worker. The, not so amusing (in re mail-in balloting).

Behold, I am coming soon.
Can someone explain Murkowski and Collins to me, please? What are they thinking? Do they represent their constituents and their thinking? Are they capable of prudent, independent thinking? What is the deal.

Forget Mittens.......he is a Democrat plant.

Amazing watching the Democrats demanding the president potentially surrender a Supreme Court pick or they’ll destroy the court, and how the media don’t criticize them. Lawless bastards.

If Sen. McConnell and @SenateGOP were to force through a nominee during the lame duck session—before a new Senate and President can take office—then the incoming Senate should immediately move to expand the Supreme Court. 1/2 View: https://twitter.com/jakesherman/status/1307327506031276036…

Imagine the delicious reaction if Monday morning Trump announced that he and the Republicans are going to take Nadler's suggestion and are moving to expand the SC. Trump could then present his top 10 list of nominees. Liberals would be screeching! Reeeee! Reeeee! If/When Trump wins, he really should follow up on this and thank Nadler for his advice.

I'm so sick of all this one sided threat after threat if the Dems don't get their way. Republicans need to call their bluff and start playing just as dirty as they do. Do any of you think for one moment if the parties were reversed the Dems wouldn't have already presented their nominee for a rushed vote? They'd have to stop celebrating the death of a conservative Justice first (and we all know that's exactly what they'd be doing right now), but you can bet they'd be pushing this through next week.

I find it a tad presumtious of the Congressional whiner party to believe that Trump isn't going to be elected in November. And then try to use that an excuse for not doing their job. Trump is going to be President till January - even if he loses to Biden.

Let's see if Lindsey 'I'm going to get to the bottom of this.' Graham maintains control of the forthcoming circus of which he is ringmaster.

I doubt it.

He is on the hot seat, and in a tight race back home. Better step up to the plate and do his job.....or go home and get to the bottom of something there.

Trump Says SCOTUS Pick Will Be A Woman. Here Are 12 Possibilities.
By Eric Quintanar

President Donald Trump told a crowd of supporters at a campaign rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, that he will nominate a woman to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Friday after a battle with cancer.

“It will be a woman, a very talented, very brilliant woman,” said Trump, who received cheers from the crowd in response to his statement. “We have numerous women on the list. I built this incredible list of brilliant people.”

Trump later tweeted a video containing some of his remarks about filling the vacancy from the North Carolina rally, saying to cheers: “I will be putting fourth a nominee next week. It will be a woman.” At a different point during the rally, he praised the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as an inspiration to all Americans, and noted that her relationship with the late Justice Antonin Scalia is a “powerful reminder that we can disagree on fundamental issues while treating each other with decency, dignity, and respect.”

Trump, who added over a dozen names to his Supreme Court list earlier this week, also called on Biden to release a similar list of people who the Democratic nominee, if elected in November, would nominate to fill a vacancy on the nation’s highest court.

While the president’s list of potential SCOTUS nominees contains several dozen names, his insistence on Saturday that the vacancy would be filled by a woman has narrowed down the lists to twelve people, including:

Amy Coney Barrett, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
Allison Eid, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit
Britt Grant, U.S. Court of Appeals Eleventh Circuit
Joan Larsen, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
Margaret Ryan, former U.S. Court of Appeals for Armed Forces
Diane Sykes, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
Bridget Bade, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Barbara Lagoa, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit
Martha Pacold, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
Sarah Pitlyk, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri
Allison Jones Rushing, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
Kate Todd, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Counsel to the President

ABC News, citing “multiple sources familiar with the thinking of the president and his advisers,” reports that Judge Amy Coney Barrett, 48, of Indiana, is considered a front-runner for the vacant seat. Notably, Barrett was one of the finalists when Trump was considering a replacement for Justice Anthony Kennedy, whose seat was later filled by Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

According to USA Today, Judge Barbara Lagoa, 52, a recent addition to the list of potential Supreme Court nominees, and Trump briefly mentioned her during remarks to reporters on Saturday, saying that he has “heard at length” about her and that she is “highly respect.”

Ted Cruz Explains Perfectly Why RBG's Seat Must Be Filled Before the Election
BY MATT MARGOLIS SEP 18, 2020 10:47 PM EST

Republican Senator Ted Cruz says President Donald Trump needs to nominate a successor Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg next week, and that the Senate should confirm that choice or the country risks a constitutional crisis.

“I believe that the president should, next week, nominate a successor to the court. I think it is critical that the Senate takes up and confirms that successor before Election Day,” Senator Cruz told Sean Hannity on Fox News.

“Democrats and Joe Biden have made clear they intend to challenge this election. They intend to fight the legitimacy of the election. As you you know Hillary Clinton has told Joe Biden ‘under no circumstances should you concede, you should challenge this election.’ and we cannot have election day come and go with a 4-4 court.”

Cruz continued, “A 4-4 court that is equally divided cannot decide anything. And I think we risk a constitutional crisis if we do not have a nine-justice Supreme Court, particularly when there is such a risk of … a contested election.”

Cruz then shared his experience litigating Bush vs. Gore case and how the country didn’t know for 37 days who the president-elect was. “I think we have the responsibility to do our job. The president should nominate a principled constitutionalist with a proven record and the Senate … should do our job and protect the country from the constitutional crisis that could result otherwise.”
Tonight, we mourn the passing of a historic justice and a legendary advocate.

He will be President until January 20, yes, but the new Senate is seated January 3rd, 2021.

They need to get the SC nominee approved before the current Senate convenes, because I am not sure that Reps will keep the Senate majority. I can only hope that they will.

Not true; some have been replaced on the same day to a week or two to as long as a few months.

Way too long to C&P, but list of every SC judge ever seated.

This would have been a better link (too bad I didn't find it earlier).

It does show exactly how many days from nomination to confirmation or rejection of every SC nominee, the party of President and majority of Senate. It seems it started taking longer for most after WWII. Interesting.

ETA: link to a list of all US Justices and Judges that died in office (includes Supreme Court deaths minus Ginsburg)

If anyone believes the predictions that Trump will appoint a total of 4 Supremes ever thought of who will be next?

I nominate "The Wise Latina". I don't believe she is in the pink of health.

She is 66 years old, so not old-old like some, but Sotomayor is supposedly a brittle type 1 diabetic, so that could be a fairly safe guess.

Clarence Thomas retiring to travel the country with his wife in their RV is something I've seen bandied about for a year or so. :shr:

Neither here nor there.
Apparently Trump will be announcing her replacement sometime this coming weekend... Per a Chad Prathers FB page... this was one of the comments that was left.

"Gotta be Hillary. Imagine the shit that will come out during confirmation. And not just from her confused fan base."
