Rosacea

Be Well

may all be well
Anyone have experience with Rosacea? I just finally realized what the redness and irritation on my face is. I am investigating natural remedies and would appreciate any more especially if anyone has tried some and they worked.

I see people have looked at this but maybe don't know of treatments? Or don't have it, I hope no one else does!

I've been applying green tea - I make a pint and keep in the fridge, and about 5 or 6 times a day pour out a handful and splash all over my face. I also have been using pure Rose Water in my eyes - about 10 drops in each eye - a few times a day. Also taking an herb formula called Mahasudarshan a few times a day, it's specifically for liver and spleen, and aggravated Pitta - heat - is always connected with "hot" skin outbreaks. After quite a few days my skin has calmed down some; the itching and burning is reduced, the redness is somewhat reduced, and eyes are not so itchy/sand in them feeling. All typical rosacea symptoms.

Will report back and if anyone does have things they know of I'm open to more! I have more ideas from reading and will try them but not all at once or I won't know what's working.

I started up with it when I turned 18 and I did go to a specialist for it. He diagnosed it and did put me on antibiotics to help clear up my skin but told me that there was no known cure or help for it. I have tried just about all forms of lotion without any success. I try never to put anything on my face that has perfume in it or anything with alcohol also. That does seem to help. When I get nervouse, like now having been injured and taking a long time to fully recover, the redness and scaling gets worse. Sun does help to make it less obvious. So maybe some kind of sun lamp would help? I don't have the money to try it and if it doesn't work, just toss it. Good luck and I do hope you will be able to stop any more things that are upsetting to you. My Doctor said to walk away from people who make me upset. Don't argue, just leave was his best advice.

have you tried vanicream? The lite lotion is easy to use, it won't do anything for wrinkles unfortunately, but it is recommended for helping heal the redness. The cream is a little thick and harder to apply and doesn't help with wrinkles either, fwiw. I'd try the lite lotion first. You can buy it at Walgreens.

Be Well, try using Bauch & Lomb sterilized water to bathe your eyes with an eye cup. I find it helps a lot and the only thing I use on my face is plain cool water with an all cotton wash cloth. Splash your face with cool water many times a day. Don't use make-up. MOST helpful is ....do not let your nerves get the best of you. Truthfully, it is the worst thing for Rosacea outbreaks.
Good luck and just remember, JESUS is the caregiver.

Amazed

Does too have a life!
I go to two different dermatologists. One does my yearly body scan for suspicious growths. He will only remove something if he thinks it's cancerous. My other one will remove anything for a price. I was having the redness, burning and itchiness on my face and it was getting worse. One dermatologist said it was rosacea and the other said it was eczema. Well neither one of the meds they prescribed worked. One day it got very painful and I was desperate. I had a prescription for Ciclopirox Olamine Cream which is an anti fungal med. Within minutes my face was so much better and it cleared entirely in a couple of days.

I mentioned this to derm #2 and he thought for a minute and said yeah, that could work! (I thought I had discovered fire and this took the air out of my balloon. )

So if nothing else works, maybe try an antifungal.

Q. I have been seeing a dermatologist for years for my rosacea. Nothing really helps much, and many things irritate my skin.
I saw my neurologist for headaches, and he asked what I was doing for my face. I told him I'd tried everything, but was currently using Finacea. He suggested using Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo on my face, for about five minutes, while taking a shower.
It took three days before I could see a difference, but for the first time in eight years, the redness is finally going away! The shampoo dries my skin, so I moisturize after the shower. My face looks better than it ever has.
A. Rosacea causes redness of the cheeks, nose and forehead. Thanks for sharing your story. Others have reported that topical application of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) or milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) can also be helpful for this skin condition.

Sulphur soap also works for this.

People have indicated collidal silver solution, taken internally, and with a direct application will help. I have not tried it myself.

Interesting. My dermatologist also suggested washing my face with dandruff shampoo, but it has to be the one with salicylic acid - TSal was the specific brand recommended. And it does make my face a lot less dry. Still have the redness, but it's subsided a lot. I was also given a prescription for a face cream I was supposed to combine with an over the counter anti-itch cream and use like a moisturizer, I never did get around to trying it.
