Extra police patrolling downtown San Jose due to recent violence

by: Rob Fladeboe
Posted: Sep 25, 2020 / 06:25 PM PDT / Updated: Sep 25, 2020 / 06:25 PM PDT

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) – San Jose police are beefing up patrols this weekend in Downtown San Jose where police say recent violence has people on edge.

Residents and businesses can expect to see more officers on patrol and on foot, walking beats.
Police insist this is not because of any potential trouble related to protests in connection with the Breonna Taylor case but rather because of recent violence that left three people dead.

Extra cops were in Downtown San Jose on Friday — At least a dozen more units were on patrol.
Why? A shooting near San Jose State last week and a stabbing on Monday near City Hall left three people dead.

The incidents are not related but police are concerned nonetheless, says Deputy Chief Heather Randol.

Except for vehicle burglaries, crime is down in San Jose but the recent violence is worrisome.
Some merchants welcome the extra patrols, which include cops on foot along Santa Clara Street but others, like the owner of the Mezcal restaurant, is hoping more cops will deter homeless people from harassing his outdoor diners and worries that too many cops may send the wrong message and keep business away.

There are now three to five more officers on top of the regular units assigned to the downtown area during the dayside and swing shifts — That’s a 15 to 20 percent increase.

Police insist the extra patrols are not related to the ongoing protests and vandalism at and around City Hall.

It’s about visibility, says the deputy chief.

Almost all are multiple re-streams. Some are in a sequential type format where the restreamer goes from one location to another. (Some offer considerable narrative with that restream.) Others have that composite view and rotate sound. You can tell which one they are on by the thin red box around it. You can see all the action from various streamers at once, but they are tiny boxes if it is particularly active.

Sometimes you can get an individual on site streamer. Usually these are Facebook, Periscope or Twitch streams. Occasionally, RT and Reuters will stream a documentary reporter on Youtube.

Department of Justice
Office of Public Affairs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, September 24, 2020

Over 300 People Facing Federal Charges For Crimes Committed During Nationwide Demonstrations

The Department of Justice announced today that more than 300 individuals in 29 states and Washington, D.C., have been charged for crimes committed adjacent to or under the guise of peaceful demonstrations since the end of May.

To date, of the 94 U.S. Attorneys’ Offices (USAOs), more than 40 USAOs have filed federal charges alleging crimes ranging from attempted murder, assaulting a law enforcement officer, arson, burglary of a federally-licensed firearms dealer, damaging federal property, malicious destruction of property using fire or explosives, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, unlawful possession of a destructive device, inciting a riot, felony civil disorder, and others. Violent opportunists have exploited these demonstrations in various ways.

Approximately 80 individuals have been charged with offenses relating to arson and explosives. Approximately 15 individuals have been charged with damaging federal property. In some instances, these individuals are alleged to have set fires to local businesses as well as city and federal property, which will regrettably incur millions of taxpayer dollars to repair damages to the Portland Courthouse, Nashville Courthouse, Minneapolis Police Third Precinct, Seattle Police East Precinct, and local high school in Minnesota; and, to replace police cruisers in South Carolina, Washington, Rhode Island, Georgia, Utah, and other states.

Corporate and local businesses were also targeted, including a Target Corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Boost Mobile Store in Milwaukee, Champ Sports Store in Tampa, and local restaurants including a pizza parlor in Los Angeles and a sushi bar in Santa Monica. Through these acts, these individuals have shown minimal regard to their communities and for the safety of others and themselves.

In Washington, D.C., outside of the U.S. Supreme Court, a man was engulfed in flames after he poured a liquid from a gas can onto three U.S. Supreme Court Police vehicles; he suffered severe burns. In Virginia Beach, authorities identified a man who is alleged to have threatened to burn down an African American church.

Approximately 35 individuals have been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and related offenses. One of these cases was charged in Massachusetts; the rest of these individuals were charged in Oregon. The assaults have targeted local and federal law enforcement officers. In Portland, a man is alleged to have approached a U.S. Marshals Deputy from behind and struck the deputy in the upper back, neck, and shoulder with a wooden baseball bat; another man, allegedly assaulted a Deputy U.S. Marshal with an explosive device. In Boston, a man allegedly shot at least 11 times toward officers, including a deputized federal officer.

Approximately 30 individuals have been charged with offenses related to civil disorder. In several instances, these individuals leveraged social media platforms to incite destruction and assaults against law enforcement officers. In Cleveland, two Pennsylvania men are charged with driving to the city with the intent to participate in a riot and commit acts of violence. In their possession, authorities found a black backpack containing a hammer, two containers of Sterno Firestarter Instant Flame Gel, a can of spray paint, a glass bottle of liquor with a bar-style pour top, a Glock semi-automatic firearm and two magazines loaded with ammunition. In Knoxville, one individual allegedly instructed his social media followers to, “bring hammers bricks whatever you want.” The same defendant allegedly used a trashcan lid filled with an unknown liquid to strike a law enforcement officer in the head while the officer was seated in a police vehicle.

Charges have also been filed against individuals accused of committing burglary and carjacking. In Pittsburgh, two individuals allegedly attempted to burglarize a Dollar Bank. In Louisville, two individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary involving controlled substances at a local Walgreens. Another Louisville individual was charged with carjacking; at the time of the carjacking, the individual was on a felony diversion as a result of a February 2020 conviction for charges that were initially filed as complicity to murder and complicity to robbery.

Several of these charges carry significant maximum prison sentences. For example, felony assault of a federal officer with a dangerous weapon is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Arson is punishable by up to 20 years in prison with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.

The following agencies and U.S. Attorney’s offices have investigated these cases along with multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies: The FBI; U.S. Marshals Service; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); and United States Attorneys’ Offices (including the District of Arizona, the Central District of California, the Northern District of California, the Southern District of California, the District of Colorado, the District of Columbia, the District of Delaware, the Middle District of Florida, the Northern District of Georgia, the Central District of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, the Southern District of Indiana, the Western District of Kentucky, the Middle District of Louisiana, the District of Maine, the District of Massachusetts, the District of Minnesota, the Eastern District of Missouri, the Western District of Missouri, the District of Nevada, the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of New York, the Northern District of New York, the Southern District of New York, the Western District of New York, the Eastern District of North Carolina, the District of North Dakota, the Northern District of Ohio, the Southern District of Ohio, the District of Oregon, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Western District of Pennsylvania, the District of Rhode Island, the District of South Carolina, the Eastern District of Tennessee, the Middle District of Tennessee, the Northern District of Texas, the Western District of Texas, the District of Utah, the Eastern District of Virginia, the Western District of Washington, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Western District of Wisconsin).

The ATF and FBI continue to urge the public to report suspected arson, use of explosive devices, or violent, destructive acts associated with the recent unrest. Anyone with information can call 1-888-ATF-TIPS (1-888-283-8477), email ATFTips@atf.gov, or submit information anonymously via ReportIt.com.
In addition to those who commit fires, the FBI is looking for people who may have incited or promoted violence of any kind. Anyone with digital material or tips can call 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324) or submit images or videos at FBI.gov/violence.

An indictment and criminal complaint merely alleges that crimes have been committed. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The truth finally emerges about Breonna Taylor's death

By Andrea Widburg

The truth has finally emerged about Breonna Taylor's death this past March. It turns out (surprise!) that the Democrat party — in Congress, in the media, and on the streets — has been lying. Taylor was not a complete innocent whom racist police slaughtered in her bed during a no-knock raid. Instead, she was the victim of her poor choices in men: her friendship with a local drug kingpin justified the raid, and her boyfriend's decision to open fire on police who had knocked and identified themselves led to her shooting. That certainly doesn't mean she deserved to die, but it explains why she did.

The case begins with Breonna's ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover. The Louisville Courier-Journal delved deeply into that relationship, while the following is a summary.

Glover is an accused drug-trafficker who is believed to be part of a large drug- and weapons-trafficking ring in Louisville. According to an affidavit, Glover went to Taylor's apartment in January, left the apartment holding a package, and went straight to a "known drug house."

That wasn't Glover's only trip to Breonna's apartment. Police had placed a tracking device on Glover's car, which showed he made frequent trips to her apartment, leading police to believe that her apartment was a holding place for drugs and money. Glover was also heard telling someone that Taylor handled his money, although there is no evidence that this statement was true.

Taylor also seemed familiar with Glover's world of drugs. When he was arrested in January, he called to ask her to locate an associate who could post bail. She answered that the associate was "already at the trap," slang for a drug-trafficking house. On another occasion, Taylor posted a $2,500 bond for Darreal Forest, another man who police suspect was involved in the drug ring.

The Courier-Journal has still more evidence of the close connection between Glover and Taylor. That's why the police got a warrant to search Taylor's house.
Whether or not Taylor was involved in the drug and weapons ring, she ran with a bad crowd. She would have done well to heed Aesop, who warned, "If you choose bad companions, no one will believe that you are anything but bad yourself."

Taylor didn't choose any more wisely when it came to her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. He was the reason the police shot Breonna.

Kentucky attorney general Daniel Cameron held a press conference on Wednesday, explaining all of the grand jury's findings. The most important one was that the police did not do a no-knock raid. That was what everyone was told to justify why Breonna's boyfriend, Walker, shot at the police when they entered the apartment:
Evidence shows that officers both knocked and announced their presence at the apartment. The officers' statements about their announcement are corroborated by an independent witness who was near in a proximity to apartment four. In other words, the warrant was not served as a no-knock warrant.
When Walker and Taylor did not answer the door, the officers broke the door. Sergeant Mattingly entered, saw Walker with a gun pointed at him, and felt himself get shot. It happened that quickly. Walker confirmed that he fired the first shot, and ballistics shows his bullet wounded Mattingly.

At that point, all of the officers opened fire. As a reminder, they did it because one of their own had taken a bullet, and they all knew that they were in a kill or be killed situation. Moreover, the barrage of bullets they fired (32 bullets) was appropriate. The magical single shot that takes out the bad guy in Hollywood movies doesn't exist. Once you start shooting, you must shoot to end the threat completely.

Six of the bullets struck Breonna. It's telling that none hit Walker. Had he run away or hidden behind her? Or was she just very unlucky? Cameron doesn't say.

Concerning the fatal shots, Cameron debunks another lie. The media claimed that Breonna was in bed, implying a passive figure whom the police massacred. In fact, Taylor was standing at Walker's side, and she knew or should have known that Walker was armed:
Sergeant Mattingly identified two individuals standing beside one another at the end of the hall, a male and a female. In his statement, he says that the male was holding a gun, arms extended in a shooting stance.
Both Cameron and the grand jury showed real bravery in refusing to indict police officers who did everything by the book, only to find themselves under fire. Although she did not deserve to die, the fact is that Breonna made terrible choices when it came to the men in her life. These choices started a chain reaction that ended with her dying almost instantly from one of the six bullets that hit her.

Yes, "superchat" contributions are how Youtuber's make money. They have software, equipment and their time to cover. Some of the restreamers collect for funds for injured cops, some pass money on to the on-site streamers out in the field.

NEWSOCTOBER 03, 2020
Photojournalist went undercover to expose white supremacists at riots, but found black bloc anarchists instead
The NYT finally discovered anarchists that spent the summer destroying American citie

PAUL SACCA

Photojournalist Jeremy Lee Quinn was furloughed this year, so he set out to document the protests and the riots that beset cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. Quinn expected to discover white supremacists caused havoc and violence at riots, but what he actually found shocked him — violent left-wing anarchists who were extremely organized.

On May 31, Quinn covered a Black Lives Matter protest in Santa Monica, California, where "suburban moms" were kneeling. Then he was alerted to a shoe store being looted about a mile away.

"He arrived to find young people pouring out of the store, shoeboxes under their arms. But there was something odd about the scene," Farah Stockman wrote in the New York Times. "A group of men, dressed entirely in black, milled around nearby, like supervisors. One wore a creepy rubber Halloween mask."

The next day, Quinn went to another protest, and another store was being looted. A white man wearing all black smashed the window of the store with a crowbar, but he walked away without stealing anything.

Quinn started pouring over footage of looting that was happening across the country. Once again, he noticed that white men dressed in black were often the culprits of the looting.

Quinn believed that the caucasian men causing damage were white supremacist supporters of President Donald Trump, who were attempting to make Black Lives Matter protests appear in a negative light. In an effort to expose the alleged racist Trump supporters, Quinn went undercover and infiltrated the groups. Instead, he found that these destructive forces were "true believers in insurrectionary anarchism."

Over the next four months, Quinn marched along with "black bloc anarchists in half a dozen cities across the country." He was in Washington D.C., where militant agitators harassed diners, and in Portland where rioters launched fireworks at the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse.

"He says he respects the idealistic goal of a hierarchy-free society that anarchists embrace, but grew increasingly uncomfortable with the tactics used by some anarchists, which he feared would set off a backlash that could help get President Trump re-elected."

Quinn told the New York Times that the far-left anarchists were not "a spontaneous eruption of anger at racial injustice," like much of the mainstream media categorized the violence as. "It was strategically planned, facilitated and advertised on social media by anarchists who believed that their actions advanced the cause of racial justice."

Quinn cautioned that the violent militants in Washington, Portland, and Seattle generated a "cultlike energy."

Quinn saw something else he did not expect to see during the protests, Black Lives Matter protesters praying together with Trump supporters in Tulsa.

Quinn detailed his experience during protests and riots on his website, Public Report, where he warned how dangerous far-left anarchist groups could be.

"Establishment media still continues to overlook trending Anarchist black bloc tactics especially in DC, Portland & Seattle with satellite activity in Denver, Sacramento and San Diego," Quinn wrote. "Insurrectionary Anarchist ideology & rhetoric however has permeated into the social justice movement with blazing efficiency."

"In our experience in Louisville, Community was strong and gravitating towards non violent protest," he wrote. "Earlier in the afternoon we saw individual protesters shutting down agitators trying to use fireworks. But the arrival of a U-Haul with Anarcho / Antifascist symboled shields changed everything."

Many of the left-wing extremists consider themselves "insurrectionary anarchists," some of which "advocate using crimes like arson and shoplifting to wear down the capitalist system."

The NYT article cites a report by Rutgers researchers that documents the "systematic, online mobilization of violence that was planned, coordinated (in real time) and celebrated by explicitly violent anarcho-socialist networks that rode on the coattails of peaceful protest." The research found that some anarchist social media accounts had exploded 300-fold since May, garnering hundreds of thousands of followers.

Stockman explained the problem with making alliances with insurrectionary anarchists. "If they help you get into power, they will try to oust you the following day, since power is what they are against," she wrote. "Many of them don't even vote. They are experts at unraveling an old order but considerably less skilled at building a new one. That's why, even after more than 100 days of protest in Portland, activists do not agree on a set of common policy goals."

"We are not sure if the socialist, communist, democratic or even anarchist utopia is possible," admitted a host of the anarchist-supporting podcast "The Ex-Worker." "Rather, some insurrectionary anarchists believe that the meaning of being an anarchist lies in the struggle itself and what that struggle reveals."

Stockman hints that the far-left anarchists are not truly destroying American cities to declare that black lives matter or demand racial equality, but because they crave anarchy and their mission is to topple the status quo.

[Looks like a mob trying to attack a Goodwill store. They are demanding the "owner" donate the things/clothing to poor people. Isn't the purpose of Goodwill job training, and skill development for the handicapped, recovering and unskilled? Selling rehabbed donations is just a means to that end as well as a fundraiser. I don't think charity to poor people is their mission.]

Photojournalist Jeremy Lee Quinn was furloughed this year, so he set out to document the protests and the riots that beset cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. You mean to tell me that all that looting and mayhem was not caused by the Proud Boys? I have read on the Net that hordes (their word) of Proud Boys were ravaging the land. And I knew it was true because it was on the Net. What next?

Police: Accidental shots fired at downtown Lafayette protest

by: KLFY Staff
Posted: Oct 3, 2020 / 05:09 PM CDT / Updated: Oct 3, 2020 / 09:26 PM CDT

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) After multiple people who are in attendance at the downtown rally and protest reported hearing shots fired, KLFY has confirmed with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office that a protest attendee, not associated with NFAC, had an accidental discharge of a handgun.
“No one hit, and no injuries were reported, Public Information Officer John Mowell said in a social media post.
26-year-old Terrance Jones of Lafayette has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm at a parade or demonstration, 3-cts possession of a firearm, one count simple escape, 1-ct. illegal use of weapons and 4 counts fugitive, booking records show.

Mowell said the shot was fired at Parc Sans Souci.
“The protest has been peaceful for the most part with only one person arrested so far,” State Police said.
NFAC, a black militia group based out of Atlanta, is in town following the police shooting death of Tryeford Pellerin.
The commander of the NFAC, John Jay Fitzgerald Johnson, stated another reason his men are in Lafayette is to get a public apology from Congressman Higgins who posted on Facebook and warned an armed presence would be a “one way ticket” and he’d “drop any 10” where they stand.
