HEALTH RESULTS OF 4 MONTHS TAKING DIATOMACEOUS EARTH (From April 2013)

I take D3+K2, Magnesium, a powerful multi-vitamin (Ola Loa) and Super Bio-curcumin right before I leave to go to work in the mornings... May even begin taking Boron later...

Can I add this DE stuff to my morning regime without taking away the benefits from the other stuff I'm presently taking?

Hubby's naturopathic MD agrees that its good to take. However, he recommended waiting an hour between the DE and other supplements.

NOTHING works the same on everyone. I know quite a few people who have what they call "idiosyncratic reactions" to common pharmaceutical drugs... something that works one way on 95% of the population works the exact opposite on them!

Are you supplementing iodine? Unless you consume a lot of seafood, it's likely you aren't getting sufficient iodine in your diet. Topical application is generally safest, and also gives a good indication of just how deficient you are... if a 2" square spot swabbed onto your arm disappears fairly quickly, you need the stuff.

When I first started using 2% iodine topically, all hints of color would vanish from my skin within 15 minutes. After six months, it took several hours. Interestingly, while all my thyroid blood tests were always "normal", an ultrasound showed "severe inflammation" in my thyroid. One done 2 years after I started supplementing with topical iodine showed no inflammation at all... FWIW

Hey Summerthyme - something I have been meaning to ask you, or others - though, a bit off-topic from the thread, but related in the following sense - HOW we might administer supplements non-orally, for a better/useful effect than when they pass through the gastrointestinal tract; perhaps being reduced in effectiveness because this path of administration can cause unneeded counter-effects with gut bacteria, or uncomfortable or health-threatening auto-immune reactions versus the intended and ultimately helpful supplemental dosages getting through all of the potential gut or gut-induced roadblocks to actually produce positive healthful benefits?

What about the use of DMSO or other carrier agents, to aid in absorption of supplemental/allopathic substances/medications, bypassing the gut activities entirely? Along this same line, what about certain supplements/medications being prepared in a form that can be dissolved under the tongue, to be naturally absorbed in the mouth areas?

I am aware that their can be significant dangers in this approach - what can you/others tell us, or point us to, that might address this question at a beginner's level?

Interesting thinking. I've used DMSO for joint pain and use to slather it on the bottoms of my feet when I worked at Home Depot and my feet were killing me.

Thank you everybody!

I've thought about all the suggestions and since I get up an hour before I go to work, I think I will take the DE upon my feet hitting the floor and then take the other stuff right before I leave for work (an hour later)... Going to start with a 1/4 teaspoon and go from there...

Again, thanks everybody!!!

Yes - it will - similar to running a very fine sand in your blender.

I simply drop a tablespoon ( I've been taking it for several years - 1 tablespoon may be too much, for a beginner - better to work your way up to see how your system tolerates and adjusts to the addition of DE to your diet) into 8 ounces of water and stir, vigorously - drink fast, because the DE will settle out of the water quickly - no real taste, per se - sensation is like drinking sandy water, but it is over with, quickly - some may remain in the mouth, but doesn't really bother as one swallows it naturally with the saliva, IMHO. Could use 8 ounces of your favorite drink, I suppose - fruit juice, etc., but running it through a blender will produce no mixing benefit, as DE's tendency is to settle out to the bottom, once stirring/mixing has stopped.

Honestly, I haven't studied this much. I have read that if, for example, you apply DMSO to your arm, and then tape a Valium tablet on the spot, it will quickly absorb almost straight into the bloodstream. Haven't tried that, personally!

I'd be concerned that anything that might cause an auto-immune reaction taken orally isn't likely to be any better by any other route.

SOME supplements (Vitamin B12 comes to mind) are already sold in a sublingual form. The L-Theanine amino acid I take for stress on occasion says to dissolve it under your tongue, as opposed to chewing them.

Often, just taking something with food (preferably something rather slow digesting, with a balance of fat and protein) seems to work in terms of not upsetting the stomach or the gut bacteria as badly. Probiotics and fermented foods are vital for anyone taking anything (whether supplements or antibiotics or whatever) known to disturb the gut bacteria balance.

It's been a tough year on DE here this year. With it raining almost every day it gets washed off the veggies regularly. I'm going to have to order some more pretty soon.

I took an empty family size peanut butter jar (plastic) that was well washed and dried, and drilled a pattern of holes in the lid with a 5/32 drill bit. Used like a big salt shaker, it works well to distribute dust on top of plants, hold the leaves over to get it on the bottom sides.

I started taking 11 days ago and the only thing I've noticed is two boils that came up suddenly, one on the 3rd day and another on the 9th day. I never get boils. I've only been taking 1/4 tsp in the mornings because I was afraid of having side effects at work. I'm wondering now if I shouldn't up the dose a little.

That to me, sound's like toxins being released from your body.

The skin is the largest organs in the body for elimination of toxins.

So I'm thinking that this is what happened.

I've had a few breakouts but not like huge beezers (teen word for boils. Lol!), just a few weird breakouts but it soon quit. V

I took DE for years and stopped, for 2 yrs. I just started up again& all I can say is boy do I feel better. Besides the parasites be gone, I feel so much more energic and the darn bugs are coming out.

My Doctor that started me on that, Dr. Mark Star, in Phoenix, that some of you go to had me start with 1 t. Morning and night & to mix with a spoon in just enough water to mix to swallow it all down. Maybe 3 oz. So I not sure why you are starting out slowly or why you are using a blender.

This is what is happening to me. I started for the first time two days ago and yesterday a boil showed up. Then late two more small bumps, and I don't get these. I feel exhausted yet am not sleeping well.

I'm going to power through it, after all I've read on this thread and Google.

Flipper what strength of the lithium orotate should I take a quarter of ? I also bought a bottle of it with my order of the DE and its 120 mg. Would 1/4 of that be sufficient?

I also do have melatonin here, but the bottle says 1 mg, not enough I guess to help much.

I have been taking 1 teaspoon of the DE in about 4 ounces of water after my first coffee. Then a second coffee and I am drinking water the rest of the day, lots of water.

Thanks

I have the lithium orotate I put in the link, in case you missed it: https://www.swansonvitamins.com/advanced-research-nutrient-carriers-lithium-orotate-200-tabs

It is 120mg like you have, so just a quarter tablet of that.

Melatonin is relatively cheap, I like the chewables, they come in 5mg tablets, I pop 2 or 3 of those along with the lithium and you can probably get them at Walmart or Grocery Outlet. I use to think melatonin didn't work, I'd take 3 mg with no success, then I decided to take more and realized I just need a lot of it to help me sleep.
Good luck!

Thanks I'll get a higher dose when I get to Walmart.

If 1/4 pill is good on the lithium, that bottle will last me over two years or maybe three ! Mine has 200 tablets also.

Off to look at what you linked, thank you again. I just went to the link, and that is the same brand I bought.

I have found that taking the DE mixed into Greek Yoghurt is the easiest way of taking it, with the added advantage of the cultures in the Yoghurt being also beneficial to/for your system.

We are about 2 weeks into using DE. I am still at a 1/2 teaspoon, the wife at a full teaspoon per day. I have less chronic fatigue/ low energy days now and am very happy about that...

I typed in the search looking for info on gallbladder symptoms and this thread came up at the top. Wow 58 pages! I've never had gallbladder problems before but shortly after getting up today I realized that I had this achy pain in the upper right side of my abdomen just under the bottom of my rib cage. It's not gone away (but hasn't got worse either) so I did the search here looking for any info y'all might have posted. I'm taking it that DE would be good to take for it since it's apparently embedded in this thread somewhere? Lol

Also eat a very bland diet and no high fat food.
If you do that it will give your gallbladder a break and let it rest and heal a little.

Due you take any kind of statin drugs .
I f you do stop them now as a side effect of them is messing up your gallbladder, statin is why I know longer have my gallbladder.
Statin drugs is also responsible for my pancerase attack that put me in the hospital for a month and almost killed me.

well the fu///ng drug companys don't tell you about all thoses side affects do they.

I need to sneak some DE into my DHs diet. As for statins, his doctor prescribed them, but he only took them for about 2 weeks before I convinced him not to take them.

Most doctors aren't prescribing statins anymore due to their extremely bad side effects. I'm glad you got your hubby off statins, there are natural things that do what statins claim to do, with no side effects. Dr. Joel Wallach has an immense amount of info on such issues as does Dr. Eric Berg, you can access their videos on youtube for suggestions on how to help the body heal by using healthy substances.

Straightstreet, you need ox bile. You can order it directly or buy it in a digestive enzyme (I did both), I use Now vitamins Super Enzymes digestive enzyme, take it with each meal. Your gall bladder will often act up when you have an especially fat laden meal, I've had issues from just having cream in my coffee.

Dr. Berg on the gallbladder (he has several videos on the topic):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQhqjoUinUA

Dr. Berg on what to do if you no longer have a gall bladder:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9LvfK1XSwM

Dr. Berg on hidden gall bladder symptoms:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T33y39bqHI

My dad had a 3 day gall bladder attack, it came out of the blue, he was in immense pain, and by the time I found out about it, and ran his symptoms my sister had whisked him off to the hospital where they proclaimed it a heart attack. Yep, the morons at the local hospital claimed he had a 3 day heart attack. He had all the symptoms of a gall bladder attack but heart attack pays more so heart attack it was, and they eventually killed him with their misdiagnosis, operations and pharmaceuticals all the while exclaiming that they didn't know how he could have had a heart attack because his numbers were all "so good". Yeah, you need to know so much more than the doctors these days, lucky for us we have the internet so we can.

No I don't take statins or eat a high fat diet. We mainly eat from our garden/green house and I really don't care for meat so I mostly shy away from that too. Thank you Flipper for your reply and links. I'll have a look right now.

Most definitely. And then they note in their chart that you are "non-compliant".

And if you are "compliant" (in word), then the data accumulated into the treatment system is false, and the marketing mavens at big Pharma will tout how (falsely) "successful" their particular drug is in treating some ailment, or another.

Completely bogus.

I have been on DE for about 1 mo. I have noticed more dreams and better sleep. For me the biggest change has been a change in my lower bowls. I had not been able to get very far from a rest room for over 1 year. It started when I had to take antibiotics for a case of walking Pneumonia at Christmas a year and a half ago. I would have to go to the bathroom before I could go to town and I was only good for about 1 1/2 hr before I needed to go again. I can now go for 5 or 6 hours and there is a noticeable lack of mucus when I go. This one change has been a game changer for me. I am on a teaspoon full in the morning (started at 1/2 tsp for about 2 weeks) I have edema in my legs and am taking a water pill for that but my blood pressure had been fluctuating a bunch, I think based on how much water I was retaining, My weight would go up and down 2 to 4 lbs day to day and the blood pressure would follow the weight. I had been in the high 140's to low 150's and am now down to low 140's but my weight is also down so can not say what is the cause at this time. I do have some skin spots on my face and scalp that seem to be improving but I will have to wait longer before I can say this is a change or not. Reason I started was I had lyme disease 12 years ago and started a reoccurance about 2 months ago. I am on doxy for that as well but I was hoping that the DE would kill off the critters. When I first started taking DE my shoulder, the center of my lime 12 years ago and now, hurt much worse for a few days. I remember when the lime started getting killed 12 years ago it hurt much worse as they released a toxin when they died. I started on the Doxy about 1 week after the start of DE. I hope they are dieing and will stay away this time. LV thanks for starting this thread. I am on page 40 now as I seem to be able to read about 5 pages at a time. That has been my experience to date and I will add to my story when I have been on the DE longer.

Other option is to get a blender bottle at Walmart. It is a bottle with a little whisk in it. I use 12 oz unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of protein powder ( I use Yes from Yoli) and 1 tablespoon of DE. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of cinnamon. Cannot even taste the DE. Give bottle a shake before each drink and the whisk blends everything right up.

I have lost 30 pounds since May 1st using Yoli products and following the high protein, complex carbs, and natural sweeteners eating. The DE is hopefully giving me addititional benefits, but I started the DE after the Yoli so don't know whether it is doing anything or not.

Anyone have any comments on DE vs Bentonite clay? I searched on the clay and this thread came up, but I'm not going to read through all these pages. I have been taking DE off and on since this thread started. Still have brain fog - never did go away. Heard about Bentonite clay and am trying that for a bit. Brain fog is worse, which I'm assuming is a herx reaction. I was thinking of alternating back and forth between DE and the clay - maybe a month or two each.

Decided to revive this thread by admitting I've fallen away from ingesting my DE. I still brush my teeth with it and my gums are fabulous.

I'm almost out so I bought a 50# bag tonight, a shake applicator bottle so I can do the yard and inside the house because I think I have something biting me.

If it's mites, then you might want to forgo the DE to sprinkle around inside the house...but instead get something called Kleen Green. You can spray everything with that including the carpet, furniture, your bed, yourself, put it in the wash. Spray the pets with it. (The pets are probably what brings it in the house.)

For outside, I've used a combination of DE and yellow Sulphur. I have chickens so I got bird mites from them. But it's working. I had to use it on the ground by them where they lay, take dirt baths, etc. On their nests and in their coops and boxes. I've heard that farmers use the Sulphur to chase the mites off their property. It doesn't hurt pets either. But in combo with DE works well.

The reason i wouldn't use the DE in the house is because of the chance of inhaling it too much.
