Survey Claims 56% of Young People People Believe 'Humanity Is Doomed'
Katherine Hamilton4-5 minutes 9/15/2021
A growing number of young people are combating “climate anxiety,” and a majority think “humanity is doomed,” according to a study published in Lancet Planetary Health Tuesday.

According to the study, which authors claim is the most comprehensive study in the world analyzing “young people’s fear about the climate crisis,” 45 percent of 16-25-year-olds said, “climate-related anxiety and distress is affecting their daily lives and ability to function normally,” Vice News reported of the study.

Approximately 10,000 young people were surveyed across ten countries, 60 percent of which said national governments are “betraying” the present and future generations by not trying hard enough to save the planet.

Fifty-six percent of people surveyed said they agreed with the statement that “humanity is doomed, “and 75 percent said the future is frightening.

Here is the percentage broken down by country of young people who believe “humanity is doomed.” (Notably, some of the world’s top polluters, like Russia and China, were not included in the list.) :
  • Australia: 50 percent
  • Brazil: 67 percent
  • France: 48 percent
  • Finland: 43 percent
  • India: 74 percent
  • Nigeria: 42 percent
  • Phillippines: 73 percent
  • Portugal: 62 percent
  • UK: 51 percent
  • US: 46 percent
“Our children’s anxiety is a completely rational reaction given the inadequate responses to climate change they are seeing from governments. What more do governments need to hear to take action?”said Caroline Hickman, co-lead author on the study from the University of Bath.

Both the UK and the U.S. have very little faith in their governments compared to other countries to fend off the supposed ravages of climate change.

“Only 28 percent and 21 percent of young Brits and Americans thought the government could be trusted when it came to the planet – whereas 51 percent of Indians had faith in the authorities,” according to the report.

Co-founders of Climate Psychologists Megan Kennedy-Woodward and Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams developed a list of recognizable climate anxiety symptoms — anxiety which the report’s authors called an “inescapable stressor.”

“Climate and eco anxiety blanket over a wide range of emotions that the climate crisis can provoke,” Kennedy-Woodward said. “Guilt, anger, grief, despair.”

“It can result in social withdrawal, sleep or concentration issues, to name a few. Clinically speaking, for younger children we aim to support parents to have meaningful and productive conversations with their kids,” Kennedy-Williams added.

In order to soothe apocalyptic fear, Kennedy Woodward suggested young people “lean into self-care” and “take social media and climate information breaks,” Vice reported.

According to the report, the authors of the study hope world governments realize how fragile climate change has made young people feel “rather than expecting young people to handle it alone.” The study’s authors wrote:
Public discourse should encourage the expression of feelings that 60 percent of young people in this survey have described as being ignored or dismissed. We argue that the failure of governments to adequately reduce, prevent, or mitigate climate change is contributing to psychological distress, moral injury and injustice.
As far as public discourse goes, leftist political figures in the U.S. have dialed up the fear around climate change.

Devout socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) once said: “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” She later said she was exaggerating the timeline to make a point. She recently defended flying on a plane to New York because she had a “very tight schedule.”

In early September, the Biden administration’s Special Presidential Envoy for Climate ,John Kerry, warned the world is “doomed” unless 20 countries take climate action. Notably, his family jet has flown at least 16 times this year, contributing to the very emission problem he preaches about eradicating.

Un-spun
Everyone can sense something big and terrible is coming, but they don't know what it is. Governments are taking advantage, and using the anxiety to guilt-trip their people into a power grab.

I wish more people were familiar with Ben Davidson, of Suspicious Observers. Currently reading Jorjani's new book, Closer Encounters. That would also help clear a few things up, and give some constructive direction.

Its no wonder that young people are anxious, what with all the crapola going on and in the news.

God is still good all the time

Morons. Being acolytes of Climate Religion will get them nowhere.

Their energy would be better spent training for a good job and avoiding or paying off student loans.
Life might look a lot better to them.

So how many of these young people are walking to wherever they want to go?

And not eating sugar (energy intensive food from beet sugars)

And burning rush lights, betty lamps anything not fossil based.

And wearing clothes made of hemp & natural fibers.

Hemp is an attraction methinks - but not for it's carbon neutral aspects.

I'm not suffering any anxiety about climate change(or any of the political crap going on these days) but I am glad that I'm old and won't be around to see how the long version of this story plays out.

Only worry about what you can control!
You do realize that all the predictions of doom, and blaming human activities for them, is utter hogwash?
Uhhh... Yeah, but it doesn't mean they aren't going to pop the balloon we are all riding in. If they destroy everything, you're still going to be affected, prepare early, avoid the rush!

Humanity has ALWAYS been doomed. Thanks to Adam and Eve. It's not the threat, there are always threats, it's what YOU DO to mitigate that threat....that challenge. The issue is that too many people expect "others" to do for them and make decisions for them and that's where we really get into the doomed mindset.

My generation grew up under THE BOMB! Doing duck and cover in school. Then it was War, then the recession, then oil, etc., etc., etc., it's always something.

The only way to get out of that defeatist mindset is to DO FOR YOURSELF!! Take charge of your life as much as possible. Make the changes that need to be made and accept responsibility for your own actions and needs as much as possible. And for crying out loud QUIT WHINING!!

We have it sooooo much better than the multitudes of generations that came before us. Be thankful for what you have and what you can do to take care of yourself and the gifts that the Lord has given us. Be at peace because HE IS IN CHARGE!! Despite all we see and hear........HE IS IN CHARGE!!

Neither here nor there.
Brainwashed by climate change propaganda since kindergarten... why wouldn't they be terrified?

Summerthyme

Couple this with not being able to play outside, like we did as kids, for a myriad of reasons and yeah you get brainwashed kids. Locally there's been a climate change commercial running non-stop for months now featuring children screaming about us adults being at fault for not stopping climate change.

From my point of view I have been warned that climate change was going to destroy this plane in 10 years. Three times and yet here we are. I may be wrong but it sounds like someone was making up stories or just plain lying.

Give it 10 years and the under 30 population will be planning euthanasia for everyone over 60.

"Wild in the Streets". Movie from 1968.
Synopsis:

""Max Frost, a 22-year old rock star millionaire, joins causes with a California politician to get the vote for 14-year old. (Hence the song "14 or fight!") He continues his master plan by helping elect one of his groupies to the senate. Max and his cohorts resort to trickery to get congress to lower the minimum age requirements for higher office, and he's on his way to the Oval Office with his youth-controlled police state agenda.

Is that the one with Shelly Winters where every one over 30 was put in concentration camps on acid.

Ending was good.

Climate change. Give me a break, it's been bullshit since day 1 and it continues to be bullshit. Young people are ****in retards, hopefully all that anxiety will thin that demographic out deeply.
