I hadn't been to the store to shop for weeks. The prices have gone up a whole lot. Walmart rotisserie chicken today was $7 instead of the normal $5.

I went in for a bone in turkey breast and they had none nor did they have any whole turkeys. Everything was pretty lean as far as empty shelves. They did have a few bags of sugar on the shelves but not many. Aldi had no sugar.

The small cheap frozen pizza in Aldi that used to be $2.19 are now $3.29. So inflation is way over the lies of 9-10%.

Hardly any bread at Walmart. I took the last loaf of the kind I like. Bacon was completely wiped out at Walmart. There was some turkey bacon, but no good stuff. I only buy Wrights so I went to another grocery store and bought it there, but at premium price. It is bacon and tomato sandwich season so must have bacon.

Jimmy Dean sausage is now almost $5.

From the looks of all the stores we are in big trouble...they are really empty.

I listen to SouthernPrepper1 and every day he reports on shortages and price increases based upon emails that people send him, yet this woman from Living On A Dime - whom I normally like - has been making videos denying that there are any shortages and insisting and there's plenty in the stores. Sure, some places have very few shortages, such as where I (and apparently she) live, but things are very bad in other areas. IMHO she's doing more harm than good videos like this one, because she's lulling people into a sense of complacency.

Ordered Premain (Hormone Replacement Therapy) last week, Walgreen’s did not have in stock. This week they wanted $114 (medicare/tricare) for it. Redirected prescription to Express Scripts, can’t fill until early OCTOBER! Also ordered pain meds that you put in your cheek to dissolve. Again, Walgreen’s did not have it in.
This is going to make for a very grumpy grandma in September.

Maybe people have figured out that name brand stuff is not better than store brands, just more expensive. Got to cover their advertising budget that tells us how wonderful their products are. That said, I really do like Dawn better than other dishwashing liquids but save it for when the dishes are especially greasy.
I get Dawn and dilute 80%water to 20% dawn and still does great

our dinky little walmart had alot of empty shelves today...and every item I bought had gone up in price from 2 weeks ago..

every item was at least $.50-$1.00 more than last time.

So even if I didn't really need something, I got it any way.

There was no coffee on their shelves.

None.

Was in my local Walmart they had 1 pound canned hams that had expiration dates of 2027 they were $3 and change but for 5 years I thought they were worth it.
Those are very nice for putting in with a big pot of beans; chopped fine and use to make ham salad for sandwiches or a spread for crackers; chopped fine and used to make ham loaf/ham patties. Very versatile.

I do not deny that there are alot of shortages, but where I live -at the intersection of I-40 and I-55, there are not really any shortages yet. Just really high prices.

Of course, living right there where so much truck, train and airplane shipping meets means that we will be among the LAST to see the true shortages.

I buy the 90 oz jugs of Dawn dishwash at Sam's. I take a regular dishwash bottle, once it's empty, and mix dishwash from the jug with water in the bottle. It works great. My ratio of water to dishwash is a bit different than yours. Whatever works for you, though. We have very hard water. It takes me over a year to use up one of those 90 oz jugs by diluting it this way. Plus, the large jugs are easier to store than 50 small bottles.

I wash all my dishes by hand, so I use a lot of dishwash.

I was in Aldi today. Second time this week and they had no sugar. No empty pallet, just an empty space.

Also no dehydrated onion soup mix or a place for it or a sign for it. In fact a lot of signs were pulled in that area of soup and the canned meat. They had some of their non food China crap sitting on the shelf so the shelf wouldn't be bare.

No juice, very little milk....don't buy it, but did notice it was empty. Frozen meat and veggies were the normal almost empty that they have been for months.

Also noticed they only had one case of their instant mashed potatoes on the shelf. I took 2 boxes to add to my stash and that only left 8 boxes.

Also ran into Walmart for another big bale of paper towels.
I see a lot more people wearing masks than I did a month or so ago. I doubt it is because of monkey pox because everyone I have mentioned it to have no idea it exists. Probably has to do with Biden having it and all the play up by the MSM.

I give up.
I didn't go food shopping today, but did have to get some stuff from CVS. Now look, I know inflation is rampant, but this is beyond what I ever expected -- nail polish between $10 & $15 a bottle depending on brand !!! You gotta be kidding me. All I wanted was a little bottle of sheer pink. Outrageous. Sheesh. I am not paying that. I'll see if Wegmans or Wallyworld has it cheaper.

Yesterday at curbside, parts of 2 interesting orders going into other vehicles. They included a "large" amount of mason jars, 99% alcohol, calamine lotion, and what looked like were 4x4 gauze pads & very large bandages (but did not get the best look). I can guess what was on their mind. None of the stuff was bagged, it was all in the boxes that the items are displayed in on the shelf.

Interestingly enough, the only food price that I've seen go down in the last 2 months (that I pay attention to), is Great Value luncheon meat (SPAM knock-off). In some, not all, Walmarts it went from $2.28 to $1.98. Very weird considering everything else going up.

Dollar Tree! They usually have a good selection of colors.

Yesterday, I bought a trimmed Boston Butt - about 8 pounds - for $1.99 a pound.

It was a regional chain grocery store (Food Giant) in suburban Memphis.

The butcher sliced it for me for free.

I love shopping at our local Food Giant. Most of the time, their selection of food items is much larger that even Walmart's. Their meat is a lot better quality, too. Sometimes, much cheaper. Will be going by there,e today.

Barry, does your local Food Giant offer a discount to seniors on all grocery items? Our local one doesn't, but the Food Giant in Mom's small town does.

Pass it forward...
I went to our only in-town grocery store - Albertsons - today at 6:00 AM when they opened. I do this as fewer shoppers means fewer germs, and today was the first Thursday of the month - "Senior Discount Day" - 10 percent off. As is the new norm, there were gaps on the shelves; Albertsons own brand-name goods are largely absent, as they have been for months. On arriving home, I glanced over the printed receipt and found several items "rang up" at higher prices than were displayed for them on the shelves. $2.89/dozen large eggs rang up at $3.19, etc. We have our own name for Albertsons: "Squandersons".

Try going to a compounding pharmacy or a mom and pop place. Independently owned. They will usually work to get what you need. Call them with your list first. You DO NOT want to withdraw from these things. You’ll be more than grumpy. Just call around, but leave CVS, Walgreens and Walmart off the list. I have a friend on pain management and she was calling the larger stores for DAYS and MILES away from her. Finally found a compounding/mom & pop locally owned down the street who could fill it. I don’t like large pharmacies AT ALL. Mainly because their corporate policies and procedures prevent them from doing a LOT of things we have come to expect from the service oriented pharmacies of old. They are also too busy. EASY to make a mistake in that environment.

Yep; and mistakes, SERIOUS mistakes are made...

Finally got to my fav thrift store. OMG, I did so good, and the prices weren't up. I spent $60 on myself.

For that I got:

5 really nice long-sleeved blouses, one of them silk, one rayon, one cotton and the other two poly/mix, but pretty.

1 Calvin Klein long-sleeve cardigan, black, with pockets, looks new but the tag wasn't on it.

2 light-weight fall jackets, one sand-colored, the other darkish brown.

1 Heavy-duty-ish wintery jacket, in mulberry. I love it, it's kind of different.

Then I spent $12 on a winter hoodie for my son, it's nice and fresh-looking. He likes it.

Think I did good?
