Walmart has a limit of 2-30 packs of Chinett Platters. 5.98. Their affiliate had the 100 pack for 29 something.
I was getting the 100 pack on Amazon shipped from Sam's Club for 21.00. But now the prices are insane there. So I went ahead and ordered the 2-pack plus 2 of the 100.
They are a neccessity for me as they hold hot meals and are lighter weight than dishes.. I can no longer sit comfortably at the table so eat in front of the TV. Anyway that is a big price increase and looks like one of those phony shortages where people buy up the cheap supplies and resell them.

I haven't priced the Chinett plates at Sam's, lately. I always wait for them to go on sale there, and stock up then. Those are the only brand I use.

Have you thought about using plastic plates? They’re lighter than China and you wouldn’t have to worry about keeping Chinet stocked up.

I use cheap paper plates with paper plate holders sometimes.

My Family Dollar in South Texas used to carry at least five different flavors of Bigelow tea bags. Now, all they have is Lemon Zinger. Also their Lipton boxes of 100 tea bags are the same size they have always been. The store brand box of 100 tea bags is one third smaller (but went from $1 to $2.50). Shrinkflation strikes again.

You know that is a really good idea! I used to have some of those Melamine dishes I think they were called a long time ago. I will look at Walmart and Amazon and see what they have. Thanks!

Those Bigelow teas made the nicest low cost gift.

I went and picked up $65.00 worth of almost nothing today at Walmart.

What stood out to me was this, I was getting hot dogs and we like Ball Park beef. Normally I get the bun size, and when I picked them up and checked the date, they had expired on July 11, 2022. Almost two weeks ago.

Obviously I left them.

I add a can or two of tuna, some chopped grapes, some applesauce (or chopped apples), some chopped onion, some chopped fresh bell pepper, some chopped celery, some garlic salt, and a healthy dollop or two of Hellmann’s mayonnaise to my chopped boiled eggs, to make a tuna-egg salad.

If I have some, fried bacon crumbles are a great addition to that recipe.

If you haven't tried it 2 hot dogs, sliced in "coins" thinly ( not too thin,) and first browned in butter, then add 4-6 scrambled eggs and cook together, is a real treat! (or 2 eggs with one hot dog) Serve with Quaker instant cheese grits...mmm. good.

My mom called that "goo-goos and eggs"!
It is highly recommended to slice hot dogs into half-coins. A full coin is basically the perfect diameter to accidentally choke on.

Saved, to glorify God.
I'm looking for a good egg salad recipe. My hens lay 3 eggs a day and they are stacking up.
Make egg salad with finely chopped onions and sweet pickles, and mayo (or miracle whip) and a little CURRY POWDER.

I alwayd put a little curry powder in ny deviled eggs or egg salad. NOT MUCH, just enough to taste it. Drives people crazy trying to figure out whats in it. they LIKE IT , but cant figure out why.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
Is this still the thread about shortages????
The recent posts are slightly STRANGE!!!!
I went to my local Walmart for the first time in about a year.....I was AMAZED!!!

THERE WAS VERY LITTLE FOOD THERE!!??

There were holes everywhere!!! And the prices were INSANE!!!

Went to another store and bought a LOT of their mark downs.....
Center cut pork chops at $15.99 for center cut pork loin chops marked down to $4.80!!!!! Got 3 packages of that.......guess I'm not the ONLY one REFUSING to pay these INSANE OUT-RAGEOUS prices!!! Made out like a bandit on several other things too.....mostly meats and marked down fruits that are still good, just not PERFECT.

Overall, I was a bit fearful at all the "holes" I saw at each of the stores I went to. What I saw missing most was the high quality of vegetables l have been accustomed to......tiny little cabbages, wilted lettuce, and all over priced. Lots of holes in the pasta, crackers, dry goods type stuff. With my preps I am not pressured to buy at the ridiculous prices.....THANK GOD!!!

I don't think the prices are going to go down, ever, only upward as things get worse.

This isn't a good time to stop buying in hopes of the prices going back down, they won't. If you have the time to spend looking for sales and clearance, you can still get some decent deals. Nothing like a year ago, but it's still worth doing.

I just have NOWHERE to put anything else!!

I do plan on canning most of the stuff in my freezers, and that will be taken up by produce from the garden!!

You've got that right; the Bible said this would happen:

Rev 6:6
And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay.”

If you don't have a relationship with Jesus Christ, what are you waiting for? Only He can rescue you from the hell on Earth that's coming!

Keep in mind for holiday baking. Might want to Mylar bag some.

Almond forecast worsens, production expected to drop by 11%

California’s almond production for 2022 is expected to be 11% lower than last year. That’s according to the state almond forecast published this month by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. In 2021, California produced 2.92 billion meat pounds of almonds. This year the forecast calls for 2.6 billion. The 2022 forecast was revised downward from a more promising report in May. California’s top almond-growing counties are Fresno, Kern, Stanislaus, Merced and Madera.

That's because they destroyed whole groves due to water being cut off. Our tree has a good crop this year.

Related to buying food is growing your own food.

Even though I no longer have a garden (lost it in the divorce), I have decided to track down my favorite vegetable varieties for long term storage. I will vacuum pack the seeds and store them in my freezer.

Recently the Seed Savers had their annual convention. In the past this was a weekend long event, bringing people from all over.

Now they are using covid as an excuse to be a "virtual conference" and no longer having a person to person meetup.

There are a lot of personal power clashes going on this once great grassroots group. It had everyone from aging hippies to PhD's meeting about their plant passions. I remember the "spinach guy" to the "corn guy" each with vast amounts of experience.

The "co-founder" who forced a move to northeast Iowa so she could be closer to her parents and divorced her husband who was the real founder, never liked having the members show up.

I notice that one of the women on the board is a woke feminist, complete with her chosen pronouns.

So I would not be surprised to see this once great amateur group to go bust. I am planning on getting fresh seeds this fall while it's a still possible to get them.

Went into a Dollar General yesterday for a quick stop, fyi I am a former DG General Manager, the store temperature was extremely warm, the coolers were all sweating, I would suggest if you shop there, take an extra minute to check the food your purchasing for both dating and signs of excess warmth, check the frozen goods for built up frost on the package which is inconsistent temperature, and if see these signs, I wouldn't buy from their chillers, can't trust the temperature being maintained at a same degree.

Hmmm, wonder if this will affect food prices?

I can just see these aggressive interest rate increases tank the economy. Might take a month or two, but my gut says it's going to happen.

Oh, and a shortage that may not affect many, but it's a favorite of mine. Stores in the DMV seem to all have run out of Total Zero Red Bull in the 8 oz cans.

Yes it's an energy drink and no I'm not supposed to have them; but they're a treat I like once in a while. An 8 oz Total Zero (no sugar no carbs) Red Bull in a glass with tonic water and lots of ice-oooh it's Alfaman's "you've been a good boy" treat.

Can't find the stuff ANYWHERE. You can find the regular and the Sugar Free Red Bull in the 8 ounce cans, but not the Total Zero ones. It's apparently made in Switzerland; don't know if that has anything to do with it. It's irritating though.

I bought some of the Ivory lavender bodywash in a pump a year or so ago at Walmart. It was around $4. It's now $15.99. This is Walmart online, not a seller.
Ate your sure, it’s for only one bottle??

Maybe a misprint?
I only ask because I’ve bought that before and just can’t imagine it went 4$-15$!!!

I’ll check our places for you up here
