Speaking of work-arounds, I'd gotten two bites, from I don't know what, on my left elbow a couple weeks
ago which had promptly swelled up like marbles and then within hours went half way down my lower arm
and halfway up my upper arm also swelled up to where I could only bend my elbow about half the usual
motion. It was on the weekend and was going to do the call-in doctor routine to get antibiotics prescribed,
but instead decided to give it a day with my home remedy first; Dash of potassium iodide dissolved into
tablespoon of DMSO and wiped thin coating of it onto whole swollen limb every two hours, did that about
eight times first day. By next morning improvement could be seen, then after another day of doing same
treatment, it was well onto becoming back to normal. I use that KI dissolved in DMSO concoction on all
infections from toenail fungus to earaches, to good effect. I have stock of anti-biotics here, too, but will
try this first, if it looks reasonable to give it a shot.

For more about the anti-bacterial and anti-viral and anti-fungal properties of potassium iodide (KI) and
some links to more about DMSO, too, see...

My hubby has been making our hand sanitizer. 2/3 aloe vera gel to 1/3 Everclear or Golden Grain liquor, add a few drops of an essential oil for smell. Or, he uses half Corn huskers Lotion and half of the liquor. That one you have to shake every time you use it but your hands feel better.

Sorry to break it to you but that's not going to be very effective at all. At best that means its 30% alcohol and that's not nearly a high enough concentration to use as a sanitizer.

Put in another case lot order at the local market today. Peas, diced potatoes, pears and peaches. We'll see how this one goes.

Can I ask where do you get egg cartons from? I have 47 chickens plus the adult rooster. 32 are young and not laying yet but when they do, I think I will have a problem with too many eggs and not enough cartons.
Amazon or Murrary McMurrary whichever is cheapest at the time. + customer bring back returns.

Making my shopping list...have not been to the grocery in 2 weeks. It is always an adventure.

We want everything topped off before the weekend. Cases are creeping back up all over and our brilliant "gov-na" in Michigan is probably itching to lock us down again!

Just a side note, when I could not find chlorox wipes, I bought plain baby wipes and a bottle of 71%
or greater rubbing alcohol and made my own. Always try to have a back up plan.

Take Care All,
W. A.
I made my own like that, too. I also cut up cheap paper towels into squares for the same thing.

When I sold eggs, I asked the customer to bring their own cartons. If they forgot, they got their eggs in a brown paper bag. I'd buy those thick packs of school lunch bags and double them. Each held a dozen eggs just right.

One lady would bring a really cute little basket that would hold two dozen.

Ordered from Costco and Aldis. Aldis is out of almost everything with Instacart. I have no idea what they have in store. Aldis did have Sirloins at 7.99 lb. Costco Instacart has more but portions too large for 2 people. I buy water from them and there is no limit. Organic chickens were 14 bucks almost and limited to 2. Bought odds and ends, cashews ,walnuts, polish sausage.
I have better luck on canned goods from Amazon. I know you all will say yuck but I bought a case of Chef Boy Ar Dee
Spaghetti and Meatballs. My Uncle worked for them and brought home all the dents and missing labels. Nostalgia Also bought a goodly amount of different freeze dried food on Amazon.

I'm working up a Costco order online now. Odds and ends, mostly. Two days ago I got an alert from Honeyville Grain that their freeze-dried peaches were back in stock. I couldn't decide how many #10 cans to get, they're great mixed with plain yogurt, and yesterday, one day later, they were already sold out again.

It does appear we're back in the thick of challenging shopping.

Well thanks to the heads up about distilled water in this thread OC went to the store and bought me two more gallons, he said there wasn't much in stock. I have enough for my CPAP machine now to last through September. I'll keep the bottles the neighbors have a water filtration system that's actually approved for use with CPAP machines.
You understand where Im coming from …..... best of luck to you

My water distiller went kaput today so bought one on Amazon. 429 I think it was. Waterwise brand. This is the third one I've bought. Cheaper than on the company's website. If anyone gets one buy the extra water container.

Rubbing alcohol and peroxide are back on the list. I did a large buy of laundry soap, shampoo (plus have shampoo bars), Dawn, and Clorox back in February.

Baking soda, tea tree oil, white vinegar, and alcohol can be used for various homemade cleaners (house and body) but you have to have those items in the first place.

With this virus, I just think it's prudent to keep bleach on hand. I've been using more homemade cleaners, but I like to wipe down the doorknobs and kitchen surfaces (and bathroom) at the end of errand day.

Two important points from my trip to Bryan/College Station today:

I was at HEB and a Walgreen's today. The HEB was busier than an 'average' day there mid-morning. The area now has a mask requirement in public, and I only saw two folks that were not wearing masks. This store actually had shelf space for disposable masks, although they were sold out. There were a few boxes of gloves and surprisingly a good amount of hand sanitizer in 8 oz bottles, although by the bare space it was obvious it's being shopped heavily. Once again, paper products are in short supply although there were some options. I didn't look at many aisles, I was focused on getting in and getting out. All sports drinks (Gatorade, Propel, etc.) were very low. Household cleaners almost wiped out. Perhaps most noticeably was that the bulk of shoppers I saw were not there for just a few things, they were shopping heavily with carts a good half+ full (and they were still shopping).

I was also on I45 Between Fairfield and Huntsville for several hours today (basically between Dallas and Houston for those not familiar with the area), once in the morning and once in the afternoon. All traffic was noticeably down from the last month or so, it very much was like when Covid hit hard and folks were staying home. More surprising was that the 18-wheeler truck traffic was exceptionally low. The last month we've seen very large numbers of 18-wheelers both northbound and southbound, along with most rest stops full. Not today. It was spotty, at best. My concern with the lower semi traffic is that goods may not be moving much...again...

Don't wait long at all if you have items you need to get ahead on.

Oh My Gosh! My mom just called, knowing that I was doing my shopping for groceries tomorrow. She went today. I always buy Wright's Hickory Smoked bacon in 1.5 lb packages. Price has been around $8 per package. Today, according to Mom, it has gone up to $14+ for the same size package! I'll be marking bacon off my list, and buy something as a substitute, like more bologna! I've eaten a lot of fried bologna for breakfast with eggs, grits, and biscuits. It's not bad.

Frozen peas are what I see disappearing! I love frozen peas and now grab two giant bags when they’re there, but they seem to go first for some reason....guess I’m not the only one wanting them.
I opened a can of freeze dried peas the other day and they tasted pretty darn good. Dont know if there are shortages in them also. I have had mine for years.

I did a run this morning to a Dollar General out here in the country. They are out of hand sanitizer (not surprised), TP and paper towels very low, most cleaning items very low.

There was a guy starting to load up his car when I pulled in. He had two separate shopping carts, one filled with paper towels, one filled with laundry detergent. Kinda wondered if he was buying for a shelter or food bank or something.
Dollar General. Where I live, it smells worse than Harbor Freight. The chinese offgassing of stuff is just horrendous. It makes me sick to go into Dollar General. And one thing I have noticed is that their prices are not all the cheap either. I just read an article that said head to head, Walmart was 6% cheaper than Dollar General on most grocery items. NOW, I compared coffee K cups the other day at a dollar general, when I went looking for paint rollers. They were 1 dollar more expensive for 10 cups than 12 at Kroger. WOW! More expensive and you get less. Of course, I need to stop drinking coffee. It's getting outrageously expensive. My family are mostly mormons...so they'd love me to stop.

Bought the very last little canned ham on the shelf today at the local Dollar General. I usually get a couple every time I go by. Got some Wolf Brand chili (no beans) since it was there. Some $1 spaghetti sauce and some store brand canned chicken for the pantry. A couple of cans of corned beef hash. Slim pickins' ....

You can't wrap a limb in moleskin. Sometimes, due to allergies, using tape or adhesives to cover an injury just isn't practical. And while "co-adhesive" wraps (vet wrap) work really well, with open wounds or even weepy skin issues, you need the absorbency of gauze type bandages.

The old type gauze wraps were woven with little stretch or "give" (think muslin fabric, but thinner), but they now sell knit type flexible stuff that conforms to contours and works really well. I go through all this stuff by the case.

And speaking of the "unavailability" issue, apparently cotton growing regions outside the US have been hit hard by locusts and weather issues... all cotton products are going to be affected.

Summerthyme
I'd buy that stuff all the time off eBay. Can't for the life of me, remember the name! Works great for holding bandages.

We get them on amazon by the case, the paper ones. I know they have a variety of sizes and materials. For me the nice thing is they live in the box which is easy to find a storage place for than a bunch of loose cartons.

Just went to Lowe's and the Clorox spray and Scrubbing Bubbles are almost out. I also received emails from Amazon that most of my subscribe and save items are delayed. The items are from Himalayan salt to hygiene to food items.

Just got bac from Kroger.

Frozen veg are still wiped out. Only broccoli and corn lol, wonder why?
My MD advised me that corn is not a vegetable; it's a grain and therefore should be avoided by diabetics.

And broccoli is still suffering from the bad rep it got from our late Prez George H.W. Bush, who refused to eat it.

I find it absolutely bizarre that Walmart’s auto centers are all closed. Took my car in to get a new battery and a couple of new tires, and it’s all shut down. All of the locations. Makes no sense.

I asked about the tire center at our local Walmart and was told that while they were still closed, there were two smaller towns close by that had reopened theirs. Might check others if you have any close by.

Double check your vitamin stash! I ordered several D3 gummies bottles from Target a few days ago, had no problem getting them. Family member just tried to order some from Amazon, they're out. I sent her the Target link (which said now only 3 available at nearest store, none for delivery. She was able to order them, hopefully they'll come through.

Checked Costco just a minute ago. They show them in stock, but when I tried to put them in my cart they came up as out of stock. Cripes.
