Politics aside, Target is my go-to for all commercial skin care items, small appliances, housewares, and small electronics Walmart never seems to have in stock. If you have a CVS or Walgreens in your area, that might be another possibility, but they are more expensive.

1984 is not fiction.
We went to Sam's club this morning at 8a.m. . Limits were back on for paper towels, toilet paper, and tissues to one package each. No 8 3/4 inch paper plates. Disinfectant wipes were Clorox only and way up in price. Our Dollar General has them for less, their own brand. Everything else seemed to be stocked pretty well.
My non-prepper friend was stocking up today because she's afraid of what might lay ahead. I've been trying to tell her for quite awhile be prepared.

Were they the jumbo sized cotton balls? I can find the small ones, but not the jumbo's at our Walmart. I like using the larger size better. I can't find them anywhere.

Yeah, they're the jumbo ones. I had walked ALL the way around HBA twice and given up, and they were on an end cap with the suntan lotion. Why? They used to be with the make up, then they moved them to the baby aisle, then they moved them to the feminine products aisle. I'd really like to kick their stockers sometimes.

Not a report on a shortage this time more a note for anyone who wants to increase their food supplies a bit

Kroger in the Atlanta area has progresso soup for 99 cents a can if you buy 8. Note you must buy in multiples of 8 for the 99 cent price. They also are running their a buck off buying 5 sale for other products. But the soup deal seemed, to me, to be the best prepping item on sale

Hopefully this will be nation wide at all the kroger family stores so you all can take advantage of the cheap soup price.

They are short on the normal end cap items and use that as filler.
A useful post (sorry, forget who) mentioned that if you start seeing water and other mundane items in end caps, they are having supply line issues, and use that as filler.

Yes stores are starting to hide short inventory. One if my jobs this week was to I start inventory reducers on pegs (little plastic pieces that hold pegged items pushed to the front) also cardboard back wall (see pix). Haven’t done this since the 2008 meltdown.

I did fairly large instacart order at Vons S. Ca. All normal items like milk, eggs, lettuce, hamburg, etc. The only out of stock item was white onions. The shortages were in natural dill pickles the kind with no food coloring. Had to get the small jars of Bubbies hugely expensive and they only had one jar of Vlasic natural dills.
So like the other person said you have to shop at a lot of stores to get what you want along with online stores.

I just wanted to say that when I shopped yesterday at my local Jewel (Albertson's) the ONE WAY aisle arrows were gone!

Oh, and the plexiglass in front of the cashiers was gone, too. Everyone was wearing masks.

The paper towels were a little low, but NO limits were posted!

Was at the Duluth (Hermantown) MN Sam's Club yesterday. It was probably the most stocked I've seen it! They had paper towel and toilet paper still on 1 per item per person limit, but there were a couple of extra pallets of them in the end aisles. Plus they had a pallet of Chlorox sani-wipes, at a limit of 1 per customer, of course. Plus canned veggies with regular labels (not the "I've never heard of that brand" labels) as well as cases of canned fruit. In the last few months, they've only had the boxes of fruit cups and I didn't want those. So I got canned peaches and mandarin oranges.

I had an overflowing cart and plan to do at least one more grocery run to fill in the gaps. Plus I've been helping my cousin stock up and trying to pick up extra for my dd and family who are not stocking up.

Walmart run today in Northern VA. Saw store brand spray disinfectant for the first time since March (although I had heard it was available sometimes). I got the last box of dishwasher detergent, and noticed that large sizes of clothes detergent were missing, but the whole aisle was full of medium-sized containers. On the opposite side, the section of Borax, washing soda, Fells Naptha soap, etc. was almost completely empty. Only one of each. This isn’t normally a large section, but the rest of the shelf wS mostly bare. Not sure what should have been there.
I wanted to pick up some more cheap flashlights and headlamps. We are a Scouting family and it seems someone is always misplacing theirs. Normally this is a fairly large section but today I had trouble finding it. Only a few items and some empty spaces.

Also wanted to replace and stock up on boot laces. They weren’t where they usually are so I asked for help. An employee directed me To a nearly empty rack with a couple of pink, sparkly, little girls’ shoe laces. I asked if there were more someplace else and she walked with me back to where they should have been which was only shoe polish and insoles.

I thought I would just get some paracord, but they only had florescent yellow and orange (DH says I should have gotten one of those).
End caps and stock placement has been interesting. Seasonal items, masks and hand sanitizer seem to be the preferred fillers at this store. While that might sound normal, they are often in different places which is kind of strange.

Generally most goods are there but never fully stocked. Some sections (canned goods, cleaning supplies, rice and beans) seem to be the most thin.

I did a truncated fall stock-up trip last week (planning a move raises hell with prepping!). In WalMart I bought the last two packages of little girls socks... the entire rack (at least 15 feet long and 8 feet tall) was completely empty. If this continues, I'm going to be very glad I sew... and stocked up on enough fabric to clothe a small village. There is a new baby due in January, and because they lost all their baby cloths when their house burned a year ago, I'm going to have to get busy making baby clothes!

Sorry that their house burned down but glad you can sew for the baby!

Yes, moving vs. prepping is a problem. When I moved to Iowa, I had a copy paper box full of Wasa crackers, peanut butter, tuna in envelopes, energy bars . . . you get the picture. I didn't try to move the bulk of my preps: I sold and donated them. I did that move with two relo cubes and what I could fit into my vehicle.

That was the right thing for me to do. I had far too much stuff! After that, I set better limits and have stayed clutter-free for the most part, while maintaining an organized pantry and enough emergency supplies to keep me safe, without filling up my living space.

We're doing a ton of decluttering, but I've been adamant that my food preps and sewing stuff (including hundreds of yards of fabric... quilt cotton, Polar fleece, silk, wool) are off limits. They WILL move with us! But we've been here 40 years... and will be moving (temporarily, I hope!) into a very tiny apartment. We've set up two high top 40 foot shipping containers, and are steadily moving all "non essential" (at least at the moment!) stuff into them, one trailer load at a time. Of course, I discovered today that while they did leave all my essential oils for my Ouch! Liniment, they took all the rest.. and my kitchen container of orange oil (that I use almost daily to remove labels, etc) has about a teaspoon left! Since I have two quarts of the stuff, buying another bottle is silly... But I need it! There's going to be a lot of that going on, I know...

We reorganised our basement storage in 2014, after we sold the dairy cows. At that time, we dumped any bad or questionable food (very little, thankfully) Every bucket was opened, the seal on the mylar bags was checked, and in a few cases where the vacuum hadn't held, the food itself was tested... then resealed. We built shelves to hold most of the LTS pails, and since we made them freestanding, they'll be coming with us.

If it were normal times, I'd be eating down our canned and frozen food, but with the limits on the number of cans you can buy, and the ongoing shortages, that's not happening, either! Interesting timing, for sure!

That's true! And you have more mouths to feed than I do.

Family in Midland Odessa area in Texas reporting shortage of lettuce in stores.
The lettuce here in CA hasn't been very fresh but nobody has been out of it yet. Still too hot to plant any leaf lettuce.
This is the first I heard of this. Thanks for the article Roadgeek.

The toilet paper stock ups have begun again here in lower Wisc. inventory was low yesterday. Noted also some spacing on shelf gaps was filled by laying out beef jerky bags flat side by side.

Hope in chains...
I noticed at my walmart a couple days ago, they had quite a few canned salmon, it was late before they closed, a bit thin at end of the day. It's cheaper there than it is at Safeway here. Going back and getting some more. I love the stuff.

Which store chain? NE WI Woodmans still has PT and TP to the rafters with no limits.

Sams Club has mostly brand name only...... pallets of it. But very little name brand.

Walmart is fugly, but has only looked good one or twice since March....

Our Dollar General re stocks and then gets decimated, it cycles. Woodies looked pretty good last time I was there, 2 wks ago. But they are heavy on that Panda brand and I am an exclusive Scott tissue mama and so that means two different stores

Today restocked at Menards on light bulbs and zip cable ties, both from China. I hope we can transition away from that dependency and bring production home.

Menards replaced their bulk Louana Peanut-Soy 'Southern deep frying blend" with this brand. I know some folks like a deep fried turkey for Thanksgving.

surprisingly Ace Hardware has it in stock in their grilling aisle. High temp, low smoke, great for fish fry all winter

Went to food lion yesterday (Virginia) and noticed gaps again. The prices are continuing to increase as well! Limits on lunch meat posted - I casually asked that cashier about the gaps and she mentioned that one of “their centers had a lot of sick people that got shut down so they are using a different warehouse from PA that now is servicing more stores and they just can’t get the product in.” She said “it’s better than in April though”.

Went to Publix (Fla) last night. The paper goods isle is back to normal. There were no napkins and Kleenex and the limit one sign is still up on those two items. The rest of the store was well stocked, tho I didnt see the stacked rice like I saw at Winn Dixie! LOL.

I'd like some help from those on this thread. I'm looking for some CFL lighbulbs that aren't Made in China. I'll accept Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Japan, or the United States, just not China. Anyone know of any?

Just got back from Fiesta in south Austin. Store is very well stocked. They had lettuce, but it was $1.69 a head, which my wife says is expensive. They did have it, however. Didn't check the paper aisle. I noticed a display by the register which was some strange brand of disinfectant wipes. The package said "Designed in USA" and "Made Responsibly in China". Okay.
