Description
After a nuclear explosion destroys most of the world's population, Australia is the only safe haven. But while one Aussie scientist (Bryan Brown) warns that a giant wave of radiation is fast approaching with only two months until the mass hits land, one of his rivals disagrees. Now, an American captain (Armand Assante) must lead a mission to find out which hypothesis is correct before it's too late to relocate the blast's survivors.

Is this worth renting?
The first one was interesting but how was the remake?

I know this is not news but just asking.

Save your money and rent the Lord of the rings trilogy. The remake of On the Beach is a typical TV fare, lots of frothy stuff about "relationships", standard cardboard characters and with a good dose of anti-Western and anti-American defeatism thrown in,

The original was great.

Modern screenwriters need to be more original and stop recyling older movies.

I can't think of one remake that was better than the original.

What bugs me about most nuke war disaster movies like "The Day After" is that the "moral of the story" is never that Russia or China must disarm, it's always seemingly that the USA should unilaterally do so.

Agreed! Just one original thought to come out of Hollywood and I would be amazed!
