DISASTER Reality vs Theory regarding disasters and prepping.

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I have a list of "last minute items to buy if SHTF".
No food items or any items that we normally buy. It is a list of things that we don't use but could be valuable in a SHTF situation. These are items that if we never get the chance to buy that's fine but that I would buy if safe to do so and I was sure the end was near. Such a list would be substantially different for every household.

In stories, the "last-chance stock run" does promote the idea of being aware, listening to your gut and taking advantage of it.

It's also a plot device to present lists of things to get at the last minute....then get on with the story.

@20Gauge , make a stab at writing a story. It ain't that easy.

I would guess that most people here at TB are of that nature to be ahead of the masses. Watching every news story, trying to get a heads-up on bad events.

It may not be for that last trip to the store. A lot of people are stuck somewhere that ain't the place to be in a crisis or have family members in that situation. An hour or two could be huge in getting them on the road.

Always remember, Murphy gets a vote on how things play out in reality.

People are herd animals. So when one of them decides to stock up the whole herd tries to do the same thing. The result is few actually get anything. Some grab all of the couple things they think about but miss out on many items they never thought about needing until too late.
It is good this plandemic happened as it did. It woke up up many people about prepping. And it allowed many of those to see the holes in their preps without causing them real harm.
I sure hope everyone is now fully stocked for what is ahead of us.
BINGO........a perfect example is these asshats and their masks...….

I am well aware that I am not a story writer in any form including children books. I would go so far as to say I can not even tell a story well.

I do agree the books do promote being aware.

Thanks!

I wasn't being snarky with that.

If you even try to do a mental outline of a story, it makes you think and analyze things a bit differently. It gives you a new perspective.

Try it sometime, like when you are on the road.

Writing stories, as a process, is kinda interesting.

I didn't take it that way at all. Sorry if it came across that way. It was solid advice.

I disagree! I really enjoy your stories about your cats! And I loved how you showed everybody how you made your planters!
