Medical Quikclot gauze - useful after expiration date?

Is older quikclot gauze still useful? By older, I mean beyond its' official expiration date on the still sealed package.

I've tried to find info via search engines. One common answer, out of a small number of discussions, is it should remain good so long as the package is still sealed and worst case it won't cause harm and should at least act like plain gauze. Those are just gut hunches though.

The makers must have some product life data they likely have to share with the FDA and their insurance provider.
However, they want to sell new, expensive quikclot instead of giving anyone a reason to not purchase new product.

I know for legal medical liability, expiration dates are a touchy issue and low hanging fruit for ambulance chasing lawyers.

Does anyone know of practical information on the subject?
