Q. For herbalists, Is Rose of Sharon useful?

Hi,

I'm wondering if any herbalists can tell me if the Rose of Sharon shrub is of any herbal usefulness and how can it be used?

I have one creeping into my clothesline area that I'm ready to chop down soon, unless I find it serves a useful purpose, then I would prune it back to save it instead.

Per this article, the flowers are edible and were brewed into a tisane in the 16'th century. Thats all I've come up with so far...
